When my sister was in 2nd grade, her English teacher told their class that a blue whale is called so because they have blue blood (also implied that the only kind of whale that exists is blue whale so all whales have blue blood) . As my sister revelled in her newfound knowledge, I called out the bullshit but she chose to believe her teacher.

Showed her pictures of blood bathed sea shores of the annual whale hunting festivals of Europe and a video of exploding whale. The horror on her face was hilarious.

She never doubted me again.
