      QUIRK: Soul Beam

The summer before high school was a fever dream that Y/n never wanted to wake up from. The sweat sticking to her skin was only ever washed away from the storms that passed through her life- note: even the pools she submerged herself in never removed the glistening water from her body because sometimes water needs a little force behind it in order to cleanse you.

The gold and purple sunsets are passing memories that she wants to desperately hold on to. No taste will be quiet like the pancakes she had eaten, and no smell will ever replace that of the sweater she stole (despite overheating every time she wore it).

Scars are a painful reminder of what she went through, and it takes a little to see them as a badge of honor, but the help she received only made it re-open in the long run.

Tire swings will never be the same, and that stupid song is still on the radio- as if it wasn’t playing enough in her head. Y/n used to think she was strong, but now that’s barely believable. Ice cream cones and train rides have a hidden meaning that will only ever be known by her and it hurts to know that no one can help her mourn a love that never happened.

--------------

The first question was asked when the summer started. It was next to a moving van that was a beacon calling out to everyone on the street it was parked on. The well-off neighborhood was full of upstanding citizens who wanted nothing more than to welcome the newest member with open arms.

It was that beacon that called the Iida family over to the driveway. But as Tenya walked with his brother and parents, he wondered if the bright beacon that drew him in was the moving truck of the bright smile of the teen girl, happily grabbing boxes of things to bring inside.

“Hello! We’re the Iida family, this is my husband, and these are my two son’s, Tensei and Tenya. Welcome to the neighborhood!” The wife smiled kindly at the mother.

“Thank’s for coming out! This is my husband, Y/d/n, and my daughter Y/n. We’re really looking forward to joining the neighborhood,”  to the untrained eye this looked like any normal greeting, but Y/n knew better. She could see the subtle glances her mom threw at her. She was trying to say how cute the younger boy was. It received a light chuckle and an eye-roll from her daughter.

“Tenya,” The Iida’s father said, clasping him on the shoulder, “Why don’t you go help Y/n with her boxes?”

“Yes, sir,” he said, walking over to the moving truck.

“You can just grab that one if it’s not too heavy,” she pointed at a medium side box labeled ‘Knickknacks’. He hummed in agreement and followed her up into her room, noting the aesthetic that she surrounded herself in.

---------------------

A knock echoed through the newly-decorated house, alerting the present family members of a visitor.

“Not it,” Y/n’s dad said, pressing his finger to his noes; her mother follows suit.

“You guys are literal children,” Y/n groaned, forcing herself off the couch she had grown ever so attached to.  Grumpily, she made her way to the door.

“Oh hey! Iida, right?” Y/n said, recognizing the boy that had already been in her room.

“Yes! That’s me. I uh,” he scratched the back of his neck nervously, “I was heading down to the boardwalk, and I wanted to know if you would like to come with me?”

Truth be told this wasn’t his idea. His mother had been pressuring him for days in hopes to grow closer to the new family. It wouldn’t be long until they realized the Iida’s are a line of hero’s, and she wanted to get close to them before they found out.

“Oh,” Y/n replied, suddenly thinking of the clothes she was currently wearing. While her tie-dye shorts and loose t-shirt weren't anything to be ashamed of, they were not ‘paint the town red’ clothes.

“It’s okay if you don’t want to!” Tenya said, suddenly embarrassed that he randomly invited a girl his age to hang out with him.

“No! I’ll gladly go, just give me a few minutes to get changed. Come inside,” Y/n had said, opening the door wider for him before racing upstairs.

--------------------

Iida walked slightly behind the girl he was supposed to show around. It was a cliché, but she was mesmerizing. Her hair bounced with every step, and she walked like she had a purpose, and the end goal was in mind and she would stop at nothing to get there.

She looked like she was made of honey and sugar and a taste would give him a cavity. The beams of the sun projected from her eyes like the cosmos and it made him want to fall in- knowing full well that drifting through the endless space would never cease to amaze him.

“Do you think they sell corn-dogs here?”

“Huh? oh!” He blushed, before pointing ahead, “Yeah, there’s one right by the docks.”

“Well then what are we waiting for?” She smiled and leaned closer to Iida. “Let's hurry!” There was a burst of light laughter in her voice, as she grabbed his hand and ran off. What was he doing here?

--

When they reached the end of the docks- corn dogs in hand- they say on the bench which over-looked the sea. Night had fallen while they were out, Y/n becoming absorbed in learning as much as she can about where she moved to.

As she looked out to the wine-light sky, she wondered if she could swim to it. The horizon looked so close, like just reaching out a little further would put it in her grasp. It wasn’t until Tenya’s hand grabbed her shoulder that she realized she really was leaning forward.

“Hey, you okay?” He asked, eyebrows pulled together.

“Yeah!” She smiled, snapped out of her thoughts,. “Just day-dreaming,”

“We should get you back home,” He said, before looking back to the water.

She saw his glasses, they reflected the golden hue of the sunset, and the beautiful purple that fought underneath it. She saw all the beauty in the world in his eyes, all that was good and right- was all in front of her. He was the sunset, he was the horizon she so desperately wanted to get to.

“Hey, Iida?” Y/n asked, swinging her legs back and forth under the bench.

“What is it?” He said, looking over to her face- which didn’t turn to see him.

“Stupid question- but an icebreaker; if you could have anyone in the world- living or dead- over to yours for dinner, who would it be?” she blushed a little, but kept a calm face.

He knew the answer as soon as she finished the sentence, but there was no need to tell someone he just met the name of the girl he had been in love with for years- so all he said was, “Probably Catherin The Great, she had a few political opinions I’d like to hear about first hand,”

“Hmm, I can see you two bonding over tea,” She smirked, standing up from her seat, “Let’s get home.”

Tenya nodded, walking beside Y/n- thinking about her.

----------------------------------------------------------------

A month had passed, and the little interactions the two families had resulted in the Iida’s inviting them over for breakfast. Y/n had woken up early to get dressed. She pulled her hair into a ponytail, harshly shaking it so the baby hairs would fall out. She threw on a form-fitting sweater and yoga-pants. Despite wanting to look like it’s a casual mornings- she did apply some casual makeup to make herself look a little more awake.

It was stupid- she knows- but Y/n really just wanted to look a tiny bit better when he sees her again. Looking in the mirror, she wonders if he’s putting a little extra effort in his appearance as well. She could only hope.

Walking down the stairs, she saw her mother- also wearing casual makeup- and her father in a black polo and slacks. They were both standing by the door, waiting for their daughter to come out from her cave.

“Why are you guys already done?” She asked, turning on the phone and checking the time.

“Wanted to make a good impression,” Her dad smiled, putting his own phone away.

“Alright,” Her mom smiled, putting on her wedges, “Let’s get going. Y/n can you grab the scones and smoothie?”

“Yeah mah, I’ll be right back,”

“Thanks love,” she smiled, grabbing the house keys off the hook.

