!!!!SAESANG TRIGGER WARNING!!!! !!!!DO NOT INTERACT WITH THE PERSON BEING SPOKEN OF IN THIS POST!!!!

Hey guys it’s Roan. So um, I recently cut off interactions with someone who very much needs her mental health checked up on…

This post is about someone named @//got7noona007 . Her name is Dani, and HERE IS A STORY, WHOOT!!

So, Dani followed me a while ago, and we quickly became close to siblings. Little did I know, I was in for a shit show.

See…

Dani had it in her head that she and Bambam, of GOT7, were engaged and in love.

She constantly sent me these weird, creepy cheesy messages about oh, “we’re soooo in looove” and “true love conquers all”…

And she had it so stuck up into her head that she was in love with poor Bambam that I was forced to play along with her. I was forced (please don’t cancel me) to try to make her think that I was involved with NCT to keep her off of my trail of suspicions against her; here’s just one screenshot from the whole shabang:

image

Recently it escalated to where she started “hitting on Haechan.”

Saying the most disgusting things “to him.”

Haechan…

Who is barely a legal adult.

Furthermore, Dani once asked me to help her find an extremely-expensive-ass wedding ring that she described as “rounded and pretty setting with 24k gold & diamonds with maybe 4 different stone options”.

image

And just a few days ago, Dani offered to blow me if I ate her out.

Thinking that she was talking to Lee Haechan.

The newly-turned legal.

Haechan.

Here’s a screenshot:

image

And another:

image

Just…

Here’s more of what she’s said, for context.

image

…………………………………………God help me.

<3

Oh and here’s her excuse for all this:

Soulmates?

god burn her amen

Chapter 14

Chapter 14

<- master list

Muster (n) - a formal gathering of troops, especially for inspection, display, or exercise.

Chapter summary: the newest member of ARMY arrives just in time for Muster

Warnings: hospitals and (probably bad) descriptions of labor and childbirth, so much damn softness

WC: 5.3k

Chapter 14

While the boys were busy making preparations perfect for Muster, you were busy making sure everything was ready for Mochi. Ari and Jihye came over one day with their brood to help you baby proof Jimin's apartment. Jimin had bought a whole wardrobe of little girl clothes, so sure that he was right, and you humored him by washing them all and folding them away in the dresser. You also repacked your hospital bag after realizing that the clothes you had packed a few weeks ago didn't fit anymore.

It was the bag your eyes kept flickering to on the first day of Muster as you and Jimin enjoyed a nice breakfast. He'd leave for the stadium soon enough for them to do a sound check and prepare, but he was taking it easy, his eyes full of joy and excitement about the day.

You were trying to take it easy, but it was hard when you were feeling random pains in your belly. You still had a week to go, so you didn't want to raise the alarm. They could just be the practice contractions you'd been told about. They were seemingly random; they were so far apart and didn't last very long. Still, you called the maternity hospital while Jimin showered and they told you to come in if they got within a few minutes of each other, so you tried to secretly keep track of each one. Luckily, Jimin was too distracted with the day's events to take much notice.

"You'll come soon, right?" Jimin asks hopefully when he kisses you at the door.

"Of course," you smile brightly up at him, but he can tell that it's forced.

"Is everything okay?" He brushes some of your hair back to look down into your eyes. "You seem...preoccupied."

You shrug. "Maybe a bit."

"About what, love?" He questions with his new favorite pet name.

"Lots of things, I guess," you mumble, looking away from him.

"Why don't you tell me about one, so I can make you feel better before I leave," he offers, pulling your eyes back up with a finger under your chin.

You're reluctant, but you sigh when you look into his soft and understanding eyes. "I guess, today is a day about ARMY, and I'm part of ARMY, since the start, but I'm afraid they hate me, and they hate you for being with me. And-"

"Hey," Jimin's voice cuts you off. His eyes are wide with worry as he holds you in his gaze. You're a little shocked you went with that. It had been bothering you, for some time now to be honest, but you were really just trying to deflect from your more immediate worries, because you didn't want to spoil or distract from this special day.

"I don't want you to worry about that, okay?" Jimin presses a kiss to your forehead. "I can't tell you there aren't people who are upset and that everyone is going to love you. I won't lie to you like that. But I can tell you that it's not something for you to be worried about. I'm not. I made the choice, Y/N. Before we were even really together. I knew exactly what I was doing, so you don't need to feel guilty for it. People who hate you without knowing you don't matter, alright?"

Jimin holds your face firmly in his hands until you smile at him and nod as much as you can. "You're right."

