So. I have a statement to make
Y'all've probably heard about pridefall by now, but if you haven't, I'll quickly summarize it. It's basically a group of homophobes getting together. On June 1st, they're 'planning' to attack and harrass us and post a ton of anti-LGBTQ+ content, including pedophilia.
Here is my opinion on that :
It sounds like bullshit. Let's just be honest, is this the first time we've been harassed? Fuck no. It's happened over and over again, and every time, we've come out stronger. We did not get this far in life by sitting around idly, hoping for change. We made that change happen. It took time, effort, and (tragically) cost many lives, but it happened and we're much stronger, much more fearless now.
In addition, homophobes seem to love empty threats. They want us to be afraid of them. Let's not give them what they want. We need to fucking stand, take each other's hands and never be afraid again. We as a community have much more unity than they can ever dream of. We're all united and we stand together; we cannot let them take that away from us.
Hate is nothing new for us. Every single fucking time, we've risen up and we've grown stronger. This is no different.
We need to flaunt every aspect of ourselves. We can't give them what we want when it comes to homophobia. We shouldn't be hiding this aspect of ourselves to satisfy someone else, who's constantly disrespecting us at every turn. Because, let's face it, they will never be satisfied with what we do.
Your sexuality, your gender identity, your race, your religion, everything that society oppresses, show it off. Do not hide anything. Make it known that you're not going to give in anytime soon. Because you can't; we've come too far to go back to what these incredible communities once were.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

So proud of my mother for doing her own research after I sent her that meme. A sign she hung in her car window.
