It was surprisingly simple to regain the easy companionship between them. The trust just came easily, as if it were ingrained deep within the both of them. And Insight was glad that the two of them could rely on one another.
There weren’t many that Insight could depend on, especially since Hydra wasn’t an organization known for its reliable and trustworthy members. Backstabbing and betrayal was commonplace in the never ending pursuit of power. And agents of any level were willing to put Insight—a mere tool—in danger for their own personal gain.
But not the Asset. He’d yet to betray Insight, and Insight certainly appreciated that.

You could feel your heart beating fast against your chest as you checked the clock on your desk again. Steve had said he would come to pick you up for your “two people party” which honestly sounded more like a date to you, and you were growing more excited and nervous by the minute.
“Y/N?” Your mom knocked on the door and you jumped into your bed, pulling the blankets to your chin as your mom opened the door.
“Mom?” You fake-yawned and your mom smiled at you.
“Just wanted to check on you sweetie, go back to sleep.”
“Good night.” You muttered, closing your eyes and your mom turned off the light, then closed the door silently. You waited until you heard her walking away and closing another door-probably the bedroom- and pushed the blankets off of you, and turned off the light on your nightstand to walk to the mirror. You considered trying some make up on, but the lack of light and experience made you change your mind. Taking a look at your clothes for the hundredth time, you heaved a sigh and sat back to bed, trying to calm down.
You heard a small noise coming from your window, but you paid no attention to it, since there was a huge tree in front of your window and its branches hit the window whenever there was a wind. You ran your hands through your hair, but then frowned when they noise didn’t stop as if-
As if someone was throwing small pebbles to your window.
You jumped on your feet and rushed to the window to pull the curtains aside, then looked down to see Steve, who stopped throwing the rocks as soon as he saw you. You could feel the fire spreading over your cheeks as you pushed the window up. After making sure it would stay open, you grabbed the closest branch to the window and stepped over the windowpane, then went down like you would when you were a child.
“Wow.” Steve said as he helped you down and you grinned.
“My grandma had a big garden when I was a child.” You explained, pushing a strand of your hair behind your ear and Steve looked at the house.
“We’re safe?”
“Yeah, they went to sleep.” You checked the time, “But I’m supposed to be home in two hours. Rosie wakes up at 12 every night, and- my mom might check my room too.”
“Rosie?”
“My baby sister.” You explained, “She’s one years old and gets nightmares.”
“What does a one year old get nightmares about?” Steve wondered out loud, and you shrugged as you both started walking.
“Beats me, I guess losing her toys or something.”
“I wish my nightmares were like that.”
You scoffed, “Yeah, same here,” you mumbled, and Steve eyed you up and down, gulping loudly.
“You- you look really nice, by the way.”
“Really?” You smiled nervously, “Thank you, um- you too.”
Steve tousled his hair, making you think that it was a habit and you cleared your throat.
“So where- um…where are we going?”
“I know this hill, you can see everywhere from there, whole Hawkins.” Steve said, “I’ve lived here for my whole life you see, so…I know everywhere. Are you hungry?”
“Starving!”
“Okay, next question…Do you like chocolate?”
“Who doesn’t like chocolate?” You let out a laugh and he shrugged,
“I don’t know. Some of my-uh…girlfriends didn’t eat it.”
You felt your heart skip a beat, “Your girlfriends?”
A look of realization crossed his face and his eyes widened as he seemed to regret saying it and he waved a hand in the air, motioning for far away.
“In the-in the past. Like years ago. Very long time.” He coughed, “Anyway- I thought, ehm.. There’s this place but they close early, so I got you some,” he motioned at the car.
You bit on your lip, “You bought me chocolate?”
He nodded nervously , stealing a look at the car again as if he wasn’t sure how you’d react.
You giggled “People eat chocolate in parties?” you asked, “Huh. Didn’t know that.”
“Yeah, it’s a classy one.”
“A classy party?” You repeated as he opened the car door for you, and you climbed inside, and buckled your seatbealt, trying to calm yourself down. He got to the driver’s seat and started the car.
“How pissed off would your parents be if they figured it out?” he asked and you took a deep breath,
“Oh, very.” You shook your head, “I would never be able to leave the house ever again.”
“Nah, you’re exaggerating.”
“Am I though?” You shot him a glance and he looked at you for a second before he turned his eyes back to road again.
“Yeah I mean… you’d be sad.”
“Yeah?”
“I don’t know, why would-“ he shrugged, “I can’t imagine someone who’d wanna upset you intentionally.”
