Are we still friends?

Are We Still Friends?

You were a relatively newer student. You normally kept to yourself but you always dreamt of being friends with the main trio, especially with the infamous Suguru Geto. Yet, he always seemed to hate you, even when you openly showed you felt the opposite.

pairings: suguru geto x f!reader

warnings and whatnots: enemies to lovers, mean!geto, reader gets hurt (mentally). modern-ish au. Not based on canon. cliffhanger (will probably become a series)

chapter 1: [currently reading] chapter 2: can we be friends? chapter 3: sorry, not sorry chapter 4: green looks good on you. chapter 5: runaway chapter 6: burn.

You walk inside the loud classroom, for a class that’s only filled with three students, it was unusually loud, mostly because of the inhabitants of the classroom.

You quietly take a seat next to Shoko, who smiles at you nicely. You smile back. She continues on talking to Gojo and Geto. You keep to yourself. Although they claimed to be your friends, you couldn’t help but feel isolated from them. When they hung out, they always ‘forgot’ to invite you. When they talk, they never include you in their conversations. Thus, you’ve stopped trying and became an idle listener.

You start to zone out, your eyes wandering around until they finally land on a familiar and beautiful specimen of a man.

Suguru Geto.

You managed to steal a few glances before his cold gaze finally meets yours. He gives you a glare, narrowing his eyes at you. You quickly look away, flushed and embarrassed.

Shoko and Satoru laugh as they notice this. As per usual, they make light of it and start accusing you of liking Suguru and how you would be good for each other.

“Don’t be ridiculous! She’s not my type!” He says, his voice laced with annoyance and disgust.

You purse your lips, hearing those words drawl out of his mouth.

Satoru and Shoko weren’t entirely wrong. You did, stupidly have a crush on him. It was obvious from your first day that you were head over heels for the long-haired man. You saw him and you immediately felt a rush of emotions hit you. You could still remember it to this day. You could remember how he quickly and painfully rejected you.

~

You shook slightly as you entered the classroom, giving an awkward smile to the three people in the class. You meet the gaze of one of the boys there. He looked at you curiously, giving you a light smile, though his eyes didn’t show any emotion. You felt a rush of heat to your face as emotions came barrelling down on you. You quickly introduced yourself before learning the names of everyone there. Naturally, you plopped yourself down next to the boy who made you get butterflies in your stomach.

For the next few days, you walked with him as you became closer with the other members of your class. They all talked and laughed with you, accepting you into their friend group. Yet, he never talked. You tried to get him to talk. You did everything! Giving him chocolates, making dumb jokes, asking him for help, walking back with him, accompanying him, helping him but it never worked!

It was lunchtime.

You scanned the area for him, and you saw him sitting alone near the pond. You psych yourself up before walking towards him.

“Boo!” You say, teasingly as you sat down next to him. He didn’t react, keeping quiet as he looked at you oddly. You smiled as he didn’t react to you. You open your bento and look into his.

“So… Suguru, y’know the exams coming up so I was wondering if you’d like to help me study! Maybe tonight or tomorrow night, I’m not picky!” You say, happily taking a bite of your food. He looks at you, his eyes empty.

“Sorry, I’m busy.” He says coldly.

“Oh, when are you free then?” You ask, smiling at him. His eyes look darker today. Was he on edge?

“I’d rather study with you then Shoko or Gojo!” You say, laughing a little.

He doesn’t respond to your quip. You look at him oddly. Even if he didn’t respond, he’d normally chuckle a bit. Yet, here he was, staring blankly into the distance being as silent as a rock! You’d think you’d have a better time talking to a brick wall than him!

“Hey, you okay?” You ask, concern lacing your words

You weren’t sure what was happening but something felt off. You were worried about him. For the last few days, your crush on him had expanded and taken over you. It wasn’t that obvious but obvious enough with all the attention and care you gave him.

“Yeah. M’fine.” He says coldly.

You eyebrows furrow in confusion and concern. You put down your food, looking at him. You keep quiet.

“You sure?”

He doesn’t respond, causing you to purse your lips and think. A small smile spreads on you face.

“I know what will cheer you up!” You declare loudly. You pull something out of you pocket. “Here! These are some of your favourite chocolates right?!” You ask, showing them to him. He doesn’t respond.

“Come on, I know they’re probably a bit warm but like-”

“Would you shut up?” He randomly says, finally looking at you. His face annoyed. “You’re so goddamn annoying. Can’t you see I don’t like you back? So stop trying to be all nice with me just so you can get with me alright? You’re so insufferable.”

