Sometimes I’ll look at my OCs and be like “ah yes. My story babies that I put through multiple conflicts and challenges for entertainment. Yes, what interesting specimen, I shall study them more”
But most times it’s like I’m rabidly but affectionately chewing them up like a dog toy and rolling them around on the floor at 3AM. This is completely normal human behavior.
Thanks for the tag, and great line, @moonandris ! Gonna share something from my debut book, The Tengu And The Angel, which is being released in two weeks' time!
I put my hand on his thigh. "Angel, I'm gonna take you straight to Heaven."
Tagging @villemel and @lady-grace-pens !
No Context WIP Tag Game
Share a line from a WIP with no context. 💗
Thank you so much for the tag @deanwax I really needed a lil nudgie nudge because I've been stuck with writers block and I've been dying to hop into my writing again in any capacity. Tag games always help with that. It's also a bit more than a line, my bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I shall also give a little nudgie nudge (absolutely no pressure) to @shadow-of-tea-and-tea @kalihellwillhopefullywrites @alinacapellabooks @spamfromlee @the-ethereal-lorestar
Raine knew from the moment he was slapped awake to a dark holding cell, hands cuffed behind his back, a bucket of ice water dumped over his head: this time he had seriously fucked up.
Currently dealing with the not-so-fun elements of being a professional writer, AKA, filling out the forms I need to fill out to register as self-employed so that I can legally sell my books. Please wish me luck, I really need it right now. Taxes suck ass >.<
the fact that we only have “herculean task” and “sisyphean task” feels so limiting. so here’s a few more tasks for your repertoire
icarian task: when you have a task you know you’re going to fail at anyways, so why not have some fun with it before it all comes crashing down
cassandrean task: when you have to deal with people you KNOW won’t listen to you, despite having accurate information, and having to watch them fumble about when you told them the solution from the start (most often witnessed in customer service)
feel free to chime in i ran out of ideas much faster than i anticipated
if i have to read one more published fantasy book that uses irl memes and online vernacular in its dialogue i’m taking away the toys until y’all can learn to respect yourselves. Not only does it break immersion in your world and detract from your characters having their own voices, it also makes you, the author, seem like a dim parrot incapable of neither original thought nor basic understanding of the passage of time
1) due to the timeline of publishing, any meme included will automatically be hopelessly dated by the time the story reaches readers and
2) it’s literally the same thing Ready Player One did. Hey look i’m pointing at a thing in pop culture. Did you get my reference? Did you get it? Let me list some more colors and shapes you recognize. Did you get it? And then Gideon Nav hit the dab or whatever. Hashtag Relatable!
It’s so painfully unfunny and uncompelling every time. We can do better. Apply some creativity to your own work