They were kinda heavy, but it was nothing she couldn’t carry. That didn’t stop her dad from taking it from her with a smile. She could have done it, but she’s not necessarily upset about it.

---

Sitting at the dining room table was only awkward in the beginning of the meal. The Iida’s seemed to be pretty profesional people, but the Y/l/n’s were introverts with an acquired sense of humor. Joking about everything from people at work, eachother, and random facts they had learned, the Iida’s quickly became much less tense during the meal.

The mother and father- whom’s names Y/n never seemed to learn, were last few to smile or laugh along side the rest, beaten by Tenya by only a second, but Tensai had been the first to crack a joke, almost beating Y/n herself to break the ice.

The loud laughter slowly split into multiple side conversations; Y/n- who sat across from Tenya- tried to strike up a conversation. “Do you want to be famous one day?”

“Hmm?” He asked, looking up from the lone strawberry cut on his plate, “Yes, I plan on being a Hero.”

A few seconds longer than a moment had passed, end Tensai asked Y/n in return, “What about you? You wanna live the life of fame, or are you more of a low-key kinda gal,” he smiled at her, and for a second Y/n though he had noticed the embarrassment worn on her face after being rejected and forced into silence.

“I dunno really, my quirk is pretty multipurpose. I originally wanted to be a counselor or therapist, but it’s changed from a vet to doctor, to a hundreds of other things. My parents think I should be a hero- I wouldn’t mind I don’t think, but the constant attention could get pretty annoying. A like being busy with people and events, but I do value my privacy,”

He smiled at her, nodding in acceptance at her answer. The Iida parents had been listening into her words while she spoke, but they still conversed with Y/n’s parents as well.

Y/n saw a smile on Iida’s face. That mirrored on her own, and suddenly her pancakes tasted a whole lot better. She missed the far off look in his eyes, if only she saw the worried look that was on Tensai’s face. If she had, maybe that small warning could have protected her heart.

---------------------------------------------

Y/n had found an abandoned tire swing in their large backyard, three acres of cleared land and two of forest. The swing was in a small clearing- it looked like a party or two had been thrown while it was vacant- shown by the few nips thrown about the ground. She swung back and forth- listening to music playing in her head.

Because of how caught up in her head she was, she never heard the footsteps approaching her. “Hey, Y/L/N!” Tenya greated.

“Jesus Christ!” She shouted, falling from the swing. Thankfully, with the use of his quirk, Iida was able to catch her just in time.

“You should really be more careful,”

“I’ll be sure to remember that,” she rolled her eyes.

He smiled, helping her back up to the swing. He slowly began to push her back and forth, spinning her as fast as he could listening to her laughter. Getting more and more dizzy, she closed her eyes to stay level headed.

With a heavy sigh of contentment, Y/n lied on the grass with Iida, staring up at the beautiful blue sky. “Hey, Tenya?” She asked, still looking up.

“Yeah?” He turned on his side to see her better- only to notice her eyes were closed.

“What’s your perfect day?”

“Hmm...” he thought for a second, trying to think of a good answer. “Probably waking up early, and seeing the girl I love as soon as I open my eyes. Then I’d like to eat breakfast with my family- followed by patrol with my brother. Then I’d like to go home and make a cup of tea and sit down with a book I like. Yeah, that sounds pretty good,” he smiled himself, closing his eyes to really picture what he was saying.

“That sounds really nice Iida,” she whispered, wondering if she could be the one he loves.

---------------------------------

Summer only had a month left, but Y/n wanted to make the most of the fleeting free-time she had left. Wanting to explore more of Japan before her freedom was stripped from her, she invited Iida to go on a roadtrip with her.

It wasn’t hard at all to convince her parents to let her go, with her quirk she really didn’t need to worry about being attacked. Even then, she’s physically strong if she can’t use her quirk to defend herself. With the rise of heroes to protect everyone, Japan quickly became one of the safest places. Y/n was also very closely trained with America’s top hero, Reflector. She taught Y/n everything she knew and fully plans on giving Y/n her hero agency as her predecessor.

Iida’s parents were a little harder to convince, but Y/n’s parents were very persuasive. They would be gone for a week, and they would check in every morning when they woke up and every night before they went to sleep. If they didn’t call during one of the time’s then they had until the next call to respond.

They had made a list of regions and cities in them to visit in them, with the days they would be arriving and leaving. If they skipped a stop of stayed longer, then they had to text their parents with the nex information. Solid rules, and both the teens agreed to them, as well as their parents.

The bus ride to the train station was relatively short, but it was in complete silence. It was a little awkward, but they just had to get through that one part.

The train ride itself was much more enjoyable. With their suitcases in hand, they sat close yet comfortably. “Hey, Tenya?”

“What’s up?” He asked, looking up from his phone to see her eyes staring back at him- a smile tugging at his lips.

“For what in your life do you feel most grateful?” She questioned, smiling into his eyes.

“Probably my family,” He responded as soon as she finished- having grown accustomed to Y/n’s random questioning, “They’ve done so much for me, and I only hope I can pay them back for all that they’ve supported me through.”

Y/n nodded at his answer, acknowledging how very much like him it is. The loud bustle of train and constant shaking led them to listening to music together, sharing earbuds and squeezing close together. It was a cheesy, new, pop song- one that will probably inspire a sub-culture of girls to bind together. It was weirdly comforting.

---------------------------------

The last night they spent through their travel of Japan was by far the most enjoyable. There was a small frost in the air that traveled with the two, following them in their own little bubble.

The streets were lightly illuminated, and it seemed like they were the only two in the world. Y/n had grabbed him by the hand, dragging him to an ice cream vendor. Seeing her in front of him, Tenya was thrown back to the first time they spent time together- everything's so different now. Yet, her beautiful eyes stay constant. Her kindness in unwavering. She’s still a girl made of honey and sugar.

After traveling together for so long, the two stopped correcting people who referred to them as a couple- they simply accepted it as an inside joke. This was why they laughed when the man behind the counter said “And these two for the cute couple,” with a wink at the end of his sentence.

Walking linked by the elbows, the two passed through the park. Shivering from the wind and the chill of her ice cream, Iida stopped the pair. He took off his sweater, revealing the long-sleeve shirt he wore underneath, and he handed it to her.

“Ten! You’ll freeze to death,” she said, refusing the offering.

“C’mon Y/n/n, I can heat myself up through my engines, and I wasn’t asking. You’re gonna wear the sweater or you’ll get sick. Put it on,” he said, taking the ice-cream from her hand and raising her arms like she was a child.

Y/n was very pleased the cold hid the blush on her face- last thing she needed was for him to discover her feelings on the last day of this amazing trip. She slipped into his large sweater, and grabbed her ice cream back from him.

“Hey Iida, I’ve got another question,” she said, walking with him through the trees bordering the street.

“I’m ready,” he asked, looking forward to make sur they didn’t walk into anything in the dark.