You swore your heart broke the day he said that. You looked away, embarrassment filling you and tears threatening to stream down. The sound of Shoko and Gojo arriving reached your ears, and you hear Geto greeting them with the softness that you never got.

How idiotic.

Without a word, you stood up and left. They were confused, but they let you be. Why would they need you? After that day, your friendship was never the same with them anymore. They were nice with you, but it was hard to talk to them. You wished all of it never happened and that you were still friends with them. Yet, you can’t change the past.

Worst part was, you still liked him. Even through everything he said, you still held on to your feelings for him. You tried to let go but it never worked. The best course of action is just to pretend you don’t.

~

Shoko 🚬: Hey, we’re going out to the cafe around the corner to study. You want in?

Your eyes squint at the text, trying to confirm it’s authenticity. You were surprised. It had been a while since they invited you to anything. You weren’t even sure if you wanted to go or not. You knew he would be there and it would be awkward but you longed to befriend them all again. You can’t just let this one experience ruin it for you.

y/n : Sure! I’ll meet you all there.

You stood at the entrance of the cafe nervously, peering inside. You could see the three of them laughing and smiling together. Studying? It didn’t really look like it. Your grip on your book bag tighten. Were you really doing this?

You suck in a breath, pushing the door open and hearing the bell ring. You scan the surrounding. Shoko immediately calls out to you, waving you over. You smile at her. She had always been the nicest to you.

“hi.” You say nervously, putting your bag down next to Shoko, paying no mind to Suguru who was staring at you.

You ordered a coffee before taking out your books.

“Woah, are you actually studying?” Asks Satoru. You look at him confused. “Crazy, I’m just using this as an excuse to hang out!” He says, laughing loudly. You smile at him and start giggling.

You missed this.

Time went by fast, and before you know it, it was dark outside. You all walked together in a group back to the dorms, laughing and smiling amongst yourselves. It had been ages since you’ve done it. He still hadn’t talked to you much. He never talked to you directly, nor did you to him. It was alright, you didn’t mind. You needed to get over him some way.

As you enter your dorm, and wave goodbye to the others, you fail to notice how his gaze clung onto you.

Geto stares at the closed door in front of him, a million thoughts racing through his head. He had a disdain for you, practically hated you, so why did he ask Shoko if she wanted to invite you to the hang out? Why did he ask? Why did he genuinely enjoy that hang out?

He never liked you. Not in a romantic sense, but he had to admit you were pretty nice as a friend. He missed the time when you were his friend, and one of his biggest regret is that he ruined it on a whim due to a bad day.

He wanted to rekindle the friendship.

Sure, he still hated, no, detested the way you would cling onto him and coddle him, but he couldn’t help but admit he liked seeing you squabble with Shoko. Plus, Shoko needed another girl in the group.

He didn’t really know what to do. On one hand, he couldn’t help but feel annoyed when he sees you near him but at the same time, he didn’t want to be cruel to his friends who wanted to include her in stuff. He could see it in Shoko’s face and hear it in her words that she missed you.

He sighs, unsure of what to do.

He left with a defeated look on his face as he looked down at his phone, typing something out.

Suguru💔: You free tomorrow?

Can we be friends?

Can We Be Friends?

You were a relatively newer student. You normally kept to yourself but you always dreamt of being friends with the main trio, especially with the infamous Suguru Geto. Yet, he always seemed to hate you, even when you openly showed you felt the opposite.

Pairings: suguru geto x f!reader

Warnings and whatnots: fake friendship, Geto still being mean. Geto low-key being jealous but denying it because it’s geto. Use of the term monkey (by geto ofc) Not proofread! Maybe will make a part 3? Geto being oblivious to his feelings.

Chapter 1: Are we still friends? <;- read first! Chapter 2: [currently reading] Chapter 3: sorry, not sorry Chapter 4: green looks good on you. Chapter 5: Runaway Chapter 6: Burn.

Your eyes widen at the text you had received last night. After the whole ordeal yesterday, you had quickly collapsed on your bed and fell asleep, not bothering to change your clothes or check your phone.

What a big mistake.

Your fingers hover over the screen as you read the text message over and over again. It was real. You weren’t dreaming.

You needed to respond.

y/n : hii, sorry I didn’t see your message last night.

y/n : yeah I’m free today at like 2-3 pm. why?

You breath out a sigh, as you put your phone down, thoughts racing through your head faster than an F1 car.

The sound of your notification rings through the room, causing you to quickly seize your phone.

