The first time was during their first meeting. That was... strange...

6.17pm, 25th December.

(Y/N) was walking on the snowy sidewalk, lit only by a street lamp which produced a dim light, as she returned from the Christmas celebrations at her parents' house, carrying with her a large bag containing the gifts she had received from her relatives. She was burying herself in her scarf, feeling cold.

Suddenly, she felt a gust of wind pass by her and, in less than a second, her glasses disappeared from the bridge of her nose.

"Wow -the girl heard a voice from above her- are these what you humans call 'glasses'? They're so strange!"

(Y/N) tried to squint to see the one who stole her glasses, but she couldn't make out his appearance. She could only make out a mop of red hair and one thing that shocked her: the thief was flying!

"W-who are you? How can you fly?"

"I'm Jin! And you're beautiful!" The strange boy, Jin, exclaimed, making the girl blush deeply.

"Thank you? Can you give me my glasses back, please?"

"No."

"Please! I can't see anything without it!" (Y/N) cried, starting to try to take her glasses from Jin, forgetting her bag, but with little success, considering her almost total blindness.

They continued chasing each other for a few minutes, but the girl still hadn't managed to get her glasses back. Eventually, the boy reached down and put the glasses on her.

"C-can you step away a little, please?" (Y/N) whispered after seeing Jin didn't move away from her, but rather he remained staring at her, with his face very close to hers.

"Why?"

"Because, if you look at me like that, it's disturbing!"

"Can't I stare at a beautiful thing?"

"Huh? What did you say?!" The girl didn't know whether to be embarrassed and happy at being called beautiful or angry at being defined a thing.

"You're cute without glasses, but you're beautiful with them!"

"Stop complimenting me! And then, you still have to answer one question from me: how can you fly?"

"Who knows?" Immediately after saying this, Jin flew out of (Y/N)'s sight, leaving her stunned.

The second time is what happens every day: every morning, before she wakes up, Jin makes her glasses disappear, so, when she wakes up, (Y/N) frantically searches for them in every corner of their house. Their "glass hunt" always ends with a sweet kiss.

"You're almost close, (Y/N)!"

"Come on! Give them to me!"

(Y/N) is walking with her arms extended forward to avoid bumping into furniture or doors, while trying to find his glasses, but not knowing Jin was the one holding them. However, the girl doesn't see the carpet in the living room. She trips on it, and she loses her balance and falls. Actually, she would have fallen if it hadn't been for her boyfriend, who caught her before her body hit the ground.

"We certainly don't want to ruin your beautiful face..." Jin takes her glasses and puts them on her face.

The girl blinks and remains silent for a few seconds; then, making her boyfriend chuckle, she shouts: "So you've had them all this time?!"

"Joke!"

"Jin!"

"Sorry, beauty." Jin approaches (Y/N); he bends down slightly and takes her cheeks in his hands, giving her an affectionate kiss.

The third time hasn't happened yet. It'll happen during Jin and (Y/N)'s wedding, which took a lot of convincing from her to be made, since she didn't even know what it was.

(Y/N) will walk on the beach, arm in arm with her father, towards her future husband. Theirs will be a small wedding, with only her relatives and his closest friends, and it'll be on the beach, a location chosen by Jin.

The youkai will be super happy, and he won't listen to any of the master of ceremonies' words; the human will be super touched to have finally managed to marry the man who loves her.

Time will pass very quickly, and the ceremony will soon reach the final moment: that of the kiss, which will establish their union forever.

"You can kiss the bride."

Jin will amaze everyone present, because he won't kiss (Y/N), but he'll take her glasses and start running away, shouting that's their daily ritual.

They'll chase each other for about five minutes, then Jin will give (Y/N) back her glasses and, finally, they'll kiss amidst the applause of those present.

(Y/N) is celebrating the victory of her boyfriend's team in the stands: after years of participation, they finally won the Dark Tournament! And she followed all Jin's fight, supporting him, healing his wounds and giving him all the moral support he needed.

However, she doesn't know her boyfriend is about to surprise her...