“What’s a personal problem you could use some advise for?” She asked, actually curious as to what he could possibly need help with.

He sighed, not making eye-contact. “I guess since we’re close enough- even on nickname basis- I should be comfortable telling you this. I’m in love with this girl, I’ve never stopped thinking about her since the moment I met her,” a dopey smile came onto his face, “I have no idea how to tell her. And now we’re going into highschool, and she’s going to meet so many other people- people I’m sure are more fun than me. I want to confess to her before the summer ends, but I have no idea how to. So,” he sucked in a deep breath and looked at Y/n, “What do you think?”

Y/n smiled, she was so sure he was being cheesy and talking about her. She fully believes that he’s gonna confess tonight. It has to happen- that’s the only way what he just said makes sense.

“I think,” she closed her eyes, “You should look her in the eyes, and compliment them. Whether she accepts your compliment or refuses it, tell her you want her to know how perfect she is- and then tell her how you feel. Tell her how just seeing her makes your day, how you want her to be the first thing you see in the morning, and the last voice you hear at night. Tell her you want to spoil her, want to tell her everyday how perfect she is. Confess to her that she’s amazing, and that you love her. Let her know how you feel, and then respect her reply. But, there’s no way she’ll turn you down. Be confident, you’re amazing and I’m sure she feels the same,”

Tenya thanked her for her advise, and they fell back into a comfy silence. It was then she remembered the night they decided to go by first names, the night she realized how hard she fell for him.

----

Y/n was sitting on her rooftop, Iida beside her. They were looking up at the stars- sitting in silence. Like always, she started the conversation- “Hey, Iida, If you died this evening without being able to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? And Why haven’t you told them yet?”

“Huh,” he murmured, thinking hard. “I’d regret not thanking my brother more. He risks his life to save people, and he practically raised me. He’s why I want to be a hero, to live up to his expectations. I guess I haven’t told him yet because I want to prove that I’ve done something with myself. I want him to know he doesn’t have to raise me anymore- that I succeed,”

Y/n thought for a moment, before answering a question for the first and only time they have known eachother- but he didn’t ask it. She just felt a need to finally speak.

“I had an ex-boyfriend,” she sighed, clenching her eyes shut; “We’d been dating for five years- since we were children. We were so close as kids, but when our quirks manifested he broke up with me. He said my quirk was too dangerous for him, that he didn’t want to be part of the backstory of a villians history. It fucking ruined me. I was an idiot for actually thinking we could have lasted. About a month after we broke up, a villian attacked the agency I was working at. The only reason I was there was because I know the hero in charge, and he knew that. He had come to the building during my break- I don’t know why he was there, but I was the only person he knew there. The villain attacked, but his quirk wasn’t very strong. All he could do was change the color of an item for a few seconds. He was killed that day- slaughtered by the villain who’s only reason was boredom. I wish I could talk to him one last time, tell him I loved him one last time.”

Iida scooted closer to her, pulling her head onto his chest, letting her use him as a crutch. “It’s okay, Y/n. It’ll be okay,”

----------------------------------------------------------

When highschool started, and Tenya hadn’t confessed his love to him, Y/n came to the painful realization that she wasn’t the one he loved. However, it was the first day of school that hit the nail on the head.

She had entered the classroom of 1-A, after her family convinced her to at least try out the hero course, and was terrified that she would know no one. And then, she heard a voice that reminded her of someone very similar.

At the far end of the room, she saw the back of a blue-haired boy scolding a blond with his feet on the desk. A smile spread across her mouth when she realized who this up-tight teen was. Practically running to cover the distance of the class, Y/n launched herself onto Iida, latching onto her.

“Ten!” She smiled, shifting to wear he could comfortably hold her up.

“Y-Y/n?” He asked, momentarily stunned by her sudden appearance. He smiled and spun her around for a second before putting her down. “You’re here? You’re parents convinced you to pursue being a hero?” he was reasonably confused, but he wasn’t upset she was there- if anything he was glad to have a second familiar face around.

“Yeah, I’m just trying it out,” Y/n laughed, scratching the back of her neck.

“So heartwarming, now get outta my line of sight four-eyes,” the blond snapped, glaring at the pair.

“You’re annoying, you know that?” Y/n said, rolling her eyes at his comments.

Meanwhile, Iida laughed at Y/n being called his girlfriend. Y/n, who used to laugh with him, could only do her best to not cry.

“C/mon Ten, let’s go to your seat,” Y/n said, tugging his hand towards the spot with his name on it- stopping when her arm was tugged, caused by him not moving with her.

“Sorry Y/n/n,” he said, releasing her hand. “I would, but I promised Momo I’d meet her by the gate and guide her to the classroom. You know about Momo, right?” He looked into her eyes hoping she would put it together herself. After realizing she wouldn’t, he reminded her, “We talked about her on our last day of the tour.”

“Oh,” she said, feeling suddenly really cold.

“Yeah,” He smiled, “Wish me luck!” He gave her a thumbs up and walked out the room- leaving her stunned and so very cold.

A scoff echoed from behind her, causing her to look back and see the blond once again.

“That guy’s an idiot- glasses or not. It’s so obvious how you feel about him, and you’re way to attractive to pine after someone like him. You’re smart too, since you got into this school- he’s really missing out,” he rolled his eyes, but he also knew what just happened- even though no one else in the room picked up on it.

He assumed they were dating, but when Iida laughed, Bakugo had no clue if he was laughing at them dating or the girl’s reaction. He quickly figured out which of the two was the truth, and he also realized that he had no clue that she was in love with him.

Y/n didn’t react to his words, just stuck in the weird state she was in. She wasn’t sad, or angry. There was no tears or screams or breakdown, just a silent wave of shock. An ocean of doubt consumed her, filling her with a sense of... nothing.

She should have known. She should have realized. It’s entirely her fault. Who could love her. Who would want to love her. Who wants to date a freak. Who wants to date someone with a villainous quirk like hers. That’s why he was shocked when she showed up- he thought they’d reject a future villain like her.

No wonder everyone hates her; if she was someone else she’d hate herself too.

Far From Freezing

Fandom: Boku No Hero Academia, My Hero Academia Warnings: Fire, Cold Weather, Passing Out, Reference Nudity, Reference to Sex, fluff Words: 2k388 Requested By: Anon Summary: Winter’s here, not that this effects the doting girlfriend of the half hot half cold idol of class 1A

image

The bus ride had always been Y/n’s least favorite part of any given day. Attending the most prestigious hero school was a dream come true- but it came with prices big and small. One of which was the half-hour commute from the L/n house to the building. Her parents were both long gone by five thirty in the morning- and, not wanting to wake up at dawn to be ready on time, Y/n settled for the six thirty bus ride to Musutafu.

Had it just been the rocky streets which pestered her journey she’d be fine- cursed with headaches and vertigo, but fine. She could take the annoying passengers which surrounded her as well; they kept their distance, and headphones worked wonders nowadays. Y/n could suffer all of this- she could handle it all, except the cold.