You smiled softly, “Unfortunately, that’s not how it works,” you said, “It’s just… my mom would understand maybe, but if my dad saw I’m outside at this hour…”
“That’s why no boyfriends?”
Your head shot up, then you covered your face, “Ugh, you remember that?!”
Steve chuckled, “Oh yeah.”
“So embarrassing,” you shook your head and dropped your hands to your lap, “But I mean…. Let’s say mostly.”
“Mostly?”
“Yeah. I mean there was this one boy when I was 13 years old, and dad saw him and…” you let out a laugh, “He made him change his mind about going to the beach with me.”
“What did he do?”
“I have no clue.” You shrugged, “And I’m supposed to…like, um… No boys until college.”
“College is two years away.”
“Yeah but he doesn’t want me to get distrac- oh my God.” You turned your head to look out the window as soon as he pulled over and you unbuckled your seatbelt to push open the door, then took a couple of steps to see the view better. Whole Hawkins lay in front of your eyes now, houses shining with lights under the starry night, making you feel like you were looking at a dark painting.
“Steve…” You whispered, and turned to see him leaning against the hood of the car, watching you with a smile on his lips, as if he was proud of himself for your reaction.
“It’s very pretty.” You walked to sit on top of the hood beside him and he reached into his jacket’s pocket to take out a big package of chocolate. You smiled as you took it from him, then placed it on the hood carefully, breaking it to take a piece of it to your mouth, then you closed your eyes.
“This might be the best chocolate I’ve ever eaten.”
“Yeah?”
“Oh, absolutely.” You opened your eyes and nodded fervently, chewing on the chocolate, “You need to tell me where you got this from.”
“Maybe,” his eyes were full of mischief, “I could keep it a secret.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” You squinted your eyes at him, making him chuckle.
“I’m guessing you’re trying to look menacing but you actually look adorable.”
“Shut up.” You said, trying to ignore your blushing, and grabbed another piece of chocolate.
“So do you feel better?” he asked you and you heaved a sigh, then nodded, still keeping your eyes focused on the sky as you lay down and he followed you suit.
“I just…” You chewed on the chocolate, deep in thought, “It’s overwhelming, this whole high school thing.”
“You sound like Hawkins is your first high school,” he let out a laugh and you tried to smile, shrugging.
“So far you know more about me than what I know about you,” You said, “So, spill. Who’s Steve Harrington?”
“Oh no one special,” he waved a hand in the air and you glared at him,
“Don’t say that.”
He threw a piece of chocolate in his mouth, “Let’s make a deal,” he said, “For your every question, I’ll get to ask you a question.”
Your smile faded slightly and his eyes searched yours,
“And we can say pass if it’s a question we don’t wanna answer.”
“Deal.” You murmured, “Okay. Do you come here a lot?”
He shrugged, “Whenever I want to think.”
“What do you think about?”
“My turn,” he grinned, “Okay… did you really like the chocolate or are you just being polite?”
“I’d never lie about chocolate,” you said solemnly “What do you think about?”
“Future,” Steve said, “I still- I don’t really know what I wanna do after high school.”
“But at least it’ll be over. I’d kill to be able to go to college now.”
“Yeah but I don’t know what I want to be.” Steve said, “It’s all very soon, you know? I feel like I have this year to plan my future and if I can’t…”
“You could take a break?” You offered “I don’t really think anyone knows what they’ll do after high school.”
“What will you do after high school?”
“I’ll go to university, then I’ll be an elementary school teacher.”
Steve raised his brows, “See? You know.”
“I had more than enough time to think about the future,” You waved a hand, “Okay, my turn. Did your past girlfriends really not eat chocolate?”
Steve scoffed, “Most of them, yeah.”
“Is that why you broke up with them?” You asked, “Because that feels like a deal breaker.”
He let out a chuckle, shaking his head and running his hand through his hair.
“Nah, it’s just…” he licked his lips, “I was an asshole.”
“I find that hard to believe.”
He shook his head again, “No I…I was. I like to think I’m better now, but back then…” he trailed off, “I mean…you can’t force people to love you.”
You pulled your brows together, “I can’t imagine anyone-“ you started, but stopped yourself. Steve shot you a quizzical look and you cleared your throat,
“So it’s what a classy party is, then?” You tried to distract him, “I like this more than Tina’s party, to be honest.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. I mean chocolate definitely makes up for lack of booze…” You broke another piece “And you know, no music but it’s fine-“
“We could have music.”
You looked around, “Where?”
“The radio,” Steve said jumping off the hood, then went to open the car door and got in while you gawked at him,
“Steve-“
“Hold on, I’ll find something.”
