when a character dies and you can just see the remnants of them all throughout the story.... the places that they could have lived in and changed.... when you can see a scene and go "this would've gone so much better with them" but it cant go better because they're gone and they've left the story bereft

you can’t get away from her
from the small things like how the back of Dutch’s tent is both closed for the first time ever
and it’s where she would always stand
to the conversations about her that foreshadow her innocence and Karen screaming that she was just in love
to the obvious final reveal
I went back to horseshoe overlook and clemens point but I couldn’t bring myself to go to shady belle
because that’s. her room you know. that’s where she would sit. and cry a lot