Born with a temperature dangerously below what the human body required, Y/n’s parents knew early on what quirk she would have. Absolute Zero- the ability to slow the kinetic energy of anything she touches. Having a naturally cold body temperature meant she was constantly in layers and searching for a heatsource in anything she touches. While it wasn’t a serious issue, it was a constant bother to the teen girl.

So there she was, sitting alone in the back of a shaking bus, with a scowl on her face as the familiar ache in her fingers came back. Desperate for relief, Y/n ignored the self-inflicted pain and rubbed her covered hands together. This bus ride went on far too long.

---------------------------------

“Stupid bus, stupid cold weather, stupid freaking shoes,” soft muttering fell from Y/n’s lips as she swapped her winter boots- which excellently trapped the heat from the heating pads her socks concealed- to the thin indoor shoes the school mandated. She took two steps away from her locker before deciding the ache already taking over her heels was far from worth it, and she swapped back to her large and fuzzy winter boots; dress code be damned.

Y/n couldn’t help but glare softly at the other students of class 2-A. While she loved each and every one of them dearly, seeing her best friends happily chatting away the warm air in their chests left her with undying envy. It didn’t help the cold that freezes over her heart come winter either. Her classmates, who she typically hangs off of and adores, had a tendency to ignore her come november.

They meant no harm, and Y/n’s pretty sure they do is subconsciencly. She slows the air around her, causing the temperature to cool- whether her classmates noticed or not they steered away from her. In addition to that, Y/n had a very different atmosphere in general come the holidays. Blame the ache in her bones, her abandonment issues, her parents who were always too busy to celebrate festivities, blame anything you’d like- but the only thing Y/n enjoyed about winter was the beautiful moments of solitude.

While she was normally very outgoing and attentive to others, Y/n took the frozen season as a time for herself. She cherished the heavy blankets and knitted sweaters- fuzzy socks and fireplaces, watching television with a mug of hot chocolate, ten layers of wool and heating pads while music for only her played. Y/n loved the rare alone time the snowy season provided, but the biter-sweetness of it all never seemed to fade.

Can you really blame her for the blood-freezing glare she sent the class representative? Don’t get her wrong, Y/n follows the rules and get’s some of the best grades in the class. She was a threat to whoever opposed her, but she was very stubborn. Perhaps that was the only feature she inherited from her spit fire of a mother.

So there she was, perched at her desk, arms folded, ignoring one of her friends. Iida glared directly back, lecturing her on the importance of following the dress code and how it’s their not only for aesthetic purposes but for their own good. Once she realized he couldn’t understand why she was wrapped in five layers in the heated room, Y/n stood from her seat and walked over to him. Noticing the shivers that coursed through his spine as she approached, Iida took a half-step back from her. She confidently placed her hand on his blazar covered shoulders.

“This is what I feel like right now,” she spoke- her voice a whisper which replicates a howl in the wind. Iida- now much colder than he once wan- nods and lets her off with a warning before returning to his seat, discreetly starting his engines in order to heat up once again.

She wishes for many things- but above everything she wished her hero-phobic parents would have allowed her to stay at the dorms. Anything would have been better than this. The cold from the metal walls still nipped at her skin an hour later, and Y/n was ready to tap out and go to the nurses office so she could lie atop a furnace to heat up once again.

Sadly, Mr. Aizawa refused to allow that. Quirk training had officially started, and he considered this endurance practice for the aspiring female hero. While the other students worked on pushing their quirks to the limits and beyond, she did the same. Stripping of her wool layers down to her uniform- taking of her shoes and socks.

Her quirk worked through thermal equilibrium, her body needs to be colder than the object she touches to slow the atoms in it. While she could slow her body at will, she lacked the ability to speed it up again. This is a bridge she couldn’t cross any time soon. So, instead, she was told to focus on slowing her body as much as she can. While her body is meant to withstand cold temperatures, the coldest she has ever gotten was negative one hundred and sixty degrees degrees before falling asleep. While that was a remarkable feat, she was sure she could go lower.

That’s how she got into her current predicate. With Aizawa’s encouragent, Y/n breathed slowly and steadily, attempting to reach or break her current record. The time she had gotten that cold was under extreme stress- a fire had started in the daycare her little brother attended. She and the teacher were the only ones there who weren’t children- and they hadn’t been informed of the newest quirk-manifestation. This child was the first in the school to gain their non-mutan quirk, and it had been a complete surprise.

The child was playing with her brother and didn’t want Y/n to take him away- thus he accidentally sent flames in her way. While he wasn’t very strong, Y/n’s little brother had been born with their mothers quirk- Enhancer. He naturally multiplied the quirks strength of whoever he touched. When he tried to move his friends hands away from his sister- he greatly increased the heat of the flames. Y/n was quick to respond and she was left unscaved- with only a minor fear of children from that day forward.

Now, she was determined to gain that kind of control again. The air in the building began to drop and Y/n relaxed her body. Once it had dropped ten degreed in a matter of seconds eyes looked over at both Todoroki and Y/n. When Shoto shook his head, showing he had made no ice, all eyes fell on the so called ‘Winter Hero’, Frostbite- as the tabloids happily referred to her as.

Aizawa kept a trained eye on her figure, noticing the increase paleness of her skin. While she was typically much paler than the average person due to her resting body temperature of 75 degrees, a noticeable blue undertone started to form.

As the room became colder and colder, all practicing stopped. The students shivered in the freezing room, as their body heat no longer kept the temperatures up. The one a-little-warmer-than-comfortable 90 degree room fell to fifty degrees and showed no sign of stopping as the girl kept her focus. As she continued she opened her eyes, becoming aware of the silence now surrounding her. She had become much stronger than last year. She scored very well on all quirk testing, but she could only get her body temp to around negative ninety degrees. Now, with all her practice, she reached that in no time.

As he watched his other students begin to shutter at the sudden cold and rub their hands together for warmth, he wonders if he should stop Y/n for the day. Still, he needed to know her limit. This is what the day was for, to determine who needed extra supervision and would need immediate assistance in case of a vilain attack. He’d just have to deal with the consequences of his decision after she was done.

Still, despite how rigid her posture, despite the blue hues taking over her skin, despite the ice which froze in the air around her, she kept going. Colder and colder until breathing became difficult for the other students. The ground turned to frost, and the students became slower and slower until they too were stuck in place. Standing next to the thermostat, Aizawa watched as it rapidly declined. Once her eyelashes had frozen together Y/n’s annoyance only fed her need to grow stronger.

So wrapped up in her own world, she finally snapped out of her inner monologue long enough to realize a hand was on her shoulder. Aizawa could only touch her for a moment before hissing in pain and withdrawing it. Even through her blazer the cold attacked him, and the skin on his hand had ripped and cracked. He shook his head at his own stupidity. Still, Y/n stopped lowering her body temperature.