“You’re not serious,” You let out a laugh as you stared at him, trying to find a station and then he grinned, turning the volume up. The calm music washed over you as you watched him silently and he got out, fixing his hair again.
“There we go, we have music.”
“You’re unbelievable.” You shook your head and your jaw dropped when he approached you to hold out his hand.
“What?” You asked and he shrugged,
“Come on.”
“What’re we doing?”
“Dancing?” he said, “People dance in parties.”
You shook your head fervently, “I don’t know how to dance.”
“Me neither,” he said and you let out a laugh.
“Steve-“
“Come on,” he insisted, and you took a deep breath.
“I’d mess the whole dance up.”
“Yeah, so will I, so let’s mess it up together?”
You hesitated only for a second before you gave him your hand and he pulled you up, then pulled you closer to his body. Your breath hitched in your throat but you hoped he didn’t notice that as his arm sneaked around your waist and you giggled when he entwined your fingers together.
“We look silly.” You commented as you swayed very, very slowly along the music and he licked his lips,
“Oh yeah, I know.”
“Don’t get mad if I step on your foot, okay?”
He shot you a look as he chuckled, “Don’t be silly…” he murmured as he twirled you, making you let out a squeal and bit on your lip.
“Liar. You know how to dance.”
“A little,” he confessed and for a second, you feared he would actually be able to hear your fast heartbeat. “Are we still doing the questions thing, Detroit?”
“Shoot away, Hawkins.”
“What’s happening with you and Hargrove?”
You pulled back slightly, “Nothing?” you said slowly, “Why?”
Steve shrugged “I just… I was worried about you.”
“Worried about me?” You repeated and he nodded,
“It’s just…he’s an asshole, and I wouldn’t want you to get hurt.”
“I’m fine,” you said “And there’s nothing- nothing will happen.” You stole a look at him, and looked down at your feet, “Besides, Billy isn’t my type.”
“Really?”
“Really.” You nodded, still smiling, “And also…no boys until college, remember?”
Steve hmmed, “And yet here you are.”
“Yet here I am.” You mumbled, and his eyes searched yours, before he gulped loudly.
“Last question of the night.”
“I’m all ears.”
“Can I kiss you?”
Oh God, if tonight didn’t give you a heart attack, there was no way you were getting one at any part of your life. The excitement made you feel almost light-headed, so bad that you didn’t even think you could actually talk, so you nodded, holding your breath before he leaned in.
It wasn’t the all passionate and wild kiss that you had seen on TV or read in the novels, but it was still perfect for you. His lips on yours were very soft and gentle, as if he didn’t want to scare you off, and you stood on your tiptoes as he pulled your closer, before his hand slipped from your cheek to your neck and he pulled back. You found yourself smiling as you opened your eyes and bit at your lip, your whole face on fire. You let out a giggle and buried your face to his chest as he sneaked an arm around your waist once again, swaying you with the music.
“Steve, you can stop here.” You said, making him look around and he slowly stopped the car.
“Are you sure? I can drive you to your-“
“No- it’s…um, it’s better not to risk it.”
“Risk it?”
“I don’t want my dad to see, just in case… just in case he’s up or something.”
He narrowed his eyes as he looked out the car window, “Can you blink your light twice so that I can be sure you got in safe?”
You nodded fervently, “Y-yeah, sure.”
“Can I pick you up tomorrow? Before school?”
You hesitated, “Steve, my dad…”
“He wouldn’t see, I’d be around here.” he motioned at outside and you pushed a strand of your hair behind your ear.
“Um-okay, if you don’t mind,” you mumbled slowly and he smiled at you softly.
“Good night, Y/N.”
You paused only for a second before you placed a rushed kiss on his cheek and pushed open the car door, then started running towards your house, your heart beating like crazy. You pulled yourself up to the tree, got into your room and blinked the light twice before you faintly heard the car driving off. You touched your lips with your fingertips, they felt like they were still burning and you flung yourself onto your bed, then pulled the covers over yourself, a smile warming your face.

Previous 1: Her Morning Takes a Turn

The sun was golden against his skin, shining on the tan color he had come to acquire after so many hours out in the light. It beat down on the flesh, warming it and relaxing him. His arms were folded behind his head as he reclined on the grass. It was soft and cool on his skin; Crete always did have the best grass for lying on. His eyes were closed against the bright light, the rays illuminating his eyelids and highlighting the veins that ran through them. His chest rose and fell with even breaths. If one didn’t know any better, they’d say he was asleep.
But he wasn’t. The young god was just lounging about, listening in on the conversation that was being held not five feet away from him.