In fact, Jin had accidentally discovered the human tradition of marriage about a month before the final, so he had asked Yusuke, who had just gotten married to Keiko, what it was. It had taken him a while to understand why humans got married, since he didn't understand what drove them to make an oath of loyalty and love to each other: in his opinion, there's no point in doing so. Nevertheless, although he thought, and still thinks, it was useless, he still decided to propose to (Y/N). However, he wanted to propose her in his style, in a big way, so a few days before the final of the tournament, he prepared everything for his proposal: he had his team help him to keep you away from the fighting arena and to fix everything.

It's time for the team to make their wish. The girl is very moved and happy for her boyfriend, and she's clapping and cheering in the stands like crazy.

However, at the time of making the wish, the lights go out, making (Y/N) scared for fear an attack by a defeated team could occur. Nevertheless, before panic breaks out among the public, a light is immediately projected in the center of the arena towards Jin.

"Before expressing our wish -he says- I want to communicate mine to a very important person for me: (Y/N)." The spotlight focuses on the girl, who's already almost in tears, as she already has half an idea what's happening.

"(Y/N) -the youkai continues- I love you very much. You've been my sweetheart for years, you've always supported me and put up with my antics."

By now, (Y/N) is in tears and she's already started to go down the steps to get to her beloved.

All the youkai stare at her and step aside as she passes, almost as if she were a goddess, behavior in stark contrast to what they had previously had: in fact, since the girl is human, they had always criticized, attacked and considered her an inferior being. Not even Jin's interventions had changed the situation, but she had always endured all the insults to come to see her boyfriend fight and to support him. However, now he's the champion: they fear him, and they've realized it'll be better to treat his partner well.

"You know I'm not good at speeches, also because I just forgot the whole speech I had prepared, so I'll keep it short: (Y/N), I want to spend my life with you. Will you marry me?"

The human, having arrived in front of the youkai, throws herself on top of him, hugging him tightly, while crying, causing both of them to fall to the ground.

An enormous happiness explodes inside her. She has waited so long for this to happen, she has dreamed about it for years. The tears continue to rush down her face, but she doesn't even realize it due to her joy.

"Yes, Yes! I'll marry you!"

Today is a terrible day for (Y/N).

Everything had gone wrong at her work: first she was late to her office, then a colleague who hates her spilled her cup of coffee on her, finally her boss got angry with her and threatened to fire her. So, she returned defeated and embittered to her and her boyfriend's home.

She expected to find Jin, her boyfriend, waiting for her at home while he trained, but, when she arrived there, she found no one. Even sadder, she threw herself into bed under the covers almost in tears, wanting to do nothing.

(Y/N) remained under the covers for a long time; after many hours, she hears the sound of the door opening: Jin is back.

"Darling, I'm home!"

"I'm in our room..."

The girl hears her boyfriend's footsteps go towards their bedroom, and then his head pops out of the doorframe of their bedroom.

"Sorry, I'm so late. I was training with Touya and I lost track of time."

The youkai turns to look at the human, noticing she's under the covers and isn't even looking at him, so he worries. He fears he has done something wrong: he isn't human, he doesn't have the same concept of emotions and how his actions can hurt others, especially his girlfriend.

"Are you ok, (Y/N)? What happened? Have I done something which makes you feel bad?"

"Just a bad day."

"Oh. What should I do?" That sentence, the fact Jin asked her what to do to make her feel better, brings a small smile from (Y/N).

"Can you hug me?" The youkai doesn't even answer: he lies down on the bed next to the human and hugs her gently from behind.

"What happened? Can you tell me please?" At Jin's sweet words, the girl bursts into tears, turning over and planting her face in his chest.

"Today everything went wrong! First I burned my breakfast, so I had to make it again and I was late for work, then my colleague threw her coffee on me and all my clothes got ruined, and I didn't have a change of clothes and I was left with wet clothes, finally my boss got angry with me because I didn't give him the documents, but I sent them to him via email yesterday! He even threatened to fire me! Then, I came home and you weren't there and I found myself alone!" (Y/N) screams with a voice broken by crying.

Jin holds her gently, whispering softly in her ear: "Sorry, darling, for not being there when you needed me most."

