Sometimes I listen to a song and imagine myself at the artist’s concert while said song is playing and it feels so good and eveyrthing is loud and beautiful and god I hate myself

When your squad is together 

This is Laerte Coutinho. She’s a brazilian cartoonist who is very well known for her work- as well as for coming out as a transgender woman at the age of 57, in 2010. With all of the talk about the amazing Caitlyn Jenner, I wanted to spare a moment to remember other famous people that had (and still have) to face mass discrimination, both from public and media. And I chose Laerte because for me, hearing about her five years ago on TV may have been what made me realize that there is no wrong time to be yourself.

Laerte’s page in Wikipedia, in english, is with the right pronouns. The one in portuguese is not. And she, too, deserves respect.

Whenever I see a post comparing some country to the United States with things like “we don’t have this in america” I laugh to myself and think “we don’t have this in a whole fucking continent but wAKE UP AMERICA”
