Therapy is great because it doesn't necessarily cure your depression or anything but it does give you the tools to be able to step outside your head, recognize what's a symptom of mental illness, realize when something is off or unhealthy, etc.

Like just now I felt like pure shit. I walked into the kitchen because I skipped breakfast and thought "I wanna go lie on the bed everything sucks" and I was able to say "Nope. I know being hungry makes everything worse, so we're eating yogurt right now." and sure enough, bam. Just a few bites in and mood increase by 30%.

loooooove how in Tha Real World lotsa mistakes dont have consequences. whoops, booked the wrong item! time to just... remove it from the list and book the right one! whoops, sent an email when i should've called! got a mail response that everything's fine but i should please call next time! whoops, lost my passport! gotta go get a new one at the civil office!

like it does not matterrrrrrr so many fuck ups can just be fixed with only the cost of time. fuckin school test mentality is a scrouge upon the earth and upon mental health. most mistakes can always be righted, and after that you just move on with your life. who give a shit

In terms of like, Please For The Love Of God Get Hobbies That Arenā€™t Scrolling Through An App For Six Hours A Day, I understand and experience completely the argument of like. with the stressors of modern work, you donā€™t have the energy at the end of the day to do anything but mindlessly watch Netflix and scroll through your phone. but like I would like to gently encourage you to simply force yourself for a time to do something instead of pick up your phone, bc the phone is literally designed to light up your brain with no effort from you whatsoever and it does in fact rot your brain. It makes literally anything but scrolling on your phone seem difficult and joyless. But if you stop scrolling on your phone all the time, and start like, reading or embroidering or gardening or going for walks, you will eventually find the joy in them once more

I understand and it is true that it is hard to have a life outside work and scrolling but there is not a near future where that wonā€™t be the case and you should still live a life. And you wonā€™t create a future where that isnā€™t the case if you donā€™t have the confidence and experience and drive to fight for it

drinking a can of soda is better than not drinking anything at all. ā€œjunkā€ food is better than no food at all. just rinsing your mouth out with mouthwash is better than no oral hygiene at all. changing into a different set of pyjamas is better than not changing at all. getting up just to sit down on the chair across the room for a bit is better than not getting up at all. changing just your pillowcase is better than not changing your bedding at all. cracking a window open is better than getting no fresh air at all.

if you donā€™t have enough spoons for full tasks, smaller adaptations are better than nothing at all. itā€™s okay if you donā€™t have the energy to actively fight today. just staying afloat is enough. you are enough.
