Can't Help Falling in Love with You. (bucky x reader)

Could you do an imagine to the song Can't Help Falling in Love with You? Where the reader is sitting alone in her room at the Avengers tower with a photo in her hand, crying. Because her parents are dead and they sang that song to her all the time and Bucky walks in to find her curled up against the headboard, shaking with sobs.

Please?

AN: This originally was written a few years ago, but with everything going on with music school, life, and broken relationships. I was not able to finish this at the time. this takes place during Captain America civil war. It’s a little different than the movie. Sorry it took so long to write, BuckysGirl42. I hope you like it and I apologize for my terrible writing.

But I can't help falling in love with you…

 (Y/n) could not help but to look at her reflection in the mirror. The bathroom was dark and quiet, yet, she could see her reflection in the mirror while listening to the sound of her tears drip into the sink. She looked at herself once more in the mirror. She used to be happy and hopeful. But now, seeing her face betrayed a deep anguish, and her eyes had an empty expression. She watched the reflection of a broken girl, a girl who fought so hard to save her parents but was too late. (Y/n) saw the reflection of the girl she had become, a kind of person she never thought she would be.

  Shall I stay? Would it be a sin If I can't help falling in love with you?...

 (Y/n) walked out of her private bathroom in her bedroom at the Avengers compound. She sat down on her bed, tearing up as she looked at the photo of her parents that sat on the bedside table. It didn’t help that she was listening to the song Can’t Help Falling in Love with You by Elvis Presley, a song that her parents that had often sang to her when she was a little girl, which brought more tears to her eyes.

 Like a river flows Surely to the sea….

This song held a special place in her heart. It was the song her parents danced to at their wedding, it was the song that her parents would sing to (Y/n) anytime she was sad. (Y/n) covered her mouth with her hand and cried more furiously.  Today marks the one-year anniversary of her parents death. Today was a day she wanted to herself.

Darling, so it goes Some things are meant to be….

She was video chatting with her parents while they were in Lagos volunteering for an outreach program when Crossbones and his team had tortured them and had them killed. she was back in the Avengers compound in New York when it happened. All she could do was watch.  She always blamed herself for their death. She did not have powers like Thor or Scarlet Witch. Or has a super suit like Iron Man and Falcon and Black panther, she was not a super soldier like Captain America and Winter Soldier. She was not a bad ass archer like Hawkeye, she may have been good a combat, but she was nothing compared to Black Widow. She was average and average was not good enough.

Ever since then she has not been the same. Because the sudden realization of not seeing her parents ever again was suddenly real. She sometimes would have dreams about them. Vivid, sweet dreams about sitting in the kitchen of their family home and having breakfast again and talking to them again, listening to dad’s bad jokes. Which would make those mornings more painful because when she woke up, it was like they were being taken from her again. Tony who thought of (Y/n) as his daughter was worried as well as the other avengers. They tried their best to help her anyway they could. They sent the best therapists would try to help her, but nothing helped. 

Take my whole life, too…

(Y/n) pulled out a small box from under her bed. She opened it with shaking hands. Inside was pictures of her parents. She went through the photos, looking at the pictures, remembering. Each held a special memory of her parents. She would come across silly selfies that she took with them and laugh sadly at them. 

For I can't help falling in love with you….

One photo stood out the most. It was a photo of her parents singing to her when she was a little girl, her dad playing the guitar while her mom would singing the lyrics. (Y/n) held the photo of her parents and clutched it to her chest.    tears now stinging at the corners of (Y/n) (e/c) eyes.  “ If I just gotten there a little sooner….” (Y/n) was now sobbing banging her head against the head board of her bed.

Bucky had been making his way back to his bedroom when he overheard sobbing walks through the door, as he looks around he finds his (Y/n) banging her head up against the headboard.

Darling, so it goes…

Bucky hated seeing the love of his life this way. Hearing her cries gave him chills because it was rare that she cried and hearing her cries to him sounded heartbroken and devastated.

  Bucky quickly rushed her side and held her close to him. She fought him at first, but eventually gave in. sobbing uncontrollably. "Shhh..., Shhh... (Y/n)" Bucky says as he is trying to soothe her. "I've could have saved them, Bucky. I should have done more. I should have gone with them, Bucky. It's my fault that there dead." She said, continued sobbing into his chest. Bucky automatically understanding what she meant.

 "This is not your fault (Y/n)” Bucky began. Recalling all the time she would tell him that after all that he did as winter soldier.

 “You did all that you could have done (y/n). Crossbones and his team were wanted revenge and did not care who they harmed and killed to achieve that. There was nothing you could have done” Bucky said to her, hugging her even more than possible.  Her sobbing slowly faded away.

 “Look at me please” He said. Her (e/c) eyes that are still filled with tears came into his focus. “This … is … not.. your fault.” He said as he pressed a kiss to her forehead. The touch of his lips burned or her skin. and, slowly gently. Theirs bodies still hugged together. For I can't help falling in love with you For I can't help falling in love with you

 “ thank you Bucky for being here, I don’t know what I’ll do if I didn’t have you ” She said, taking a shaking breath. He reached up with his fingertips uncertainly, letting them brush against her cheeks of her face. She was staring at him, with her (H/c) hair falling into her eyes.

“please stay with me tonight.” She said with pleading eyes.

Bucky shook his head. “Of course, honey”. He said as she and him laid back in bed. Bucky’s hands wrapped around her as they both drifted off to sleep.
