“Why are you even with me, (Y/n)?  You deserve so much more than what I can give you! You deserve to be with someone who truly makes you happy.” Bucky said as tears were falling from his eyes.

You looked at Bucky, heartbreaking. You hated seeing Bucky like this.

“After all, I did as the Winter Soldier…,” Bucky said as he walked out onto the balcony of the Avengers headquarters.

“You know that wasn't’ you, Bucky. That was all Hydra’s fault.” You said, trying to comfort Bucky.

“It may have been Hydra’s fault, but it was still my hands that

You walked over to Bucky, you make you take his flesh hand and place your other hand on his scruffy cheek.

“It’s because I am in love with you, Bucky. I want you. All of you. Your flaws, your mistakes, your imperfections. I want you and only you.

So, my theory is that fangirls/boys get attached to fictional characters and celebrities so much because it’s like a one sided friendship. You feel like you know the person and have developed a deep bond with them. You get all the happiness, but none of the first awkwardness or fighting of a two-sided relationship. It’s almost like an instant friend who you can get to know in just a few short days.

Why do we seek these “fake friendships?” Many fangirls/boys joke about their lack of friends. Maybe the reason we look for the easy relationships is because irl friends are too difficult. Maybe you don’t live close to anyone who shares your common interests, or maybe you have a hard time connecting with another human.

Fictional friendships, on the other hand, take little to no effort. You just have to read all the books, watch the whole series, follow all their social media, and you know as much about them as anyone! Except you don’t, really. Nothing can replace a true friendship, where each person relies on the other. That’s why many of us may feel like we are lacking or something is missing.