“You beat your record by one hundred and ten degrees, you can stop now.” Y/n couldn’t understand what her teacher was saying, but she knew he was talking to her. Swaying in place, Y/n only recognized a sudden heat before passing out.

------------------------------

Waking up in the infirmary was something Y/n had a love-hate relationship with. While she despised the idea of either losing control or being injured, the nurse always turned up the temperature unreasonably hot in her office whenever she was admitted. It always made Y/n feel a little special, knowing a faculty member would withstand an above one hundred degree room just for her comfort. It was nice.

Still, the heat felt different than the other times she awoke in the medical bed. Shuffling closer to the warmth, Y/n finally opened her eyes to find a beautiful sight. Shoto was asleep next to her, wearing a baby blue turtleneck and looking angelic. It wasn’t rare for the two of them to cuddle with his fire side against her- he was well aware of the downside of Y/n’s quirk. He was a little cautious at first, but he soon linked her to the stray cats which followed him during winter. They would constantly sit against his leg once the cold air came back- finding comfort in something he was once scared of.

Now, he loved it. He adored that he could help his beautiful girlfriend. She had once told him that the only time she went extremely low in temperature she had entered a coma, and it took two weeks for the hospital to find someone with a fire quirk strong enough to comfort her. Now, he was there.

Sure it was a little awkward, after all, she had been stripped by the nurse so he could send fire at his unconscious girlfriends body. It was more than a little questionable, and had not both parties and their parents consented to this being a solution (and this not being the only circumstances he’s seen Y/n naked in before), Shoto always felt guilty, like he was taking advantage of his sleeping girlfriend. While he never touched her, and her figure was obscured by the flames, he always covered his eyes. Yet, he still felt guilt chew away at him until she woke up. Until she reassured him she was fine with it, he felt like without her verbal consent he was destroying her trust in him- and it was an emotional wrecking ball every time.

No matter how many time’s Y/n tried to help him understand her appreciation for him, Shoto always felt the desire to dote on her for at least a day afterwards. It was his own special was of saying “I’m sorry,” despite Y/n feeling like he was never in the wrong.

Either way, Y/n wasn’t gong to complain- especially today. Watching him stir awake, Y/n moved slightly away- only for Shoto’s arm to wrap around her and pull Y/n back into his chest.

“I’m sorry,” his lips rested against her hair while he spoke- eyes clenched tight as he tried to preserve the sweet atmosphere.

“Thank you,” Y/n responded, looking up to his face and kissing his noes.

“I called your parents,” he explained, hugging her close and snaking his arms around her waist.

“Yeah?” She smiled- already knowing how that conversation probably went. Her parents loved Shoto; the already treated him better than either of their biological children. They were hesitant at first, hateful on their worst days. While they generaly were distrustful of heros, the L/n’s were known to despise Endeavor.

That said, it took two visits to her house for Y/n’s parents to adore Shoto, their opinions of him completely switched when they learned of the mutual hatred the tree of them held towards his father. It was a cute family bonding moment, one Y/n can’t help but wish she caught on camera. Ever since then, Shoto was their favorite child. He was the one who they couldn’t say no to.

“They said they’re okay with you spending the night in my dorm,”

“Of course they are,” Y/n linked her hands behind his neck and peppered kisses across his face, “they love you. If I get pregnant they know you’ll most likely propose, and that’s what they want more than anything else.”

He hummed in a light hearted response, nuzzling closer to her and kissing her quickly. “Are you still freezing, love?”

“Trust me,” she moved her lips against his again, losing herself in his heat in his scent, “I’m far from it.”

For The Night (my forever)

T. Shoto x Reader B. Katsuki x Reader

Warnings: Cheating -Maybe it was the hazy room, or maybe it was the fact that he was at home waiting for her to come crawling back to him. Anything could have caused her to make this decision, this lapse of judgment- but he, who had loved her since freshman year, has never been happier.

For The Night (my Forever)

The room was filled with a haze of light and bodies moving together. The music bounced off the walls, but, to her, it all seemed muffled. Some would say she had too much to drink, but Y/n wasn’t pessimistic like that- she liked to think that she was just giving the bartender more opportunities for money.

Drink after drink and dance after dance, she grew more and more numb to the pain, and eventually, she forgot why she was there in the first place. She shook her head as if that erased the thought from her head, and hundreds of strangers welcomed Y/n back onto the dancefloor.

Their touch felt so foreign, it felt almost wrong, but that’s what she’s trying to fix- the whole point of her going out was to feel good by herself. She wanted people to see her, she wanted them to notice her- but then why did the hands that were on her waist feel more like sludge than fun?

They were rough with her, keeping her tightly in place while they danced. The man that had chosen her as his temporary dance partner was obviously used to taking the lead. That must be why it’s so different.

---

“Y/n? Babe?” Her blond boyfriend awkwardly stood next to the food table at the school dance. He didn’t dance, and he was obviously out of his comfort zone- but he did it for her.

“You look so cute, Katsu,” She teased him lightly, and a smile spread wide on her face.

“Sh-shut up!” He blushed lightly and looked away with a glare.

“Sorry Katsuki, here,” she reached her hand out to him, “dance with me.”

“I don’t dance,”

“You do tonight,”

Y/n grabbed a hold of his hand and led him slightly away from the ongoing party. She brought him outside the cafeteria doors, and she wrapped her hands around his neck. After about five seconds of him doing nothing, she huffed and put his hands on her waist.

He complied, but she had to be the one to start swaying back and forth. She hummed softly to the faint music, and her head rested on his shoulder. That was one of the highlights in their relationship, and little did she know someone was watching- completely heartbroken and falling apart.

---

“Y/n?” A deep voice had reached her ears, and her y/e/c eyes slammed open at her name with a new sense of fear taking over.

She looked around quickly before seeing Todoroki standing a little away from her. She walked away from the people surrounding her, and she smiled up at her hot-n-cold friend.

A smile had made its way to Todoroki’s face when he saw her visibly relax when she saw it was him calling out to her. Why does she make my heart feel so warm?

“What’re you doing here?” It was hard to imagine Y/n here, in this dirty and over-filled club known for the drugs that coursed through its veins.

“Well honestly,” She twiddled her thumbs and looked down, “I didn’t think anyone I cared about would find me here, and there are some people I’m trying to stay away from.”

Todoroki nodded and looked her up and down. Y/n’s once smooth eyeliner had smudged and her tight dress was slightly twisted at the waist. Her ponytail had gained bumps and her ankles were rubbed raw from the strap of her heels. She looked tired, but more importantly, she looked uncomfortable.

Her elbows had small scratches from her nails- a nervous habit she had even in their UA days. Her shoulders shifted as she moved her weight from side to side, and her eyes locked with his, as she tried to focus only on her friend that stood in front of her.

“Do you want me to take you home?”

