“Thank you, what show may I ask?” She asked. growing up she wished had a more known name just to get one of those key chains with your name on them, but lately it appeared that they were starting to add a few unique names to the collection. “I have pepper spray but unfortunately I left it in my other purse, guess I really should hook it up to my keys instead. Although I am always afraid I’d end up pepper spraying myself knowing my luck.”

"The Flash, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of it. It’s the name of the main character’s mom,” he continued on. He really loved that show and was grateful that the newest season got released on Netflix. He was really enjoying his short time off from school. “I would say you should practice so that you’re more well trained but I don’t know if the mist will end up in your eyes too. Or you can always just call me if you’re in trouble and I’ll come save you,” he offered.

Delilah caught the sudden twinkle that came about in Aiden’s eye at the mention of her being a teacher. “Wait, really?” she questioned first, before smiling at the man again. “I’m actually a professor over at UNC, I teach Human Memory,” she stated before she brought her hand to the blue textbook beside her and slid it over to the center of the table. “Which is why i’m actually reading Essentials of Human Memory, one of the textbooks I assign to my students.” she tapped her finger against the hard covered book before drawing back and taking another sip of her now almost empty cup of coffee. Delilah soon found herself giggling at his rambling, finding it funny that someone else had the same issue as she did. “Mmm,” she started, thinking for a few seconds. “Vanilla bean cappuccino on days that I am not as stressed out. Plain, cold brew coffee if I am. What about yours?”

“Oh, you’re a professor? Should I be addressing you as Dr. Delilah then?” he asked, letting out a slight chuckle. “That’s pretty awesome. What inspired you to get into that field? I can’t imagine doing anything scientific or even closely related to scientific. Chemistry One was such a pain in the butt. I think my lab partner wanted to switch partners because I had no clue on what I was doing the whole entire semester.” Aiden was definitely not good at science, to say the least. Maybe it was because books made him feel closer to his parents and science felt like he wasn’t honoring his parents. Then again, young Aiden did everything he could to still feel like his parents were there. As an adult, he wishes he tried harder in other subjects, maybe life would have been different. Maybe he could’ve done research or something. “Oh wow. I’m definitely an iced soy latte kind of guy, even when it’s cold as hell outside. I can’t do hot drinks. My tongue is way too sensitive and I can’t have dairy because my stomach is too sensitive. Do you just drink cold brew without any creamer?”

“Well thanks again Aiden, I’m Nora.” She held out her hand to give a firm handshake, nodding her head in a grateful way. “Yes I’m fine, perhaps if you hadn’t interfered sooner who knows.” She trailed off in thought, a shiver running down her spine at how much worse it could’ve been. “Guess Wilmington isn’t safe as I assumed it would be.”

Noralopcz:

“Oh, what a pretty name. That’s the name of this character on this show I really love.” He stuck his hand back out and gave her a reciprocated firm handshake. “Well maybe I’m your guardian angel sent from above,” he joked, trying to make light of the situation. He didn’t want her to feel as though the situation wasn’t important, but he didn’t want to dwell on it either. “Yeah, I don’t think anywhere is safe, if I’m being honest. I think there’s definitely cities with a lower crime rate, but you definitely should be careful. Get some pepper spray or something,” he suggested.

Aiden and Greer were friends, well more than friends, but that was something that Aiden kept private. Yeah, sure, the sex was great, there was no denying that, but Greer was also just a great person to be around. Aiden wouldn’t admit it and he was sure that Greer knew, but he was developing some small crush. He knew getting into a friends with benefit relationship with anyone wasn’t the smartest idea, but he just couldn’t resist the blonde girl for whatever reason. He definitely had to keep the feelings to himself because he didn’t want to ruin the friendship. He was sure that nothing ever would advance between them, so he was unsure why he kept coming back. Aiden had promised to bring Greer her favorite dessert and lunch. He stopped by one of their favorite places and ordered food for the both of them. He hopped into his car and drove over to her. Aiden was always excited to see Greer. As Aiden was driving up onto her lot, he stepped out the car and snatched a couple flowers and tied it with the random rubberband he had in his car. Sure, it wasn’t anything fancy, but he just wanted Greer to feel like he actually cared about her and not just the physical intimacy between the pair. He had the bag and flowers in one hand and rang the doorbell in the other. “I’m gonna take my horse to the Old Town Road,” he began singing, sure that it would catch her attention.