Suguru 💔 : meet me at the cafe at 2:30.

Suguru 💔 : I need to talk to you about something.

You weren’t sure what to do. You quickly answer, agreeing. You flop onto your bed, eyes staring onto the ceiling on top of you. Confusion filling you.

What the hell did he want from you?

Insufferable. Annoying. Wasn’t that what he called you? He didn’t want to be near you anymore right? Then, why was he randomly messaging you to meet him.

It all confused you. You punch your bed, frustrated. You didn’t know what to do. Did you really want to meet him again, alone? He said meet him, not him and his friends, meaning he would be alone.

You grimace and grumble, why does he have to be so damn confusing! You sit up, rereading the message again.

2:30 in the afternoon.

You sigh, standing up, stretching your body.

Annoyance replaces the frustration as you realise what you had just agreed to.

What in the world did you get yourself into?

~

You enter the cafe, hands fidgeting on your bag. You scout out the long black-haired man.

You eventually spot him near the corner, reading a book. Blood rushes to your face as you observe him. You curse your body for having a reaction to seeing him like that. Yet, it made sense.

He looked well-groomed today. His hair tied back into a man bun neatly, one strand freed and covering part of his face. He was entranced by the book, not bothering to look up at you, who was staring at him from the door.

“It’s rude to stare.” He suddenly voices out, pulling you out of your catatonic state. You look away, embarrassed for getting caught staring.

Right. He was still an asshole.

He looks up, closing his book and putting it on the coffee table in front of him. He gestures for you to sit in front of him, which you hesitantly agree to. Like normal, his eyes carried no emotion. It was impossible to read him and understand what was going in that head of his.

“What’d you call me here for?” You say, taking a seat in front of him. Your tone civil as you try your hardest to hide your still prominent feelings for him.

He gives you a smirk. Ugh! Was he trying to lead you on?

“I think we both know that we aren’t exactly on the best of terms.” He says, leaning in front. “So, I want to fix that and befriend you again.”

Huh.

He wanted to befriend you… again. Did you hear that right?

You stare dumbfounded at him. Was he being serious.?You purse your lips, looking at him uncertainly.

“Why do you randomly want to be friends with me again?” You say quietly, unsure of what he was getting at. Surely, there was something that he needed.

“Look, I uh… I think it would be better for us to be friends again. You’re a good girl, and I think that you’re a nice friend. Thus, I don’t want to have to lose you because I made a mistake with my words months ago.” He says. “Besides, Shoko needs another female friend.”

You continue to stare at him. What he said made sense, and this was definitely an optimal chance to get back into the friend group, but something felt off.

“But… You don’t like me in general.” You state plainly, tilting your head at the man in front of you.

His eyes widen as he hears you say that, his mouth opens slightly, before he quickly closes it. To be completely honest, he never thought you would be so blunt on pointing out his faults and disdains. It was true he didn’t really fancy your presence but he thought he kept it secretive enough. Not to mention, he thought you would accept his friendship in a heartbeat with no issue. Isn’t that what you wanted? To be close to him?

You stare at him expectantly. You know you had hit the nail as he stayed silent after your statement. Yet, to know that he actually didn’t like you, it hurt.

“I can’t say that you’re entirely wrong but…” He leads, the first few words already stinging your heart. You didn’t know why you thought wanted he would reject your words and say that you were wrong. You should’ve known better than that.. “I think it’s better for the whole class that we at least pretend to be friends. Shoko and Satoru desperately miss you for some reason.”

You stay silent, the words ringing through your head before you finally process it after a few seconds. You bite the inside of your cheek.

“So… can we be friends?” He asks, looking you in the face, the look that always caused you to blush.

“Fine by me.” You say, standing up, trying to quickly leave the cafe before it became obvious on the fact that you still somehow had a crush on that curse eater.

He, thankfully, let you leave.

~

You stood outside of class, staring at the door. It was the first day of school after agreeing to be friends although fake with Suguru Geto.

You know you had to enter soon, but the prospect of seeing him again and having to talk to him was nerve-wrecking.

“Why are you staring at the door?”

You jump at the sudden voice, turning back to see the man you were trying to avoid behind you. He looked at you weirdly, tilting his head.

“I- I was just thinking…” You say, looking in front indignantly.

He raises an eyebrow at you before opening the door, ushering you inside.

Satoru and Shoko were already in the classroom. They smile at the both of you and wave you over to sit with them. You, gratefully, take a seat beside Shoko. As per usual, you stay quiet, listening to them talk and squabble. You started zoning out as their discussion continued on.

