basically (one of my many) understandings of how the Jellicle choice works is that a cats song is like throwing their hat in the ring to be chosen.

This doesn’t apply to all, but *if* it did, would “Macavity the mystery cat” count? Cause if it did, by that logic you could set up anyone to go up there by just singing about them. But do they have to agree for it to count? Or is it just free willy? Because we can see that a cat doesn’t need to sing their song to be eligible with Jenny, and background jellicle dancers aren’t a requirement either (i.e memory) so….
