Interviews with the cast where the interviewer tries really hard to act like Charles is a Proper Heterosexual Dude™️ Who Rejected Poor Little Gayboy Edwin™️ seem to do real psychic damage to Jayden Revri specifically. Every time they call Charles straight Jayden looks like someone just slapped his mother in front of him but he has to be polite about it he's like 😐

Charles DEFINITELY makes mixtapes for Edwin. I’ve had that headcannon for a while

I'm willing to bet just about anything Charles has made Edwin mixtapes. In fact I think he's made several and doodled fun nonsense onto the labels. Being as involved in the punk and ska scene as he clearly was he most definitely wanted to get Edwin into his music

As fun as it would be if he just demolished Edwin's antique mind with modern punk music I personally think he did everything in his power to ease him in gently with the quieter and more melodious modern (read: 80s) music. Personally I've decided there's a lot of cocteau twins on the hypothetical mixtapes because I've gotta get my little goth hands all over everything.

Anyway after Charles has his realization (and tells Crystal about it) he offhandedly mentions the mixtapes and she's like "Wasn't that like. Implicitly romantic during your time? You scribbled shitty hearts all over mixtapes you've been making for this guy for thirty fucking years and you didn't notice you're in love with him?"
