Been Working On This Panther/tiger/cat Hood For The Last Week Or Two.

Been working on this panther/tiger/cat hood for the last week or two.
Here we’ve got the final 3D model in Rhino, then the individual pieces laid out and laser-cut out of the pre-finished black leather I’ve been using for various projects, and partial assembly photos. None of the rivets are set yet, I’m holding off on that until all the parts are put together and I know everything will work right.

This codpiece was a custom request based on a comic book design. (Marvel’s Hercules, I think.) The reference art had a sort of flatter design that doesn’t work very well in real life. I was pretty happy with the volume I managed to get out of 2 pieces of leather.
Used a leather paint on this one instead of the dye that I normally use. I think it worked pretty well for this piece, it felt like it matched the aesthetic of a cell-shaded design. Makes it look more like plastic or powder-coated metal. I can see the appeal, but I think I still prefer dye for most of the sorts of designs I make.
Laser-cut leather, stitched together by hand with thick nylon thread. Nickel-plated hardware. It uses the same strap setup as my other codpieces.

Scale dragon tail in orange with green stripes. This one is the medium length, measures in at 30 inches from tip to top, and weighs 2 pounds 9 ounces.
I’ve been having a patch of time that’s felt a bit overwhelming with things to do and deal with in many different directions, but it was nice to have this commission on my queue to just zone out and not have to think about things while doing something productive.
Next up: 2 more weeks of being scatter-brained, then I decide between taking a wave of commissions or making a Halloween costume.

A batch of fig leaf codpieces from last month, done in black leather and hardware. I’d originally designed this as a bit of a joke, and I’d just about given up on them, then someone asked for this set for a group of their friends who were going to a Pride event. So these went to a group of satyrs in bondage harnesses.
The client asked for black hardware to match the harnesses they’d be wearing, so that was the tricky thing about this order. I had to source the hardware from a couple different places, but they ended up matching pretty well. And now I know a couple more suppliers that had some good stuff.
I don’t think I’ll have the black hardware up as a regular option, since keeping more hardware in stock eats into my space and materials investment budget. (Also the rivets were sufficiently differently sized from my regular ones that they were A Pain.) But I could get them again for the right project.
The regular version of these codpieces is available on my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/702512626/fig-leaf-codpiece

Made this jackal mask as a gift, decided to try out some gold leather paint. It's kinda tricky to get a smooth coat on, it tends to show brush strokes. Also tried a new finish I just got, which is more reflective than what I've been using. I think I actually like it.

And here’s this mask being worn!
(And of course here’s the Etsy listing for the regular jackal mask.)
