Does anyone have tips for learning how to cook when you're absolutely terrified of it?

I am so scared of cooking (mainly out of fear of failure) that the most I can make is boxed foods and maaaaaybe stir fry if I'm brave enough

Anybody in Minnesota/the Dakotas know of any grass replacements that are native to our area? I want to convince the parentals to replace our grass with some native stuff because water usage and things but I'm not sure what to look at, if that makes sense