“Well, what do you think y/n?” The mention of your name snaps you back to reality. You look at Shoko who had called you.

“I’m sorry- I was blurred out, what did you say?”

“Since the school break is happening soon, we wanted to go on a roadtrip around Japan. Though, it’s either that or we do something else. So… what do you want to do?” Shoko explains.

“Come on y/n, say yes to the roadtrip! I’ll even pay for all your expenses!” Satoru adds on, giving you a pleading look. You smile at him.

“Sure… I wouldn’t mind.”

Satoru gives you the widest grin before hugging you. You laugh at him, accepting the hug. You glance at Shoko who rolls her eyes, a small smile tugging at her lips.

You live in that moment for a while. Not realising how Suguru was staring at your enveloped figure. Something inside him burned as he watched Satoru hold you in a tight hug. He shakes away the thought. It must be because Satoru is holding you. Satoru is his best friend, why would he want his best friend holding a filthy monkey?

The road trip was planned and scheduled. For the first time in a long time, you felt a sense of belonging. The plan was to sleepover at Suguru’s old house and leave early the next day. That was the reason you stood in front of Suguru’s house, your trunk in hand. You tapped nervously on the hard leather cover of the trunk as you waited for someone to open the door. Satoru and Shoko were already there as they were used to going to his house. You, were not.

The door opens, Suguru standing in front of you. Your breath hitches as you see him.

He looked beautiful. His hair down and in a comfortable black sweatshirt. His eyes looked tired but it was obvious he had been smiling as his laugh lines looked more obvious than usual.

“Oh. You’re here.” He says.

You give him a small smile. He stands to the side, letting you in. Before you could even take a look around, he grabs your shoulder, pulling you near. Your eyes widen as you feel his hand grabbing you back.

“Listen. I know we’re ‘friends’ and all, but that doesn’t change the fact that I don’t exactly like you. So, don’t get any wrong ideas okay? We’re just friends.” He says sternly, looking down at your face. His eyes softening for a second as he took a proper look at your face. He had never seen it that close before. He had to admit you were pretty but no. He couldn’t. He wouldn’t. Not you, not after everything he had said.

You pull away from him, failing to notice how his eyes saddened as you remove yourself from him. Why did he feel that way? He didn’t like you.

“I get it man. We’re friends. I’m fine with that.” You say, glaring at him.

“Good.” He says, ignoring you as he brings you up the stairs to his room where Shoko and Satoru played UNO on the floor.

“y/n! You’re lateeee” Satoru drawls out, patting the spot next to him for you to sit down. You agree, sitting beside him as you watch him and Shoko play a game of UNO. Satoru, getting increasingly frustrated with losing, not knowing Shoko had been secretly passing you cards to hide.

“This game is rigged!” Satoru shouts out after his 11th time losing. “Let’s do something else!”

You laugh, nodding at him. Suguru’s hand twitching as he hears your laugh. He keeps quiet.

You all decided to watch a movie before falling asleep soon on the floor. It had been ages since you had this much fun. As you stare into the ceiling, the world around starts getting darker before eventually you fall into a deep slumber.

~

You awoke to the sound of something moving, you open your eyes, catching a shadow of man walking towards the door before closing it. You sit up, feeling curious on who had left the room. Your throat felt dry.

You needed a drink.

That was your reasoning. Surely there was no other reason for you to follow a shadow that was most definitely Suguru downstairs to the kitchen. You were just thirsty.

You quietly head down the stairs, catching a glimpse of Suguru at the counter of his kitchen, drink in hand. He looked so… broken.

Maybe you didn’t need a drink.

“I know you’re there.” He says.

Nevermind, you did need a drink.

“My throat… I wanted a drink…” You say softly, showing yourself. He looks at you, his eyes showing the distinct look of sadness.

He nods, pushing the jug of water near you and grabbing a cup for you. You poured the water in and took a sip. The air of awkwardness surrounding the both of you as you both stood drinking water.

“Are… Are you alright?” You ask, breaking the silence. He keeps quiet, taking a sip.

“I’m fine.” He says solemnly after a while. You knew better to fight him about it.

After a while, you left to go back to sleep, leaving Suguru all alone downstairs.

It enraged him. Why did you leave him? Why did you stop showing him affection? You were supposed to like him, not ignore him! You… You and your stupid laugh. The laugh that only happened near him but never because of him. The sincere smile that you gave others but not him.

It’s not fair.

