Bucky had taken you out almost every night since you punched him in the nose. Dinner and drinks at the bar down the street, movies on Tuesday nights because they were only five dollars and their buttery popcorn was to die for. You went for walks in the park, holding hands, complaining about Fury and his rigorous syllabus and schedule. On the nights that didn’t involve leaving your apartment, the two of you would turn on Netflix and quickly lose interest in the movie you’d seen many times.

My country is burning.

I can’t exactly figure out the best way to raise money so I’ll do my best to raise awareness.

Bushfires are nothing new to Australians, we have bushfire season and it’s common for it to happen in summer due to crazy high temperatures and winds but we’re not even in summer and we’re in a catastrophic fire season right now.

Since last Friday over 4 lives, 250 homes, 480 outbuildings and 18 facilities have been lost to the fires and over 1 million hectares have been lost in NSW and Queensland. An estimated 350 koalas have died in the fires. 

For the first time since I can remember, my home in the inner city was under a catastrophic fire warning and we’re in a total fire ban. At one point there was over 80 fires burning in my state alone. As of right now there’s 59, 13 which are uncontained.

People have lost lives, houses, livestock, everything.

The video above is a fire burning yesterday in Northern NSW. That is the magnitude we’re dealing with. 

So, I’m making this post in the hopes of raising awareness, and how people can help if they wish to.
