Granada Holmes Enjoyers Do Yourselves The Favor Of Listening And Reading This Play. It's A Treat, I Tell
Granada Holmes enjoyers do yourselves the favor of listening and reading this play. It's a treat, I tell you, a real treat!
The Secret of Sherlock Holmes play with Jeremy Brett & Edward Hardwicke, 1988/1989

Finding out that this play existed was one of the best days ever. I can't believe this is a thing that actually happened, I literally think about it daily, what a cool thing. This one is up at the top of my time machine list (the one where I discover time travel and only use it to go see shows and concerts in the past) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just thinking about Jeremy Brett's voice (as Holmes !) booming across a theater that I am sitting in gives me chills.
I know I'm not the first person to post about this play, but if even one Granada Holmes fan sees this post and gets to discover this play, I think that would be pretty neat.

'The Disappearance of Sherlock Holmes'
It's starts with a letter from Sherlock to Dr. Watson. Fun one, but 2 riddles were annoyingly difficult. Solved it, but it took us 210 minutes. 😅
“As Watson bellows Holmes’s name repeatedly over the falls, we see Holmes clinging to the hillside some distance away, watching his friend. At one moment it almost seems as though he is about to respond with a cry of ‘Watson’, but then he stops himself. Brett explained: ‘That was deliberate. It wasn’t in the script but I just wanted to show that Holmes had affections for Watson and for a fleeting second they almost get the better of his practical mind. But they don’t. [Large Brett grin.] It is a moment.’”

reblog or reply with your love song. you know, the one that you think is what love sounds like
I suppose. I think s&co's episodic and comedic nature isn't supposed to foster a lot of character development. John's arrogance has been there throughout, I just think he's gotten a lot more confident!
Watson is quite arrogant, even in the canon, it works well to create tension between him and Holmes, and that's its main purpose in s&co aswell.
He must be absolutely sure of one view of the world so Holmes can pick it apart and show us all reality.
But it's a taste thing I guess, because I'm personally enjoying the new focus on Jonks flaws!
Does anyone else think John's character is shifting in Sherlock and co like yeah he's always been an arse but recently that's been very amplified, John is a good friend and always has been to Mariana and Sherlock but there's something that feels like it's charging specifically after the Shoscombe old place almost a bit too arrogant as of recent.
I'm not taking a shit on John as a character don't get me wrong but he's definitely changed and I don't think that's for the better.
Maybe I'm being padantic about it and bringing up a small detail or maybe I've just noticed things about John from listening to Sherlock and co a bit too much .
