Reblog and say in the tags which Sherlock Holmes stories haunt you. Not necessarily the ones you like best, but the ones that keep playing in your mind and make you toss and turn at night and pull your hair and sob into your pillow. Please. I need to feel more normal.
I suppose. I think s&co's episodic and comedic nature isn't supposed to foster a lot of character development. John's arrogance has been there throughout, I just think he's gotten a lot more confident!
Watson is quite arrogant, even in the canon, it works well to create tension between him and Holmes, and that's its main purpose in s&co aswell.
He must be absolutely sure of one view of the world so Holmes can pick it apart and show us all reality.
But it's a taste thing I guess, because I'm personally enjoying the new focus on Jonks flaws!
Does anyone else think John's character is shifting in Sherlock and co like yeah he's always been an arse but recently that's been very amplified, John is a good friend and always has been to Mariana and Sherlock but there's something that feels like it's charging specifically after the Shoscombe old place almost a bit too arrogant as of recent.
I'm not taking a shit on John as a character don't get me wrong but he's definitely changed and I don't think that's for the better.
Maybe I'm being padantic about it and bringing up a small detail or maybe I've just noticed things about John from listening to Sherlock and co a bit too much .
Tag urself! I'm fagplan, the plan is be gay do crimes

danish is a beautiful language
“As Watson bellows Holmes’s name repeatedly over the falls, we see Holmes clinging to the hillside some distance away, watching his friend. At one moment it almost seems as though he is about to respond with a cry of ‘Watson’, but then he stops himself. Brett explained: ‘That was deliberate. It wasn’t in the script but I just wanted to show that Holmes had affections for Watson and for a fleeting second they almost get the better of his practical mind. But they don’t. [Large Brett grin.] It is a moment.’”

Granada Holmes enjoyers do yourselves the favor of listening and reading this play. It's a treat, I tell you, a real treat!
The Secret of Sherlock Holmes play with Jeremy Brett & Edward Hardwicke, 1988/1989

Finding out that this play existed was one of the best days ever. I can't believe this is a thing that actually happened, I literally think about it daily, what a cool thing. This one is up at the top of my time machine list (the one where I discover time travel and only use it to go see shows and concerts in the past) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just thinking about Jeremy Brett's voice (as Holmes !) booming across a theater that I am sitting in gives me chills.
I know I'm not the first person to post about this play, but if even one Granada Holmes fan sees this post and gets to discover this play, I think that would be pretty neat.
reblog or reply with your love song. you know, the one that you think is what love sounds like

dont lie john, we all know you only own three shirts
i think a period piece sherlock holmes that portrays him as gay (which i find a plethora of support in the text—not just in an attraction to watson, but through complex connotations and contexts contemporary to victorian gender and sexuality) could do so much on the topic of criminality.
what does it mean to be a criminal? what does it mean to police, but not be police? to dole out justice on your own terms? to be born a criminal? to be a detective in a period that collapsed the gay man with the criminal with the gender dissident, all of which were considered innate degenerative biological categories? how does someone deal with being born a criminal while also working within and outside the law as holmes does?

Going crazy over the parallels between Sherlock and Moriarty from this week’s s&c episode rn.
Literally one of the main ways Moriarty is described in the book is through his criminal web, with him as the spider (an image that’s stuck with me and is prominent in many adaptations)

And the fact that they used a pretty similar metaphor for Sherlock??? And it’s used heavily throughout the whole episode?!? SO GOOD AAA
Makes me super excited when they get to The Final Problem and will presumably use Moriarty’s spider motif to then connect it with this one. They’re both spiders in a way— they wait at the center and study how to take down their prey. But they’re also opposite at the same time. Sherlock’s web is for determining suspects and deducing the criminal, and Moriarty’s is for organizing and maintaining his criminal schemes and people.
I just think it’s neat how they’re adding a whole another level to their similarities!!
Srsly need this game tho! Looks cool
Played an escape room game last night.

'The Disappearance of Sherlock Holmes'
It's starts with a letter from Sherlock to Dr. Watson. Fun one, but 2 riddles were annoyingly difficult. Solved it, but it took us 210 minutes. 😅

This is Yamper btw:

Very on brand for John
Sherlock, setting down a card: Ace of Spades
Mariana, pulling out an UNO card: +4
John, pulling out a Pokémon card: Yamper, I choose you!
Sherlock, trembling: What are we playing?
i think what would be super cool would be if after the inevitable 'final problem' sherlock & co episode, if instead of the next episode being 'the empty house', they follow the books* so to speak, and have the next bunch of cases be from a back catelogue? like audio from cases that john had recorded previously but hadn't published, but he decides to release them to honour sherlock's 'memory'. then you could have cutaways to the present where you really get to feel john and mariana's grief, and let them, (and the audience) really feel the loss of where sherlock should be, before his eventual return.
*note, when i say 'follow the books', i don't mean make me wait 10 entire years for the reunion, although that would be low-key iconic tbh

I sure fucking love it when they do the thing :')

We all know this site is US-user heavy, but I wanna know how many are vs aren't from the land of capitalism.
