So, the thing that every avatar looks a bit like the lover of the previous avatar is very well known. But you know what else I noticed? Yangchen fell in love with a guy from the water tribe. After her came an avatar from the water tribe, who fell in love with a girl from the water tribe. He was followed by an avatar from the Earth Kingdom, who fell in love with a girl from the Fire Nation. Then there was a Fire Nation Avatar, who fell in love with a Fire Nation girl. He died, and was reborn as Air Nomad Avatar, who fell in love with a Water Tribe girl. Then came an Avatar from the Water Tribes, who fell in love with a girl of mixed descent from the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom. Every person the Avatar fell in love with was either from the same nation as them, or from the nation that came after them.
