god can’t stop thinking about that post talking about how lightning is a representation for abuse and how lightning redirection is Zuko letting it pass through him but not destroy him and now I can’t stop thinking about how Iroh refuses to conjure lightning because Iroh, unlike Ozai, loves Zuko as if Zuko were his own son. and how Zuko specifically teaches Aang how to redirect lightning, because Aang is 13 now, and Zuko probably seems himself in Aang. sees his own 13 year old self begging for his father’s forgiveness, his father who burned half of his face off just for speaking out of turn. how he probably is scared sending this kid off to go face his father because Zuko knows that his father has no issue with murdering a child. and how Aang shows Ozai mercy by redirecting the lighting back into the sky and not killing him, shows him the mercy that he couldn’t and wouldn’t show to his own son. and all of it on the 100th anniversary of the Air Nomad’s genocide, no less. just like how when Aang first entered the avatar state, Ozai tried to burn his face in the same spot he burned Zuko’s, but Aang smacks his hand away, like a subtle way of standing up for Zuko in that moment, standing against the abuse Zuko went through, standing up for his friend. and how lightning redirection was invented by Iroh by watching waterbenders, water being an element of change and healing. god damn. god it fucking hits different. shut up this is literally the best show ever, literally nothing will ever top it.

something something abt the last agni kai. and azulas use of lightning throughout the show as intentional and controlled and rational and to show that She’s More Powerful Than Zuko bc she uses lighting. bc she can abuse people the same as ozai does. because love is what made zuko weak and the last agni kai she’s going Through it its her Break Down. and she’s not winning so she does what she’s been raised to do she hurts other people to regain control and she aims the lighting at katara and zuko takes it for her. he redirects it to save her the fate he had. and and and zukos support system man. his uncle who made a show of unconditional love when zuko was literally reeling about the conditions of ozais and who invented and taught him how to redirect lightning to break the cycle of abuse and who learned it from water benders (WHICH I COULD TALK SO MUCH ABOUT I THINK SO OFTEN ABT WATER TRIBE PSYCHOLOGY) and the avatar who’s the same age as zuko when he got the scar and who brings ozai down dispite being Thirteen and everything else u said and katara who has every right to hate zuko and who has the ability to control him or anyone else like a puppet but uses it to heal instead and toph who’s the age of azula when zukos agni kai and has the same frightening power but became powerful to please nobody but herself and sokka. who’s the opposite of everything zuko is but is everything zuko isnt and Gets what its like to lose a mom and to constantly feel inferior to his little sister and to be abandoned by his dad (sorry hakoda) and yet zukos the only one who can redirect lightning so many thoughts left to say but i am so tired. good night atla meta post