She bit her lip, and the soft red lipstick was transferred to her teeth as concern washed over her. “He’s waiting for me, I can feel it,”

“Then...” Shoto looked at his feet before bashfully looking up, “How about you come home with me?”

---

The rain hit the top of his car, as they drove to Todoroki’s apartment. Music was playing, but to y/n it seemed as if it was muffled two rooms away from where she was, even though the radio was in front of her.

She felt electricity run up her arms as she looked over at the boy who had decided to take in the stray. Had he always been so cute?

Y/n blushed and looked away, though her hand had fallen on the console between their seats with her palm up. A small gasp escaped her lips once Todoroki linked their hands together.

A feeling was shared between those two heroes that night. As one looked at the other and quickly looked away, and as their touches were fleeting but longing, they had a shared thought.

Tonight, just for one night of their lives, they would fall in love. An entire love-story in three hours, just so they could know what could have been, what they had chosen another course over.

“Y/n?” Todoroki led her into his living room, his hair hung loosely by his eyes as he looked up at her.

“Mmhmm?”

“If tomorrow,” he grabbed one of her hands, “you leave my arms to go back to him, if I never get to see you again and live knowing you’re getting these things from someone else, then I need you to be mine for the night,” he was illuminated by the fire he had burning behind him, making him appear devilishly handsome and all too alluring.

“For the night,” Y/n looked at his eyes, down to his lips, and back up again.

“Just for the night,” he stepped closer and grabbed her by the waist, “all mine.”

Y/n wrapped her legs around his waist, melting into his kiss and returning his fiery passion. It wasn’t the kind of kiss you see in movies, it was the bruised-lips wanted-for-years kinda kiss that hurt your teeth, but the ache felt so good.

And for the night, Todoroki had what he always wanted. But morning came, and Y/n went.

A Winter’s Break (Bakugo x Reader)

Fandom: Boku No Hero Warnings: Eating, Swear, reference of sex Words: 864 Prompt: Domestic - Really just small little snippets of a day in the life of an off-duty pro-hero Bakugo Day #: 2 AN!! Don’t be afraid to send in requests for the rest of the month! Things are still open so don’t be shy!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Good morning lover boy,” Y/n smirked, finally coming to the decision to wake up her doting boyfriend.

“No,” he grumbled, rolling over to face her and slightly open his eyes. “Come back to bed,” he pleaded, wanting to enjoy her warmth for a little longer.

“I can’t,” she smiled, walking over and kissing his scrunched up noes, “breakfast is ready.” she turns to walk away, only to have her arm be snagged before she could leave.

With a swift tug on her wrist and turn of her body, Bakugo rolled her over to face him, then pulled her close and rested his face on the top of her head. “It’ll be there when we’re done,” he whispered, snuggling deep into her side of the shared bed.

Y/n laughed, slightly shaking her head. “You get one day off for all the hard work you do, and you wanna sleep all day? What happened to spending time with me,” by the end she had turned her lips into a frown, almost seeming disappointed in her current predicament.

Katsuki groaned loudly for a few seconds, while he grabbed her lower thighs and sat up with her pressed against him. She shrieked playfully, surprised by the sudden elevation, as he carried her out of the bedroom.

“You wanted this,” he reminded her, chuckling as he talked with a smirk on his face.

“No no no no no no no no no!” She shrieked, knowing full well that he was about to throw her onto the couch.

“C’mon princess, you wanted to eat breakfast together,” he smiled, lifting her high above his head and dropping her on the plush cushions of their couch. Her shriek as she bounced up and down left Katsuki howling in laughter, only catching his breath after he snorted twice.

Still trying to find her footing, Y/n tugged on his arm, “Let’s get some coffee,” she smiled- delighted she could finally get him out of bed on the rare occasion of a day off.

“Thank you love,” he said, sitting across from her with his plate of food and cup of coffee.

---------------------------------------------------

“And you’re sure I have to go to this thing?” Bakguo grumbled, standing in his tuxedo- struggling with the tie.

“Yes bear, you have to go,” Y/n called out from the bathroom where she was changing into an outfit of her own.

“Why can’t I come to your party? It’s not fair, other guys get to see you all night and I can’t see you once,” he called back, undong the mess of a tie he had unsuccessfully finished.

“You know why, sponsors will be there! You do still wanna start your own pro-hero agency right?” she teased, finally coming out of the bathroom, “of course we could always play hookie and get started on those mini-heroes of ours,” she smiled, tying his tie and wiping off some stray lint from the corner of his shoulder.

“How the hell did you do that?” He asked, looking into the mirror to see a perfectly tied tie starring back at him.

“Oh you know, past boyfriends and shit,” she laughed, dipping out of the room.

“Oi! You little shit, get back here!” He growled, shaking his head and grabbing his phone and wallet.

God, he thought, how did I ever get someone as perfect as her?

------------------------------------------------------

“This is getting ridiculous,” Y/n grumbled, glaring at the board game sat inbetween her boyfriend and herself.

“C’mon,” he smirked, shuffling the cards once again, “I’m sure you win! Eventually.”

“Oh shush!” Y/n hissed, folding her arms and glaring at the coffee table.

“Hey, it’s not my fault you can’t play well,” he teased, dealing out the cards to both of them. “Good luck,” he winked, looking at his hand.

Five minutes of self-doubt and complete and utter confusion plagued bakugo, as he watched himself lose harder and harder as the game moved on. In complete disbelief, he watched Y/n confidently play her last card before standing up and stretching.

“This was fun, lover boy, but i’m beat- let’s go to bed,” she yawned, walking out from the living room to their apartment- not looking back once.

Maybe if she had gloated, or maybe simply celebrated. She could have looked back, she could have smiled, but she didn’t. She walked away.

Dammit Y/n! he put the cards and boardgame away, You were playing me the whole time, weren’t you!

----------------------------------------------------

The cold nipped at them both that night, forcing them to take refuge in eachothers lives- snuggling close for heat. The city lights shined into their bedroom, illuminating Bakugou’s face.

“Katsu?” She whispered, looking up to his eyes.

He grumbled in his sleep, not quiet talking.

“I can’t sleep,” she said, moving closer to him.

“And that’s my problem?” He complained, his voice gruff and scratchy.

“No...” she said, turning around and curling into her bed.

“Hey,” he said, wrapping an arm around her waist, “I’m just joking.” He kissed her ear. “Stay close, I’ll keep you warm,” he promised, engulfing her in a hug.

“I love you,” she whispered, turning back to him- burying her face into his chest and taking one hand in her own.

“I love you too, don’t forget that,”

What’s In A Forever

Pairing: S. Aizawa x Male! Reader

Rating: 14+

Words: 1k334

Warnings: Adoption Restictions

Request: Anon <3--  Mind if I request a fluffy scenario for Aizawa where in the past, his male s/o gave him a promise ring promising that he would marry him in the future, but then a time skip to the present where there both pro heroes, Aizawa and his husband both married with two children, the first being eri, and the other being a baby boy named Oboro (who Aizawa named after his friend), who which looks more like Aizawa

A/n:  As of April 2020 Same-Sex couples are not allowed to adopt in Japan. This work will be gently ignoring this outraging fact! Enjoy and read on!

