People think of frats as these like luxury houses where all these rich guys live, but when you grow up in a college town and your elementary school is right next to a college and your daily drive to school as a kid involves driving by the most trashy frat that has the following:

Conservatives tried to recruit younger people with libertarianism but now all those 2000s libertarians are either social conservatives who vote GOP or vote libertarian but aren’t even for “liberty” aside from liberty from taxes, or they became moderate liberals or progressives or even leftists once they grew up and held onto their social progressivism but realized you couldn’t organize a society without any government and/or realized that they wanted higher wages.

I can’t believe that these young conservatives are real. They all seem unhinged.

10 years ago, the people who liked Russia were viewed as “supporting socialism” within the US, but now, supporting Russia is “opposing socialism”. Did we “end history”?

I just saw the dumbest thing on TikTok. Some dating podcast type who’s probably affiliated with the femininity coaches was saying she thinks it’s a red flag if a guy posts on Instagram stories. Imagine rebranding gender roles but trying to make them all pastel color crap.

A good number of economic problems in the United States, particularly ones like rising rents, inadequate wage growth, insufficient welfare state, etc., not necessarily “housing costs any money at all” (the strawman libertarians use), are just political problems at the end of the day. When you want to switch from vouchers to cash transfers, landlords don’t like it because now the tenants have more power themselves. When you want to increase spending, there are deficit hawks and people whose business model relies on cheap labor as a result of high unemployment. When you want to increase housing supply, there are incumbent homeowners and landlords with a lot of money in housing. You want to increase wages, there are employers who don’t like that it cuts into their margins.

Unpopular opinion: The CIA and state dept’s policies CAN and DO change between administrations.

While this doesn’t mean that they change drastically, some areas have changes.

From the Cuban thaw under Obama and reversal of it under Trump, to the Iran Deal, to Biden being pretty friendly to center left Latin American leaders compared to 70 years ago, things do change between administrations.

Like I literally saw people making up conspiracy theories that Biden installed Milei despite the fact that Biden has been friendly to Lula and Petro.

Like, good god, this ain’t the Cold War anymore and US foreign policy is not being run by the Dulles brothers. Not saying it is perfect but to think Biden/Blinken are like the Dulles bros is so dumb when there’s no evidence to suggest that Biden was trying to rig elections against center left leaders in Latin America.

Dean Phillips tweeted in favor of Medicare for All but won’t even sponsor the bill in the house. Of course he’s also bought by Harlan Crowe. He’s aiming for something bigger. He knows he won’t be president, he just wants to get his name out there for a spot on CNN.
