PONYSONA TIME!!!

This is Venus Von Peaches, a Unicorn home to the Crystal Empire.

Orphaned during the war against King Sombra (the one that originally made the Crystal Empire disapear), Venus was raised in an orphanage with other fillies in her situation. Some time after the war, Princess Cadence came to visit the orphanage in the aftermath of the battles. The other fillies were overjoyed to see the princess, but Venus was rendered hopeless after her parents death. Cadence took to understand her, as she also has no living family after outliving them (due to extended lifespan as an Alicorn). She sees Venus in herself (both based on history and appearance), and adopts her in secret, training her in magic, and teaching her to be the happy pony she was before the war.

How Venus Earned Her Cutie Mark: Some months after being welcomed as Cadence's adopted daughter, she is yet to be presented to the public as such. As much as Cadence loves and adores her, she knows the public will soon find out one way or another. So, as a way to make it public that Venus is now a 'princess' by relation, Cadence organises a ceremony in honour of one year after defeating Sombra - The Crystal Heart Ceremony. At this event, Cadence announces she will have her 'apprentice' aka Venus say a few words before placing the Crystal Heart in its place. Venus, as a scared child, runs away in fear. Cadence finds her and comforts her, reminding her that "You'll always be loved by the Empire, and you'll always be loved by me." Once they return, Venus raises the Crystal Heart to its pedestal all on her own - The Crystal Empire ponies become Crystal Ponies, and in a flash of blinding light, Venus gains her cutie mark: a red crystal heart with three diamond shapes around it for each important moment leading to this one - one for being taken in despite feeling like a lost cause, being accepted by the Empire, and raising the Crystal Heart to its place.
