Lucifer sits at his desk, blearingly staring at the same document he has been for the past ten minutes. The words are starting to jumble together, and he's losing his train of thought. He would give up and go to bed at this point, but he's already behind on his work. He can't afford any more setbacks.

There's a knock on his office door. Lucifer sighs and says, "Come in."

You step through the door, and that knot in his stomach washes away immediately. You're carrying a tray with a cup and a sandwich on top.

"I know that you're busy and don't want to take a break or whatever," you say once you step up to him, placing the tray on a free spot on his desk, "but could you take a second to eat something? I made you some coffee and a quick bite to eat."

"Thank you," Lucifer says before picking up the cup. He takes a sip. Bitter. Just how he likes it.

You kiss the top of Lucifer's head. It takes him by surprise, and he's unsure if it's you or the coffee that's warming up his chest. You plant another kiss in his hair, and Lucifer is forced to smile. You try to kiss him a third time, but you're too slow. He turns his head and gives you an unexpected kiss on the lips.

You roll your eyes and playfully smack his shoulder. Lucifer chuckles in his cup. Maybe things aren't so unbearable after all.