"Good." He's satisfied with himself for helping and it shows in his eyes before he pecks kisses all over your face. "Enjoy your nap and rest up. It's going to be a long night," he warns you happily. "I'll see you in a few hours."

"Yeah," you breathe back as he picks up his bag and turns the doorknob.

"I love you," he says with one final smile and a look back.

"I love you," you manage before the door closes.

Chapter 14

You don't manage to sleep in the hours that you remain at home. The contractions get a little closer together but still not enough to get you to the hospital, so you just try to prepare yourself for the idea that within the next day you could have your baby with you. You shower and wear the outfit you had picked out days ago for the concert. And when you're finally ready you text the regular driver, Junghoon, and let him know you're ready to be picked up.

"Going somewhere?" Junghoon asks with a bit of a smile when he sees your bag.

"It's just a precaution," you mutter.

"For?"

You like Junghoon. He knows you're a regular person like him and he's casual with you without overstepping. You suspect he knows your public relationship with Jimin is a lie, but he also knows how much you care for one another now. He tells you jokes sometimes and shows you pictures of his kid.

So you ask him, "Can you keep a secret?"

Junghoon smiles. "I've been driving for BTS for five years. I keep lots of secrets."

You roll your eyes at his cheekiness as you hand him the bag. "It's not that big of a deal, I just need you to keep it for a few hours. I may need you to drive me to the hospital later, so keep your phone on, please."

"You feeling okay?" He asks with a bit of genuine concern in his eyes.

"I'm okay. I might be screaming later, though. Don't take it personally, okay?" You tell him as he helps you into the black SUV. Realization dawns on him and he nods before going to the driver's seat.

Outside the stadium where they are performing you see the lines of ecstatic fans ready to see the guys and you can't help reminiscing on the days when you were just a fan like any of them, before you fell in love with Jimin, before you hooked up with Jeongguk, before you even worked for HYBE. You would be standing in those lines, spending the money you saved for months on merch and waiting for your chance to glimpse the boys you loved to support. Now you are driving right past them to see the boys yourself, and hoping the fans don't see you.

"There you are," Jimin beams when you walk into the room where they're getting their hair and makeup done. You've arrived after sound check and there's an electric energy in the air.

"Y/N!" Jihye calls from couches on the other side of the room. "Come sit with us."

She and Ari are relaxing with the children while Taehyung and Hoseok play peekaboo with Moon, bright smiles plastered on both of their faces.

"Are you okay, Y/N?" Ari asks as you waddle over. "You look a little pale."

"I'm fine," you smile as you sit beside her, and she continues to eye you suspiciously.

You do your best during the intervening hours to act completely natural as your body prepares itself to give birth. You at least hope it will escape Jimin's notice, because you know he'll blow off the concert to get you to the hospital, even if you know it isn't time yet.

"Can I have a good luck kiss?" Jimin asks as they're about to head out on stage for the first time.

"You don't need luck. You're the greatest performer in the world and you've practiced to be perfect. You're gonna be great," you tell him, only for him to pout. "But you can have a kiss anyway." You peck him lightly on the lips, unable to avoid getting lipgloss on your mouth. He pouts harder and tries to pull you in for another, but you push him gently away. "Make up," you remind him, and he groans adorably.

"You're being so annoying," he teases. You want more than anything to be able to hold him close and let him know just how much you love and support him, but you're using so much control to hide your condition as pain aches through your abdomen that you know it up so concentrating you'll lose it.

"You can get as many kisses as you want after the concert," you promise him in consolation.

"I'm going to hold you to that."

"Jimin!" Hoseok calls to him from the stage lift.

"Enjoy the show," Jimin says with a wink before he goes to join the other members.

You wave goodbye to him and stand watch as he focuses himself. You don't let go of your breath until you see the small platform begin to ascend. Then you finally allow your body to relax as much as you can.

"Are you insane?" Ari says loudly in your ear as the loud music begins.

"What?" You practically shout back.

"Let's get you back to the couch," she tells you with a shake of her head and begins to lead you back to the dressing room where you can watch the show on the monitor. "How far apart are your contractions?"

"You knew?" You ask and she merely nods. "Do you think they noticed?" You wonder anxiously as you get further from the noise.

"Of course not," Jihye laughs. "Do you think Jimin would have gone out there if he knew you were in labor?" But one look at your face tells her you know he wouldn't, and that is exactly why you're hiding it.

"How far?" Ari asks again.

"About six minutes," you admit.

"Girl, you aren't making it through this concert," Jihye laughs.

