I reblogged a post a few days ago about costuming in Dead Boy Detectives, but I can’t find it now. The OP made comments about how Crystal’s clothing choices are so different after she lost her memories rather than before she lost her memories. Crystal Surname-Von Hoverkraft wore dramatic makeup, designer clothes, very body-con looks, acrylic nails, sometimes straightened her naturally curly hair. Presumably to look whiter.
Crystal Palace wears minimal makeup and comfy clothes which look like they’ve been thrifted. And she doesn’t straighten her hair.
Crystal’s post memory loss clothes probably WERE thrifted. She had no ID and probably no money on her when Edwin and Charles exorcized her. Whatever clothes she had besides what she was wearing at the exorcism are probably provided by Charles and Edwin. Who likely had limited amounts of cash. So she would’ve gone to thrift stores to find clothes to wear.

THEM!! Absolutely loved the “girls night” title card in episode 5 when it immediately cuts to Crystal, Niko, and Jenny having just survived an insane situation. The juxtaposition was just 🤌

You know how Jenny is kinda the mom of the agency? Does that make Edwin her dead gay son?
putting a cute lesbian date (that turned out to be a psychotic murder... strange but yes, that's so sapphic) with a Cigaretts After Sex song in the background IN THE SAME EPISODE WITH THESE LINES "I think it's best if we stop seeing one another. Or, I don't know, I've been rather confused. I realised... human connections were never easy for me when I was alive. And now that I'm dead, they seem to bring somehow even more baggage" and the "swings scene" really hit me (a lesbian with the avoidant attachment style) hard.

I didn't believe it at first but after watching the show, Dead Boy Detectives was so obviously crafted to be catnip for the Tumblr girlies(gn), cause like. Homoerotic ghost detectives. Sassy psychics. Weird girls. Witches. A literal cat king. Sad twink that's actually a crow. Hot goth lesbian butchers. Slowburn ft. immortal beings. Gay confessions in hell. This show was crafted in a lab for us, and I LOVE IT. Go watch it if you haven't already.
