Yes He Finished Song Of Achilles - Tumblr Posts
my brother said apollo in 'song of achilles' is a homophobe and he hated him. then he reread trials of apollo series for like, a way to cope with patrochilles or smth and after that, he and me had a conversation about if both of us had immortality and invincibility (gods stuff)
like how we would be permanent and forever. but then we wouldn't know death, we wouldn't afraid about being hurted and we wouldn't care. we would be here for too long and then we would do stupid shits like apollo did and sometimes we wouldn't care about everything. how we wouldn't always keep our morals, keep our loves, trusts, how we absolutely would change and change and everything would always be different whether we want it or not.
like, he doesn't understand why but he's starting to think about it, why would apollo mess with mortals, throw patroclus off just to spite him, for he will never save helen, for he will lose, he will die. why tho, why are gods so exasperating, so proud, why are they so interesting with humans, wars should never be interested with and nobody should even think about it in the first place. its cruel, gods are cruel, gods are assholes, he said.
but if he is a god, he would do that, he would interested in people's businesses, in normal living being's businesses, how could he not, he would live forever, he could kill a guy and people would notice it but then what? they would be far gone compared to him, they would forget it, they wouldn't dare to mess with him, if they did, he could literally wipe them out from existence and make it the third or millennial's ago disaster and eventually, people would believe it
even if achilles defeated a god, he's still a human, he's still succumbed to madness bc of his lover's death, and it's beautiful like that, it will end. gods can not experience it, they wished to be achilles, to have a love life, an actual love life that even though it ends tragically, it starts like magic.
so when my little brother reread rick's books he's very conflicted about the truth about gods. immortality and invincibility are scary, what's the great in that, in the end, it's just something far too gods-like, and you know how're gods. and not to mention, if humans have go and choose one of those, whether to be the strongest or live the longest, they will go insane, he couldn't even bet on that, they're facts.
so he pitied the demigods and conflicted about other gods in rick's books greatly, rick portrayed the characters, developments and world-buildings so well. mixes it with the song of achilles and he will literally going to become an atheist.
so he asked me if things would be different when gods didn't meddling with mortals or anything in particular or never existed at all, how would that be? and i said everything would be normal and depressed, even worse if not the worst and patrochilles would never happen and there wouldn't be percy jackson at all and it would be peter johnson for real and people would overly analyze some random guy in his weird imagination or smth and then my brother ugly cried