"I know," you sigh. "But Jimin and Jeongguk have to, so you have to help me hide it, even if I have to leave in the middle, please?"

"Of course," Ari assures you, smiling as she gathers her little girl into her arms. "Are you scared?"

"Of course," you confess. "But I'm excited."

"Everyone is going to be so excited," Jihye agrees.

Jimin manages to see you just long enough during the first break to kiss your cheek while the stylists get him out of his clothes and into the next outfit. He's either too busy or too high on adrenaline to notice that you're sweating slightly and not talking.

"I think it's time for you to go," Ari tells you gently as she sees you struggling minutes before the end of the second act.

You sigh, unable to do anything but agree as you pull out your phone and call Junghoon.

"I need you to get the car ready," you tell him quietly.

"I'm already waiting at the door where I dropped you off," he replies. "Do you need help getting here?"

"No, I'll be okay." You hang up and nod to Ari, knowing she'll help you get there.

"Are you okay, Y/N?" Jin asks when he sees you walking down the hall with Ari as they come off for another wardrobe change.

"Yeah!" You lie with a shaky breath as you pause to speak to him. "Just a cramp, so Ari is helping me take a little walk."

Ari gives her husband a pointed look that tells him all he needs to know without saying a word.

"Hey, love," Jimin beams, smiling as he comes around his hyung's shoulder.

"Hey, Jiminie. You're doing great!" You force a smile.

"Tha-"

"Cmon, Jimin, we have to hurry," Jin interrupts, pulling the younger man in the other direction before he can even respond. Jimin follows with a giddy smile and you're on your way again.

"For the rest of the night I'm in the bathroom until they finish the encore, okay?"

"Yeah I got it," Ari assures you as she leads you down the hall.

Chapter 14

"Hello ami," Jimin smiles at the crowd, waving enthusiastically as he begins his final speech. "I've missed you." He can already feel tears beginning to prick his eyes as he looks at all the happy, cheering fans. "Someone said to me not very long ago that it's hard for ARMYs when you miss us, that you wonder how we're doing and if we're happy. I wonder about you, too. I hope you're happy and healthy." Jimin pauses to swallow the lump in his throat. "I know that recently, maybe I've shocked you or disappointed you. But all people need love in their lives, and I'm grateful for the love in my life. I want to share that with all of you. I hope you have love in your life. I love you, ami." Jimin makes a heart with his arms above his head.

For the first time in his life, Jimin isn't entirely sad to leave the stage after they've said their final goodbyes to ARMY for the night. Part of it is knowing that he'll get to see them again tomorrow, but most of it is that he can't wait to see you and to share his joy with you.

"Where's Y/N?" He asks immediately, skidding to a stop in the dressing room where he's the first to arrive. For the last couple of changes he's been told you're in the bathroom, and yet you're still not here to greet him.

"Thank God you're finally done!" Ari cries, getting up from the couch. "Y/N left for the hospital a couple hours ago! Go!" She tells him urgently.

It takes about two seconds for Jimin to register what she's saying. His mind replays all the little moments he didn't fully pay attention to during the day because he was too focused and excited about seeing ARMY. Jimin rushes to his phone before anyone else has time to move.

"Is she okay?" Jeongguk asks stupidly, not having put two and two together yet.

Jimin grabs Jeongguk by the front of his shirt. "Y/N's in labor, you idiot. Let's go." And without another word, he takes off at a run. He's surprised to find Junghoon waiting with the car ready for him, the back passenger door open and the driver already in his seat with the engine running.

"How did you know?" Jimin asks as Jeongguk climbs in and shuts the door.

"I took Y/N to the hospital two hours ago. As soon as I heard the concert ended I figured you'd want to get going," Junghoon explains and begins to pull away without waiting to be told. He drives as quickly as is safely possible, hoping he can get them there in time, while Jimin tries to reach Y/N on her cell, but she doesn't answer.

"She's okay, right? She's gonna be okay?" Jimin asks his best friend frantically.

"She'll be okay, Jimin. They both will," Jeongguk does his best to assure him.

"But it's early. She's a week early." Jimin can feel his breath accelerating with worry.

"It's alright, Jimin. After 37 weeks the baby should be fine," Guk tells him calmly.

"How do you know that?"

Jeongguk shrugs. "I read about it. I'm not useless. But Jimin, you need to calm down. When we get there, she'll need you. You can't be freaking out."

Jimin takes a deep breath, and he does calm down, but he still can't believe that you didn't tell him you were in labor, and he still can't get you on the phone. He practically jumps out of the car before Junghoon even puts it in park.

