Ok, it's been a while so now I'm updating this in a more orderly fashion. Likes: Linked Universe, Undertale AUs, (AUs in general,) BoTW and such, video games in general. Dislikes: Not a lot I guess? IDK, if I don't like something I'll say it. Asks? Open, once I start getting them! DMs? Eh, why not. Possible Mild Swearing, Things I might put here: Stories I write, out of context discord things that happen, fun stuff, ect. If I don't like something I put up I'll take it down later. Tell me if I do something wrong!

So, I've been thinking.
Video games can be hard, or they can be easy. Video games can push your limits, or gently bring you up to speed.
But almost all of the time, you have the advantage.
Let's take the Tests of Strength, for example.

In these, Link gets put in a fight against a small guardian with magic / science-based weapons. They have a few limited moves they can do.
They can; Block attacks if they have a shield, strike with limited weapons, spin their weapons aggressively, spin a laser in a circle, shoot a concentrated laser at you, and break ice pillars. When you put it like that, they can't really do much.
Link can; Block attacks with shields specifically designed for fighting those types of machines, attack with certain types of shields, attack with anything from a weapon based of the machine to a literal leaf, freeze the machine temporarily, throw remote bombs at it, launch actual magic balls at it, throw things at it for bonus damage, can use it's attacks to counter them such as with flying and parrying, shot it with bows in mid air in slow motion, eat a dish that let's him temporarily fight God, and more.
When you put it that way, it doesn't seem very fair. Unless you are playing in master mode, the guardian is unable to heal. Sure, you can go into the battle in a state where it is physically impossible to beat it, but other than that not much can go wrong other than simple, human error.
So here is an idea for a battle scenario.
Remember this guy?

In OoT, if you went into one of the rooms you would be locked in with a more clear version of this guy. You attack, your Swords collide. Because I have not personally played the game, I am unaware of how you beat him (but don't tell me, I want to figure it out someday myself). However, if you wait around for long enough, your shadow will start to get thicker and thicker, until it fills in and is completely black, and the eyes go red. Now, you have to fight someone who basically spans attacks like you do, and as far as I can tell the only advantage you have is that you have items you can use, although like I said, I have not played the game.
So what if we were to take this guy,
And fight something like him in BoTW.
Imagine fighting a Link that can do everything your Link can do. Spam attacks? Yes. Switch weapons in the blink of an eye? Totally. Flurry rushes? Sure, but if he can do it, you both have some way to defend against them, which is another equalizer. Random Stasis+? It would be weird, but yes. Anything you can do, your shadow can match, and depending on your skill level probably surpass.
That would include healing.
Now, this guy probably would only be hypothetically found at the end of, let's say, something in the style of the trial of the sword. You have scavenged things across all of the floors, weapons, armor, and food to heal. Whatever you find, you bring to the fight. Anything you have access to, your equal also has. If you have a completely full inventory? The fight could theoretically last for hours. 3 hearts and a boko club? Whoever gets the first hit will probably win. Sure, this might make people drop all their weapons on the second to last floor, but if they want to be a whimp then so be it.
This would likely be totally optional, because of the possibility of it being unbelievably difficult, but the idea is awesome to think about!

Sure, say something stupid
Hello please reblog this if you're okay with people sending you random asks to get to know you better
so, undertale whos the best AU sans? i prefer bird, epic and dance
but thats for some fucked up reasons
back to the question whose the best?
Ooh, for Undertale AUs I really like Insans from TataTale, Ink Sans because his concept is cool, and probably Swap!Papyrus because he just looks like the embodiment of "stop talking. I get it. Yes, yes, stop, I get it. I'm too lazy to say anything but stop."
Also, not a Sans version but I like the storytelling in Flamesatgames Disbelief AU. The music is cool, too!
Excerpt:
Looking away to eye the edge of the forest, Sky stood up and walked over to the small pile of wood that Legend had gathered, then began placing pieces on top slowly. As he sat back down, he continued watching the fire. As he stared, though, his vision slowly drifted just a little bit higher.
A familiar face stared right back at him, covered in markings. It seemed to vanish as quickly as it appeared, accompanied by… some kind of strange feeling.
Jolting back in surprise, Sky narrowly avoided falling on top of the sleeping Four before hurriedly standing back up to look for what had been staring at him. When he didn’t immediately see anything, he walked to the other side of the fire, then stared into the woods, his mind trying to identify where he had seen that face before. A loud snore interrupted his thoughts, and he stared at where it had come from. Identifying it, he sighed. Time always snored loudly only once during first watch, and usually at the same time. Sky smiled fondly, thinking about the first time it happened. He was about to look away when something on Time’s face caught his eye. Sky slowly walked over to get a better look at the other side of his face. He stifled a gasp when he realized what it was.
Half of Time’s face matched perfectly with the markings he had seen on the face from the other side of the fire. He groaned. It was going to be a long night.

It's finally here!
So, this is my first time posting a link onto Tumblr, so regardless of if it simply works and has a nice rectangle box around it (best case scenario) or if it pulls a Tumblr (derogatory), the link should go straight to the fic on Ao3. Like I said, I've never done this before, so feedback is appreciated! I wish the excerpt was a little more clear, but (just as a heads up,) I have thoughts™️ about the chain, and so I'll bring them up at the bottom notes whenever they become relevant.
I feel like from what I have written so far the story progresses to fast, but I'll fix that and get better at it as I go (I hope). Enjoy it, and I'll try and keep it updated... whenever. No ideas for any sort of reasonable schedule yet.
Also, I have some prequel chapter segments that I have written as a backstory but if that goes up, it would probably as intermission chapters or something, although if there's ever any interest I could have another work up on Ao3 with the equivalent of dev-commentary. Who knows, though.
Have to go camping again, so I'll be back probably by Thursday. Until then, send me stupid asks and I'll see you when I get back!
It really is 4 am, huh?
