Why Does It Have To Be Like This - Tumblr Posts
Me: being anxious over a test scheduled a week from now
Also me: not doing anything about it and continuing to procrastinate
Future me: regretting all the choices I made in life and contemplating faking my death and flying to another country.
I am starting to think a lot of Star Wars fans tend to forget that a lot of villains back then were all protrayed by British (or just guys with awesome accents) white guys. And do not attack me when I say this, but I personally don't understand what the problem is this time?
Everyone complains about Black/Asian/etc. Actors and Actresses not being given roles in films or tv series, and when they do get a role that they actually auditioned for, you guys first get excited only to turn around and start complaining again that they play a villain.
It's one thing when movie casting agents do that intentionally, it's another thing when the actor/actress actually goes and decides that they're going to give it their all and go with the role anyways. You guys don't actually know if they want to play villains or not, you're all just mad because you all think that it's because of their race that they play villains.
An example being in Star Wars Rebels, with Agent Kallus. He's a white man, who's voiced by the awesome David Oyelowo. I remember everyone had started complaining non-stop about it, saying that he shouldn't have to voice a bad guy, but once his redemption arc started going, you all started embracing it. What the hell is with this double-edged sword y'all got going on?
Unless an actor/actress flat out says that they don't like that they play villainous characters, don't be jumping to conculsions about it. Otherwise you're going to end up making yourselves look bad if the opposite is confirmed.