When he enters your private room you're standing, but leaning over the bed in obvious pain.

"Y/N-"

"Oh, thank God you're here!" You groan the moment you see him. "You didn't leave early did you?"

Jimin shakes his head in disbelief as he approaches you. "Is that why you didn't tell me you've been in labor all day?" He brushes back your hair so he can see your face more clearly before resting his hand on your lower back.

"I wanted your head to be where it needed to be. I knew there'd be time."

"You're lucky we made it in time," Jimin mutters. "Or we'd never forgive you."

"You can't stay mad at me," you chuckle just as another contraction wracks through your body and you buckle onto your elbows.

"You should get into bed, Y/N," Jimin tells you because he doesn't know what else to say. But you can't respond while the pain continues and you just let him support you while you wait for it to pass. Once it does you do as he suggests and he helps you climb into the bed once again.

"It won't be too long now, Jimin. They're close together. I need to see Jeongguk," you tell him breathlessly.

Jimin pauses momentarily. Of course, Jeongguk should be there, and he knows that, but there's a jealous little beat in his heart. It passes and Jimin nods. "I'll go find him."

Jimin rushes back out the doors to find Jeongguk waiting in the hallway texting the others. "She's asking for you," Jimin chokes out. The younger man gives him a surprised look but follows him back to your room.

"Is everything okay?" Guk asks when he walks in to find you panting and sweating in your hospital bed.

You nod emphatically. "I think the baby is coming soon. Are you going to be there?"

Jeongguk's brows furrow as he looks at you and then back at a silent Jimin, who can hardly lift his eyes from the ground.

"Y/N…" Jeongguk shakes his head. "It's so nice of you to consider me, but right now, what's best for baby is what's best for you. And Jimin is what's best for you. Jimin is the one you need with you, not me."

You sigh heavily but it comes out as a groan. "Okay, thank God! I was really trying to be nice, but I need Jimin!" You're practically yelling as a team in scrubs come through the door.

"It's almost time, Eomma," the midwife proclaims. "Let's get you down to the delivery room."

One of the nurses turns to Jeongguk and Jimin, the latter wearing a stunned expression. "Which one of you is coming with?" She asks, looking between them.

Jimin doesn't answer right away, so Jeongguk gives him a little shove with his shoulder. Jimin looks back at him, his mouth ajar.

"Go on. You'll see me after," Jeongguk smiles.

Jimin doesn't hesitate anymore after that and steps forward to follow the nurse's instructions as they prepare to move you. Jeongguk exits the room quietly and goes back out to meet the guys just as they arrive in the waiting room.

"Did we miss it?" Taehyung asks anxiously.

"No, they're just getting ready now. It might still be a little bit. We just have to wait now," Jeongguk tells them as he sits and sinks into a chair.

"How are you doing?" Namjoon asks when he takes a seat next to the maknae.

"I'm not the one who has to give birth," he chuckles nervously.

"True," Namjoon nods. "But you're about to be a father. How does that feel?"

Jeongguk sighs. "Honestly, hyung, I'm scared, but I'm glad I have Jimin to help."

"Really?" The leader asks in shock.

"Yeah, Jimin's going to be a good dad. He's much more nurturing than I could ever be. He always seems to know what the right thing to do is. I think the baby will be lucky to have him. And Y/N, of course."

Namjoon rests an arm around the younger's shoulders. "They'll be lucky to have you, too, Guk. You'll learn to be a good dad."

"You think so?" Jeongguk looks up with his large doe eyes.

"Of course. You love your baby, I know. And everything else you have to learn on the job. And we'll all help. It's gonna be fine."

Jeongguk takes a deep breath and sighs. "Really wish we could have had this talk like four months ago, hyung."

Namjoon huffs and shakes his head at himself. "Yeah, I know. I'm sorry. Let's just add it to the pile of ways I've failed you."

"You haven't failed me, hyung. Like you said, it's gonna be fine."

Chapter 14

You let your head fall back on the bed as you take a rest from pushing.

"You're doing great, Y/N, take a breath," the midwife instructs you calmly.

"You're almost there, love. I can see her head," Jimin smiles as he holds your hand. You squeeze it hard even though you should be saving as much energy as you can. "You swore you wouldn't look!"

"I can't help it, Y/N!" He winces at the pain.

"Well, you better. Please. I want you to still be attracted to me after this!" You groan as all the muscles in your body feel spent from the last god knows how long of pushing, but you still have a ways to go.