It’s not fair, why did they get it but not him?

He hated it.

He hated you.

He didn’t like you. No, you were supposed to like him. That’s how it was supposed to work.

You had to like him. He wanted your attention, your affection, your love. He wanted your all.

So, why weren’t you giving it to him?

Why were you making him give his to you?

My Sun

My Sun

Satoru and you had been high school sweethearts, yet after his dispute with Suguru, you had joined the opposing side, leaving Satoru alone to himself and hoping you’d come back and love him again.

pairings: gojo satoru x reader

warnings and whatnots: very short. Angst with a happy ending. Gojo being desperate for you. Not proofread!

Satoru and you stood far apart, your bodies separated yet your hearts intertwined.

Your soul yearned for his. It stung to stand opposing him. It hurt to watch as his eyes fight back tears. It was torture to stand with his best friend as he begged for you to come back for him.

You wanted to run back to him, wipe his tears away and comfort him. Yet, you couldn’t.

You weren’t supposed to be together.

With a heavy heart, and a burden on your shoulder, you turn away from him, walking off to never see him again.

It’s better like this.

This pain will be temporary.

~

You stared at the ceiling, reliving the memories all over again.

It had been years since the dispute. You wondered if he still thought about you; if he still loves you. You did.

He enveloped your entire being, making his way into your heart and mind, ensuring that you know that he will always be there.

You wished he was still here.

Regret washes over you as you stood up and got ready for another day. You had fought with Suguru a while back and subsequently left his organisation that bordered a cult. Now, you were living your own life, as a private curse exorcist.

You check your phone, there was a commission at a school. You sigh, putting your gear on and leaving your apartment.

Days passed quickly nowadays. Without him, you didn’t find the joy in living anymore. He was your Sun. You sometimes wonder if you were just a Sunflower. You had to face him, to see him, or else your life would be meaningless. It would have no point. You would be left empty.

Within a few minutes, you had arrived at the school, quickly exorcising the curse before leaving to get lunch. You look at your phone, tuning out the world as you ask for your payment.

As you walk, a man watches you. He hadn’t seen you for so long and he almost couldn’t believe it to be you. You looked so different yet he knew it was you.

His eyes, his heart, his soul told him it was you.

Without a second thought, he dropped everything and trailed after you, hoping to see what you were up to. He knew it was wrong. He shouldn’t be following you. It was dangerous, yet his legs betrayed his mind as he continued to follow your movements.

He stalked behind you as you entered the busy street, your bodies furthering from each other.

No.

He couldn’t lose you again.

He calls out to you, knowing his voice would be swallowed up by the hustle and bustle of the crowd forming around you both. Somehow, you had heard it, turning back to him, eyes catching his.

The sight of your eyes made his knees weak. If it weren’t for the crowd that was surrounding the pair of you, he would’ve already fallen on to his knees.

You stop walking, seeing him again. He pushes the crowd away, approaching you with caution but desperation. His moves frantic.

He stands in front of you, towering over your figure. Yet, he felt weak in your presence. Your eyes stare at him, taking in all his features. Was this a trick?

“y/n.” He breathes out. His eyes scanned your body, trying to see if it was really you.

“Satoru…”

Without another word, he wraps his arms around you, his chin naturally finding its place in the crook of your neck, his scent hitting you and causing all the memories to flood back to you.

“Love, please… come back to me.”

You stayed quiet, living in the moment. All your past feelings rushed through your head and heart.

You loved him. You missed him. You needed him.

He sniffles loudly, causing you to pull him in tighter. His body shakes, tears staining your clothes. You fight back your own tears.

“Please, tell me what I need to do, tell me what I need to do for you to stay.” He pulls alway from you, his eyes begging as he holds your hands. “Maybe I was too young to see how much I loved you then, but I am not anymore.”

“Oh Satoru,” You say quietly, pulling him back in. “You don’t need to do anything, love.”

“Will you stay with me? Come home with me?”

You smile softly at him. You watch his pleading eyes as he begs you.

“I will follow you wherever you go, sun.”

My love, mine all mine.

My Love, Mine All Mine.

Summary: Marc and you had been childhood sweethearts, then he suddenly got colder and colder until he randomly left one night. You thought you’d never see him again, until one lonesome night where you meet the love of your life again.

Pairings: Marc Spector x reader. Warnings and whatnots: Unhappy ending, angst.

You stare longingly at the photo in your hand. Photographed nicely in the worn out and crumpled polaroid were you and your former lover, Marc Spector. You smile sombrely.