Whats In A Forever

Perhaps forever isn’t what it’s meant to be. Maybe things shouldn’t end up how they’ve planned– Sure the dream was nice and all, but it wasn’t particle. They were just kids after all, it wasn’t realistic for then to end up with the happily ever after they had dreamed of; especially with the line of work they planned on dedicating their lives to.

The lunch rush was just subsiding when the rooftop-quintumplet sat with their meals. The cafeteria was always a little too crowded, one too many peering eyes. It was much more comfortable outside on the roof.

Aizawa had taken his signature place against the old and broken air vent, which always resulted in his sneezing throught the day while Nemuri.

Yamada and Shirakumo were conjoined at the hip since the two groups had merged. Their personalities meshed well, though Yamada’s noise levels were enough for anyone to get annoyed.

It had been the beginning of year two when Y/n and Oboro had joined forces with Shouta and Hizashi. They hadn’t interacted at all in their first year of school– not with Shouta hyper focused on proving himself worthy of the hero course, with the minor exception of Shouta and Y/n going to the same internship.

Nothing had happened between them, of course. Oh no– surely all the time they soend training together and nights spent learning in ths dark streets hadnt resulted in tention building between them. They exchanged numbers and met up outside of the internships, and it might not have been completely out of the question if they flirted a little. It’s possible there was a small, itty bitty, minuscule, mutual attraction between them, but nothing serious. Nothing at all.

They hadn’t done anything- and they definitely didn’t tell anyone. They were fine with this, with sitting shoulder to shoulder at lunch. They had their little looks and inside jokes- late night work outs and study sessions. They had all they needed- it would be selfish to demand more than that.

Y/n and Shouta seemed to mesh just as well as Oboro and Yamada. Shouta was thoughtful, he had only a few people he enjoyed being around, and when someone’s excepted into his friend group it’s almost as satisfying as a cat claiming their lap for a nap.

Y/n seemed to be the opposite of Shota. He either knew or was friends with everyone. It never mattered to him what their quirk was, who they liked or what they enjoyed, he truly got along with everyone, including Shota’s long-time older ‘rival’, Toshinori.

Y/n understood where Shouta was coming from, he truly did, but Yagi always had good advise- and an even better taste in jewelry. It was a weird thing to know, but Toshinori seemed to be well-versed in everything when it came to jewelry.

The velvet box sitting in his back pocket was a reminder of their little shopping trip. It was a pretty little box, but inside was all of the doubts and fears he had, all of his insecurities were piled into one place. It was a heavy box, but the red color only reminded him of the blush on Shouta’s cheeks, of late night talks and locked pinkies, it was their love- flaws and all.

This little box held the glares they received in the halls and the abuse they faced from protesters, but it also represented their hour long conversations- every time they talked about a flat in the city, one with a floor length window and two cats, and the names of their fur babies. This box was everything that they were- everything they will be. It was them.

And now, all that was left to do was give it to him.

“Shouta,” Y/n whispered to his boyfriend. He stood behind Shouta while they gazed out on the stars. The night sky was beautiful, but Y/n couldn’t bring himself to admire it.

“Yeah?” He breathed, not able to remove his sight from the twinkling stars that look just like the ones in his beloved’s eyes.

“Babe,” Y/n said, lowering himself to one knee.

Shouta turned around and took a stark breath in, “What are you doing?”

“I- Shouta... I love you,”

Aizawa’s eyes darted around the empty rooftop, but the only other things up there were his boyfriend and a velvet box. “Y/n,”

“I know that-” Y/n stopped to sniffle and re-gather the air that had flown from his lungs. “We’ve faced a lot in our lives. I know that some people will never approve of us being together, and I know we’re going to have to fight a lot harder. But I also know that I love you, and I want to be with you,”

“Y/n, we can’t get married,” Shouta said, shaking his head.

“I know! I know, this isn’t an engagement ring- not yet. Just a promise. A promise that I’ll be with you through everything- the ups and the downs. And one day, even if we lose a lot on the way, we’ll be able to get married. I don’t care what it costs because I love- I love- I love you,” tears have stained the concrete floor beneath Y/n’s head, and the dark grey was barley visible even with the stars illuminating the area around them.

“Do you really think that we’ll be able to be together?” He asked, not looking down from the sky- mostly in fear of joining his boyfriend in his tears.

“I do! There are places that allow it! Even if we can never be married here, I’ll take you somewhere else! We’ll go to Canada, or the Netherlands, or Massachusetts! I’ll take you where ever we have to go, as long as you say yes,”

Shouta got down next to his boyfriend and collapsed into his shoulder, burying his teary eyes into his neck. “Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes...”

For what felt like an hour they sat there, with bruised knees and puddles of tears on the floor, and yes’s were exchanged never-ending.

Well fast-forward 15 years and it’s now 2020. The flat is amazing, and they curl up next to each other and read on rainy days- looking out to the twinkling lights of the city. The cat’s are named Buttercup and Snowball, but there was an addition of a kitten that they took in- Mittens.

The ring he once had to wear on a chain hidden beneath his shirt was now re-sized and on his finger, sitting daintily next to the marriage ring that they exchanged not ten years prior.

Their forever was beautiful- working together as under-ground hero’s was a dream come true. But, even though he hates to admit it, Y/n feels a bit better knowing his husband is now working mostly out of a classroom. It’s comforting to know only one of them is doing stupid things 24/7.

Even though their future has everything they wanted it to, it’s not quite like how they imagined. Taking in a little girl with a dangerous quirk was an unexpected addition to their road, but Eri made every day magical.

Even after adopting the beautiful girl, Shouta had approached Y/n with the idea of taking in another child. While his argument was that he didn’t want Eri to be lonely when both of her dad’s were at work. Y/n knew right away that her husband had gotten baby fever.

After discussing the legalistics for months, they adopted their first boy. His beautiful black hair was scarily similar to Shouta’s, and he also had the traditional Y/L/N family red-eyes.

Eri loved Oboro, named after their fallen best friend, with all of her heart. While they still mourn their best friend, it’s almost like he lives on through his name’s sake. They can see him in the baby’s smile, in his laugh and face, it’s Oboro through and through.

The future is hard to predict, and it’s even harder to deal with. It’s full of twists and turns, heartbreak and love, it’s a never ending paradox that changes the moment you think you figure it out. It’s pain and joy, it’s a contradiction to everything logical.

But here, surrounded by his family, Y/n can’t help but to watch the stupid disney movie and think, what’s really in a forever?

In The Absence Of Heart

Mha B. Katsuki x Reader 14+ : Alcohol, angst, breakup

In The Absence Of Heart

If there was one think Bakugo was amazing at, it was breaking Y/n’s heart. She sat at her vanity, brushing out her hair from a long day at work. “When will you be getting home tonight?”

