Im Not Sure If You Were Aware So I Was Curious What Your Thoughts Were Regarding This Bit Of Info That

I’m not sure if you were aware so I was curious what your thoughts were regarding this bit of info that was revealed when the Bible was first leaked

————————————————————————————————-

Could have fooled me, as Nathalie showed no signs of wanting to betray Gabriel until Season 5.

THIS. THIS IS WHAT PISSES ME OFF THE MOST ABOUT THE SHOW

At this rate, this "show" is more like a play with dolls. Astruc just grabs whatever person suits the role (just barely) and cranks their personality to a hundred in order to get the current story going, and once the episode is done, everything resets until the next one.

Funny how everyone started responding to Chloe's insults instead of ignoring her like they did previous seasons

Like why was Adrien scolding Chloe when she said Marinette was in love with him, and why was Marinette sad?? I feel like Marinette and Adrien would smirk and Marinette would say something like "thanks for noticing Chloe!", what I loved from her relationship with Chloe is how sassy she was with her

Remember kids, being the bigger person is for losers. If someone insults you, insult them back! Acting out like this clearly won't get you in trouble.

My idea for a redemption arc would've been that in order to bring back Emilie, Gimmie would've demanded something of equal value to Emilie's life, and the only one who had equal value was Adrien. Y'know, grant a wish by sacrificing one of equal value. And Gabriel didn't know this, so it drove him insane (at least more insane than what the miraculouses did) that the only way to get Emilie back is to sacrifice Adrien.

Two things.

1. If you were to rewrite Gabriel's redemption arch, how would you do it? Just curious.

2. Thinking about it, a good way to neutralize Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth (before he ever stole all the miraculouses from Marinette) would be getting rid of his voice by using the power of the miraculous of the roaster, (to get the power to steal his voice), silencing him forever would make him unable to manipulate anyone, would make him unable to akumatize anyone, because he needs to convince them, and for that, he needs to speak to his victims, and for him to do that, he needs his voice.

He wouldn't be unable to command Nooro, he wouldn't be able to transform, being unable to speak, he wouldn't be able to use a miraculous altogether.

Because to use a miraculous, you need to give your Kwami orders, you need to speak, you need a voice. It would serve as a one punishment, and you basically make him harmless!

Maybe he could try get around this rule, or ask Nathalie to continue his work, but at this point, would she be even interested? It could even serve as an oportunity to force him into changing and getting over Emilie.

And it would be so funny, watch a character who clearly loves to listen to himself, forced into eternal silence.

Two Things.
Two Things.

I suppose I'd show Gabriel as actually being a decent parent to Adrien, obviously cut out "Cat Blanc" and "Ephemeral", and have his redemption end with him in prison like the end of the movie.

That would honestly be a very fitting punishment for Gabriel, though the show would probably use the whole "tHe RoOsTeR cAn'T gRaNt WiShEs" crap to veto that.

This is what I love about writing. You have the story in your head, but as it unfolds, you surprise yourself. The book takes on a life of its own, and suddenly, you're transported right into that very world you've been trying to map out.

Posting this for the people who think that Tolkien's world-building was something complete and entire and finished before he started to write.

You always learn and discover your story and your world as you write. Sometimes you are just the first reader.

It's one of the reasons I have trouble with damsel in distress tropes. It's so easy to lose their personalities and lives, all for the sake of being a damsel. Adrien's Cat Noir persona could've been his way of taking control of his own life and defying his father, but it all just boiled down to "if it weren't for Ladybug I'd just do nothing, because life is nothing if Ladybug doesn't save me".

Damsels in distress aren't inherently bad, and I've used it myself. But if being a damsel in distress is all they are, and their entire personality revolves around the person who saved them, that's where it gets problematic.

Where the hell did the willful Adrien who defied his father's orders and fought for his right to go to school from the origins episode disappear to?!

You know, I find it funny how MLB thinks just having those fairytale parallels is enough to warrant praise, without actually using them to explore the characters.

Using one of the examples you listed in the finale review, Ever After High took the concept of fairytales and used it to explore the characters in interesting ways. Raven outright rejected the fate people decided she should have, instead choosing to write her own story and use her magic for good. Briar HATED her story, as she knew that while she would sleep for a hundred years, her friends would all be dead when she woke up. Duchess was envious of the others, as her story was doomed to end in tragedy as the next Swan Princess…

I could go on for days. The writers of EAH used the basic concept of fairytales to create genuinely compelling characters and discuss topics like autonomy, existentialism, being your own person vs what everyone wants you to be etc. But MLB just- throws these metaphors in on a surface level and then claim that they’re reinventing the wheel. It’s so infuriating.

Again, fairy tale references and deconstructions can work if they're done right (Go! Princess Precure does a great job with this for example), but the problem with this show is that all it does with that idea is compare the story to a fairy tale without really having anything to say about the tropes commonly associated with the genre.

The idea of comparing Marinette to a knight isn't a bad one, as you could argue that superheroes are the modern day equivalent to King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, but the whole knight idea is just to make Marinette look like a knight, not have her follow the code of chivalry knights are known to follow. Making Adrien the "damsel" is the bigger problem here. When he was compared to the princess, it was just to portray him as helpless and in need of saving... with the fairy tale visual in "Gabriel Agreste" shows him wear a dress while Marinette wears a suit of armor.

You Know, I Find It Funny How MLB Thinks Just Having Those Fairytale Parallels Is Enough To Warrant Praise,

In other words, this show that's trying to be empowering to girls, is essentially associating feminine traits with being weak, while the character supposed to be the female role model girls look up to is only able to get the job by acting like a man. This is why this show needs more than one female writer on the crew.

Maybe I'm overthinking things because I'm not a girl, and therefore, don't see things the same way, but to me, it comes across like the writers only cared about how cool things looked rather than actually diving into what something like this symbolizes. You know, the thing Ever After High has gained a lot of praise for with its discussion of fairy tale tropes?