“Come on just one photo Marc!” You shouted into the wind that blew on your clothes, you were all smiles.

Marc looked at you, his usual grumpy expression painted his face. Yet, you saw something soften in his features. He raises a finger.

“Fine!” He shouted back. “Only one!”

He had quickly grabbed onto your body, bringing you closer as he took the polaroid camera in your hand. You lean closer to him, grinning as you had managed to convince him. He rolls his eye before smiling at the photo.

It was the last day you had seen each other, a calm before the storm. You still talked to each other on the phone afterwards but it was less talking and more arguing. You were frustrated and he didn’t seem to care, until one day he just stopped responding.

A week later, you stopped calling.

~

You never really got over him, evidently as you sit in the park outside a bar, on New Years, looking at the photo of him. You sigh and shiver at the cold night. You look at the bar behind you. Your friend had invited you out and they were too busy getting drunk to notice you leave. You sigh as you look at your watch, realising it was way too late to be out and that you should probably bring your blasted friend home.

You step into the bar, scouting out your friend. You furrow your eyebrows as you search for her, finally spotting them taking shots with a random guy. They see you and smile widely, waving and shouting at you to wait a bit. You shake your head, laughing at their behaviour.

You take a seat at the bar and look around the bar, until your eyes landed on a man seated at the counter. Your eyes widen as you see him. Was it actually..?

He sensed you looking at him and quickly raised his head, you look away, not wanting to make eye contact.

Your heart raced when you saw him. You had to get out of there. Your heart was conflicted, not knowing if you wanted to leave or speak to him. To see him and spill your heart out. You quickly stood up from your chair, pushing your way to your friend who was laughing widely. You grab their arm, telling them you had to leave but they don’t listen, waving your arm off.

Marc watched you from the bar, watching as you try your best to convince your friend to leave with you. Did he cause that? Were you that hurt by him that you cannot even stand to be in the same vicinity as him? He felt a pang of guilt hit his heart as he thought about how he had left you. He had heard about you sobbing and crying day and night from people but he could never come back and see you.

He purses his lips, you had shown him what his heart was worth. He would have died for you. He would have killed for you. Yet, he had left you. What kind of man was he? Leaving you just like that.

He observes you as you finally give up on your friend and head outside. His heart and head argued, not knowing if he should follow you or not. He desperately wanted to talk to you.

“Talk to her.” The bartender says, giving him a shot of vodka. “For the nerves.” He explains.

Marc looks at the bartender then at the shot. He inhales before grabbing the shot and downing it. He psychs himself up for the worst as he exits the bar.

You hear the door open and you turn your head, not expecting to have seen him. He looks at you, giving a small awkward smile. He hadn’t aged a day physically, and you hadn’t aged a day mentally. Your heart fluttered as he moves to stand next to you.

“Cigarette?” He says, offering you a pack. Your eyes fill with sadness. Maybe this really wasn’t Marc…

“I… No thanks…” You say politely.

The only sound that was heard was the wind rustling the leaves and the crickets chirping in the bushes. For you, you could here your heart throbbing and breaking everything he breathed.

“I…” You started to say before he quickly cut you off.

“I never meant to leave you like that…” He says. “It was just… I had a lot of things that I had to do and I just… couldn’t risk it. I couldn’t risk you.”

“Marc… You promised me. We’d go through everything together, why would this be any different?”

“I couldn’t get you hurt,”

“I couldn’t get you hurt, not you..” He says, sighing. “you are too important.”

“I… I spent so much time wondering what I did wrong and you suddenly waltz right back into my life, blabbing about how you didn’t want me to get hurt?” You say, a tinge of anger lacing your voice.

“No- I won’t accept that. If you didn’t want me to get hurt, you wouldn’t have left me. You wouldn’t be here in front of me, after leaving me all those years ago!”

“I… I really loved you Marc, and I still do… But, you can’t make those decisions for me. I’m grateful you want to protect me but, I need to learn to protect myself. With you.”

Marc stares at you wide eye as you put your hand up to his cheek. The corner of his eyes well up with tears and you felt your heart shatter. You pull away from his cheek.

“I’m sorry. I just- I couldn’t…” He starts but you just smile at him.

“My rides here.” You say, looking back at the bar where your friend still was. You hoped they would get home safe. You look at Marc. You hope he would get home safe.

“Goodbye Marc.” You say, and he watched you go.

He watched as you disappear into the distance like the moon at the end of the night, and the sun at the end of the day. You were his moon, and you always would be.