“Uhh,” He trailed off, finishing his tie inside their walk-in closet, “not sure. It’s a business dinner though.” Bakugo walked out and his eyes swiped past her. “Don’t wait up.”

Y/n looked at him slipping on his expensive black shoes next to the door and tried to find something to say. “Good luck.”

He left without looking back at her.

The corners of Y/n’s eyes pressed together, her tongue starting too feel uncomfortable within her mouth. With a shake of her head- as if ridding herself from thoughts anxious monsters whispered to her- Y/n turned to the kitchen.

She sat at the stool beside the island of their apartment for an hour, not moving. When she stood she couldn’t feel the soreness in her legs, only a desire to drink the wine stored for a rough night.

She crouched down, opening the wine fridge and taking it from its place. Opening in, Y/n sighed as she filled the expensive wineglass halfway. Glancing up, uninterested in the clap of thunder, she saw the rain pouring through the glass window leading to their balcony.

Bakugo used to sit with her every night on that balcony, side by side until he got cold- or maybe noticed her shiver- and he’d pull her into his seat instead of going inside. They talked about everything: work, friends, memories, the future.. all of it.

She closed her eyes and, for a second, they were on that balcony. Clad in comfy sweaters close together, his hand drawing circles on her thigh while she read. For a second, they were together.

Y/n scoffed- she can’t remember the last time they sat on the balcony together. She grabbed the stem of her wine glass and walked out from behind the island towards the living-room.

She paced slowly, admiring the wall of pictures added through the five years of their relationship. They’d started dating senior year of high school. Now, out of college, Y/n wondered if she made the right choice.

She ran her finger along the image of herself wearing high school graduation robes, surrounded by her friends. Everyone looked so happy then. Taking another step she saw a picture of a post-high school getaway. Most of the class was there, and Y/n was sitting between Ochaco’s legs during a movie night, watching the horror movie- Denki’s choice if she remembered correctly. She looked for Bakugo in the group photo, only to remember he was the one who took it. That’s why I’m at the center of the picture, she mused- taking a sip of wine, cute.

The other photos were from Y/n’s first product launch after graduating college- top of her class. She was a hero item specialist, working primarily with elemental quirks. She shook her head, remembering the jealous glare in Bakugo’s eyes after picking her up from another consult with Shoto. He had wrapped his arms around her waist as soon as he could. If she tried hard enough, she could feel his ghost lingering around her body.

She breathed out and opened her eyes, walking past the photos from their vacations together- blissful and in love. She stood outside the balcony door, her finger smoothly crossing the glass. However long she stood there for, hours had passed since Katuski had left the apartment.

As if haunted by her own ghost, Y/n opened the balcony door. She walked evenly outside, each step the same length as the last. The chill wrapped around her instantly, covering her in it’s bitter embrace, this feels familiar.

She sat down in the large, wooden, patio chair. Her hands sat in her lap as she pulled up her feet, tucking her knees together to the side to curl in on herself. Five hours since he left- she looked at the wine glass- when did I fill it again?

She pursed her lips and took another sip of wine, watching the rain fall. One of the perks of living in one of the highest apartment buildings in Japan was the view. Her eyes absorbed the landscape as best as she could, trying to etch it into her memory. Maybe this will comfort me, she mused, for what’s to come.

She ran her palm across her face, rough and determined. She pulled out her phone and searched through her recent contacts, until she had to switch over to the contact list and dial his number.

“Where are you?”

Bakguo paused, hearing her voice. It was so soft and fragile- like an angel. “What about you?”

She muffled her sniffle- “I’m at home,”

He tried to picture her in his apartment, but his brain just couldn’t see the image as clearly as he used to. “I’m just getting in a cab.”

“Are you almost home?” Y/n shifted her knees to be against her chest.

Bakguo looked around the bar he was sitting at, nursing a glass of whiskey. “I’m sorry.”

Her eyes widened, she shook her head as the corners of her lips pulled down. “For what?”

He clenched his eyes shut, his hand tightening around the phone in pain. “Just..” his noes scrunched up, “everything.”

Y/n thought of him for a second, thought of his voice which was rough and so emotional, or his scent of that burnt sugar everyone thought was so peculiar. Or maybe she could feel his arms wrapping around her again. “Just come home safe.”

He shook his head, his hands falling from his face- “I left my wallet there.”

Y/n flinched, tears prickling her eyes to mirror the rain falling from the sky.

“Uh-”

“Hey-”

Their voies cut into each other. Her will diminished “Never mind.” Her throat was filled with the butterflies escaping the massacre in her abdomen.

“No, tell me.”

Y/n clenched her eyes shut, tears still falling anyway. She tried to catch her breath but her heartfelt like it was being pierced by her ribcage- is that possible? Her breath out became more of a cry than a breath.

Bakugo winced at the sound, drinking as much whiskey as he could in one sip. The sounds surrounding him faded, as his focus was only on the phone call, his own heart starting to beat harder.

“I don’t think we’re in love anymore.”

There it was. Bakugo’s eyes clenched shut, as she became all he could see. Her hair fanned out on his pillow, her hand hidden inside his, her crinkled noes as he peppered kisses across her face, her scent that lingered around the apartment, he became surrounded by her.

“We can’t,” Y/n’s voice broke as she spoke, having to clear in to continue in a harder tone, “we can’t fix this, Katsu.”

Everything was gone now. His crimson eyes starred down at the bottom of glass and raised his hand for another. He’d go home late, he decided. Give Y/n time to do what she wanted to without him breathing down her neck.

“So this is it, huh.”

The words were sandpaper sliding up his throat, ripping him to shreds.

She looked at the skyline, “Yeah.”

Bakugo came home at three in the morning, taking in his apartment. He looked around, seeing some items gone from their home. Her favorite mugs, a few pictures, the blanket she got as a graduation gift, all gone.

He walked into the bathroom- not even a toothbrush was forgotten. His heart began to beat into his throat as the alchol left his system- panic welling up. Turning to the bedroom, which was the same except for the vanity table, and the walk in wardrobe, which was now more empty space than clothes. He slumped down on the bed, breathing in.

Her scent lingered in the apartment for three months, in their bedroom for four, and her pillowcase for five.

Six months gone and they’ve not spoken.

Bakugo sits at his island, looking at the storm outside through the glass doors leading to the balcony.

Strange, he thinks, how i’ve not been out there in what feels like forever.

He stumbled as he walked, speeding up only to slow down again. He didn’t hesitate when he made it to the glass doors, stepping outside.

Bakugo turned to the wooden chairs and table, sitting down and looking at the place they used to spend hours together in. A piece of paper, curled from drying after being exposed to the elements, rested there. He touched it delicately, as if it would disintegrate in his hands.

Y/n leaned forward in her chair, taking a sip of wine and writing her message.

“Thank you for giving me this view, I’ll never forget it.”