"I'm not very good at comforting people, but I can try to console you, although I don't promise to succeed. If you need me to do something, just tell me and I'll do it." He continues, still holding his girlfriend and starting to stroke her hair.

"...Just hold me tight." (Y/N) replies with a small, hoarse voice due to crying, after a few moments of silence.

"Of course."

The two remain embracing in their bed for many minutes, until the girl falls asleep in the arms of the youkai, who continues to look at her sweetly for a few minutes, even if he then gets up silently to not wake her and goes to prepare dinner for her, since it has gotten dark in the meantime.

After about half an hour, (Y/N) wakes up from the scent of food, so she goes to the bathroom to rinse her face, and then she goes to their kitchen, finding her boyfriend in her apron cooking udon for her.

"You cooked me udon!"

"I know you like it a lot and I read on that strange thing with the screen it can make you feel better, so I decided to prepare it for you. It should be ready in two minutes."

(Y/N) feels happier: Jin may not be the perfect boyfriend, but he's trying to be the best boyfriend for her, learning her habits and preferences and better understanding her emotions and how to comfort her.

"Jin?"

He isn't a fan of showing his affection through gestures: he prefers to do it through his words. In fact, he's very good with words: he can cheer you up when you're sad, increase your self-esteem if it's in pieces, always make you feel loved... In addition, he loves leaving complimentary notes for you in your home.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Probably, your friendship would have started through Yusuke, who had introduced you to him. As your best friend, he would be someone who always gives good advice: he's a great conversationalist and always able to give you advice from an unbiased perspective. Furthermore, if you're a very instinctive person, he would balance you with his calm personality.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

At the beginning of your relationship, he got tense and felt slightly uncomfortable cuddling with you; then, though, he got used to your affection quite quickly. In fact, usually he cuddles with you in your bed, just before you two fall asleep and on your sofa when it rains and if you've had a bad day. Fun fact: even if he doesn't show it, Youko loves to cuddle with you and, if you stroke his hair and fox ears, he'll melt in your arms.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

He definitely wants to settle down with you: since he realized he loved you, he decided he would spend his whole life with you, also because he likes the domesticity of being human. I think he's quite capable of taking care of the house and himself: he knows how to clean and cook basic dishes.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

If he had to break up with you, he would try to use his words to make his breakup speech sweeter, but that would make your separation very emotional and filled with tears, and he would hug you sweetly before leaving you. He would want you two to remain friends anyway, but he wouldn't be offended if you never wanted to see him again.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

In his past life as Youko, marriage was literally the last thing on his mind; nevertheless, as Shuichi, he wants more and more that taste of domesticity and humanity. In fact, he's someone who doesn't have short or casual relationships with anyone: if he's dating someone, he plans to settle down, get married and have a family with them.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

He's incredibly gentle both physically and emotionally, ald also both as Shuichi and as Youko! The first is truly kindness done to a person: if you need help, he's always there; if you're sad, he's already with open arms, ready to hug you; he always goes out of his way to make you happy and keep your smile... The second, instead, is kind in his own way: that can be seen particularly in his gestures, and especially in his touch, which always remains soft and sweet, even when he's angry.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

As I wrote previously, he wasn't used to physical affection (and that includes hugs) at first, but then he quickly warmed up to you. However, despite that, he still gets embarrassed to hug you; if, instead, you're the first to initiate the hug, he'll return it without any problems. For that reason, his hugs are very rare unless you start them but, when they happen, the sensations you feel are warmth and protection thanks to his arms.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

It happened after some time, but not too much. In reality, he hadn't planned to tell you he loved you: it happened after you had risked your life and he had saved you; he was so scared of losing you he let it slip out. I think he would have told you anyway during that period, though: for him, falling in love with you was inevitable, and telling you so eased his nerves and filled him with a sense of pride.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they're jealous?)