Fox busted out in a laugh that echoed into the street. He loved hearing the stories, because they were mostly some shit that Fox would have done. Actually – Fox was a very uneventful student. A’s and B’s, basic classes, blended into the background despite his size. He didn’t have strong feelings about school, just that it wasn’t really for him. “Man, that’s why I couldn’t be a teacher, I would have gave him an A just for the meme. And that is the reason I shouldn’t be allowed to teach the youth of America. I’d teach them memes and rock and roll,” Fox snorted. Not that he was much of a rocker these days. The days of crowd surfing were well over, instead he was more local in his little studio. He took a bit of his takeout and chewed and swallowed. “But you’re all done with the school year, right? Or do you have teacher building shit this week?”

Callahanfox:

Aiden grabbed his utensils and started digging into his food. To say that Aiden loved this place was an understatement. It was one of his favorite places ever and the fact that he met one of his friends there made it even better. “I would have loved to have a teacher like you growing up, but I know that parent teacher conferences would not be great if I was teaching the children memes. I mean I try to incorporate them if it’s fitting to the context of the book. Honestly, they’re teaching me more about memes than I am teaching them. They use the weirdest slang ever. Who the heck calls their significant other ‘bae’?” He couldn’t help but laugh thinking about his students’ use of language. Aiden grabbed another bite as he listened to Fox continue speaking. Aiden sighed at the thought of having to return to school in a week, not because he chose to, but because he had to teach students, students who were forced to be there. “We don’t have teacher building until the week before school. I have to teach summer school though. What about you? Do you have any plans this summer? Making more mediocre music?”

“I don’t think you have t be five to love something with your whole heart, even something as seemingly juvenile as Disney,” Steph said quietly. She might not be a fan of anything to quite that extent, not even her favourite bands, but she found the idea of such unbridled enthusiasm admirable; brave; the kind of thing that gave life meaning, and wasn’t that what anybody wanted, anyway? At Aiden’s assumption, though, she shrugged. “I certainly didn’t,” she said, though of course, that didn’t mean Aiden would have to do the same. Besides, it wasn’t just movies that Steph didn’t really enjoy, it was sitting still in front of the TV screen – unless, of course, she had a friend by her side to keep her company. If she was going to sit around, she’d rather turn on music and letter or watercolour, and even that wasn’t something she did every day. “I’d hope they’d know better … and they wouldn’t want to waste their stash on their teacher,” Steph said, giggling at the idea of Aiden high in front of his students nonetheless, unlikely though the scenario was. Narrowing her eyes at him playfully, Steph didn’t even try to argue with Aiden’s logic about friendship bias. “There’s nothing wrong with eggs,” she agreed, “but boiled? For dinner? Please tell me you’re gettin’ somethin’ more substantial for lunch, at least.” Though for her to lecture about getting proper meals was more than a little hypocritical, when her lack of appetite lingered even now, over six months since her brother died. “Well, I can understand not wanting to be cooped up,” she said with a grin – unless she was visiting with friends, she rarely spent any time at hers anymore.

Stephlenox:

“Yeah, you’re right. I didn’t mean that in a bad way. I meant it more in the sense that she had the joy and carefreeness when she talked about Disney, like all her worries didn’t matter. Like you know, when you were a little kid and you didn’t have much to worry about, no bills, no career, anything,” he tried to explain himself. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to seem defensive, I just didn’t want my choice of words to come off the wrong way,” he finished. Aiden laughed at the thought of his students actually giving him weed brownies. “Yeah, that’s true. Although they always ask me what drugs I’ve experimented with and I cannot fully disclose that kind of personal information. I don’t need parents yelling at me for pushing their children to do drugs or whatever.” He honestly was one of the worst cooks. He probably could have auditioned for worst cooks in America or something at the rate he was making food. “Ummm...I sometimes eat the hot lunches at school because I get too lazy to pack my own meal. I know I should meal prep. Maybe I should get an Instapot too. I’m just not good at making things taste flavorful, you know? I just honestly don’t know how.” He wasn’t trying to sound negative, but he knew he wasn’t good at those things, which he wasn’t afraid to admit. “Yeah, I think I need to find a new hobby to enjoy or something. Or I should start by cleaning my place up. I was thinking of building a little dog house for my dogs.”
