Okay one thing I thought what really interesting in The Magisterium was how they handled The Enemy of Death. The EoD being a powerful wizard used chaos, magic few are born with the ability to use, to attempt at raising the dead---specifically his brother.

This wasn't very well welcomed, there's a war, the EoD surprise attacked a group of wizards but was mortally wounded. With no choice, no time, and only one viable candidate nearby, he forces his soul into a baby. This is our Call, but because he was a baby Call/the EoD doesn't remember this.

Blah blah blah, lots of things I wont get into, and then we get to book five.

What happens in book five doesn't entirely matter, what is important though is that Call starts recovering memories from when he was the EoD. But to make things really weird, he's encountering other memories too. Numerous chaos users back and back and back, the result of one evil guy striving for immortality. By shoving his soul into people he could never die, and my choosing wizards that could use chaos he could pull the trick for ever.

So, why did the wizard go from "it's just misunderstood" to most wanted? In The Magisterium, it's cause its no longer the same person.

everyone had that one guy at their wizard school said edgy shit like "dark magic is just misunderstood, not evil" that ended up wanted in three countries for necromancy

Okay, honestly, I've never once cried over a character death

Not saying I don't get sad. The old man who kills himself in Shawshank wrecks me, I feel terrible, but (VERY ANNOYING) I only ever get to right before the tears.