Depending on how good at observing you're, you may never even notice his jealousy: indeed, he gets jealous, but he's extremely subtle about it. For instance, if he notices someone is too close to you, he'll come closer to you and watch them until them get the hint and walk away. If he were Youko, though, I feel sorry for those who hit on you, because he would either tear them apart or scare them a lot.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

He never kisses you in public. In private or with your most trusted friends, instead, he kisses you every now and then, but you're the one who initiates the kisses more often and his kisses are always chaste, light, sweet and soft. The places where he kisses you most are the forehead, the hand and, more rarely, the cheeks; I think the place he would prefer to be kissed would be the cheek, because other places would embarrass him.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

He's incredibly efficient about making sure children's needs are tended to and he does what is necessary to take care of them, and I think the quality he demonstrates most with them is the ability to understand their desires and needs, even if they're very young and therefore don't speak yet. But he isn't so good at entertaining kids.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

He's a morning person, so he typically wakes up before you. After getting up, he gives you a sweet kiss on your forehead and goes first to get ready for the day and then to prepare breakfast for you; then, if he has to go on a mission, he'll leave you a note next to your breakfast letting you know he goes out and wishing you a good day, but, if he has no missions, he'll wake you up gently by bringing you breakfast in bed.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

The nights you spend together happen quite often, so you've developed your own routine: after eating and washing the dishes together, you two go to get ready for bed, and then you sit on the sofa to watch a movie, read or chat; generally you fall asleep against him, and sometimes he takes you to bed and, after setting up in the living room, lies down next to you, other times he's so tired he falls asleep with you on the sofa.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

His openness depends on which part of him you met: if you met him as Kurama, you'll probably know about his past soon enough but, if you met him as Shuiichi, he knows sooner or later his past will come out, but he isn't entirely sure on how explain it, so he'll wait to tell you it until you discover it naturally.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

He never, never gets angry with you. Even if he got annoyed with you, he would never go so far as to yell at you or hurt you due to anger, but he would still try to talk to you; in the most extreme case, he would move away from you so as not to turn annoyance into anger. He may only get angry with someone if they insult or hurt you, his family or friends.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

All. He remembers everything, he never forgets even a single detail about you. However, despite being a great observer, able to grasp many details about you, he prefers hearing you talk about yourself, since he's loves hearing your voice.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

His favorite moment of your relationship is your first kiss: it was New Year's Eve, and you two were on your house's balcony watching the beautiful fireworks; you were cold and he offered to give his jacket to you, but you refused, since otherwise he would be the one who was cold, so you hugged him and he covered both of you with it, and during the last fireworks he gently cupped your cheek and kissed you.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

He isn't particularly protective, as he knows he's feared by other youkai enough to make sure you aren't attacked. However, he's still partly an animal, therefore, if he senses there's danger, he'll hover over you protectively. The best way to protect him is to remind him to take care of himself and he's human, and human bodies will give out a lot sooner than youkai ones.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

It depends: as Shuichi, he doesn't put much effort into them, but only because he loves simple things, so for example his typical dates are at your home reading a book or watching a movie together, or his gifts appear simple, but they've a great meaning; as Youko, he's a real exhibitionist, who has to show all the youkai that you're his partner.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He tends to overwork himself: sometimes, it even gets to the point where you've to force him onto bedrest for the sake of his health! That's a hard habit to break, but he's trying very hard for you to overcome it, because he knows it worries you a lot.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

He doesn't worry too much about his appearance, except for his hair: he takes great care of it, especially because he makes some of his plants' seeds grow there, so he has to create the conditions to preserve them all the time.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

He would feel very lonely without you: by now he has gotten used to your presence, so he would feel strange not to sleep with you, eat with you, talk to you... Indeed, if he has to move away from you, he wants to call or video call you to see or hear you. However, every now and then he needs to take time to be alone and reflect.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them)

He has a ton of brief relationship experience from his time as Youko, but one thing is a little relationship with a youkai, another is a long relationship with you, the human with whom he wants to spend his whole life. His old partners are never mentioned by him, and for him they aren't important at all, as they're part of his criminal past.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn't like, either in general or in a partner?)

He doesn't like people who are fake, evil or who treat others badly, so he wouldn't want a partner like that. He also wouldn't like a too clingy fiancé, especially if it was at a time when he would like to be alone to think or reflect.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

He's a super light sleeper, mostly out of instinct, since for a long time he slept out in the open in Makai (Demon World), so the lightest shift in movement can wake him up. Since he's been dating you, while still a light sleeper, he's trying to get used to your movement patterns during the night.