"Don't worry, baby. This isn't going to change a thing for me. You're blowing me away. You're doing so amazing, right now." Jimin presses a sweet kiss to your forehead.

"Ugh, just keep your eyes up here, buddy," you grunt as another contraction begins. Jimin only laughs because you have no idea how endearing you are to him right now. He doesn't know why either. He just knows that he's right where he needs to be, and he isn't going anywhere.

"Okay, Y/N, here we go," the midwife encourages you. "Big push, eomma."

You squeeze Jimin's hand tight again as your eyes shut and you bear down with all your might. You lack the energy even to cry out as you give everything you have to bring your baby into the world. "There you go, push, push, push. I've got baby's head," you hear the woman's excited voice tell you.

"Oh my god. Is it over?" You wonder desperately as you rest.

"Almost, Y/N. I need you to help with one more little push to get the shoulders, okay? Here we go." You do as she says and a moment later you can hear the first cry from your newborn.

"I told you so," Jimin whispers in your ear.

"Huh?" You wonder as your muscles collapse in exhaustion.

"You have a precious baby girl," the midwife informs you.

"I do?" You ask, feeling delirious and more tired than you've ever been in your life. "Where is she? I want her," you mumble.

A nurse comes to your other side to open the top part of your gown so the baby can be laid onto your bare chest. You take your hand away from Jimin's to cradle her against your skin and her crying settles a bit.

"Mochi," you coo softly, with tears clouding your eyes and making it difficult to see her. "You're finally here, baby girl. I've been dying to meet you." You press your lips as gently as possible to the soft skin of her head as she fusses. "Everyone is going to be so excited to see you. Right appa?"

You look up at Jimin to see him hiding his face behind his hand as gentle tears fall down his cheeks.

"Do you want to hold her?" You offer, even though you aren't sure you'll be able to let her go.

Jimin shakes his head, but lowers himself so he's closer to your level. "I can't. Not yet. She's yours for now. She's perfect." When you look in his eyes you know exactly why he's refused, and even though you think it's unnecessary you don't argue because you're enjoying having her in your arms too much.

It's merely minutes, yet it feels both timeless and an instant before a nurse is at your side again.

"We'll take her to get washed and do a few checkups and we'll have her back in a few minutes, okay, dear?" The nurse explains gently as she comes to take your baby. It's hard to even imagine them taking her from you, but you let the nurse lift her away, hoping to have her back all the sooner. You notice for the first time that the number of people in the room has lowered considerably while you were enthralled with the little girl.

"I miss her," you whisper to Jimin.

He laughs lightly at you, wiping a few tears from his face as you do the same. "She'll be right back. Don't worry."

"I know," you reply in a watery voice before you manage to calm yourself with a deep breath. "You should go tell the boys."

"You'll be okay?" Jimin brushes your hair, back with his fingers, not ready to leave you either.

"I'll be fine," you promise him. He still seems hesitant when he leans in to press his lips to yours. He can feel how tired you are in the lazy way but heartfelt way you kiss him back.

"I'm so proud of you," he whispers before he leaves the room with a smile.

As Jimin enters the waiting room all the boys jump to their feet.

"Is everything okay?" Jeongguk asks first.

Jimin nods happily. "They're perfect. The nurse said just to give them ten minutes or so to get cleaned up and you can see them."

"Well?!" Taehyung jumps in. "Is it a boy or a girl?"

Jimin grins smugly at the taller man. "You owe me fifty thousand won."

"Aw man. What's her name?" Tae continues.

Jimin looks pointedly at Jeongguk. Y/N had decided that he could be the one to name the baby when it came, but he hadn't given her any ideas or suggestions yet. "Mm, I'll wait until we meet her to tell you."

Jimin sits down with the others while they chat excitedly, biding their time to be able to see the two of you. Yoongi asks Jimin questions about things he'd read about childbirth while Namjoon has to wrestle Taehyung's phone away from him to prevent him from posting a post concert selca.

"If you post a hospital picture everyone will know where we are since it was leaked in that article and then every ARMY in Seoul will be here," Namjoon reminds him.

"Fine, fine. Gimme back my phone," Tae whines as Namjoon puts the device in his own pocket.

"Family of Y/N?" A nurse calls from the door, clearly surprised when all 7 members of BTS stand to answer. "Um, she said you can come back now," the girl continues, clearly flustered, the red in her face only deepening when Hoseok winks at her as he passes by.

Namjoon reminds him to be quiet as they enter your room. It's late and you're exhausted and the lights have been dimmed, but you're still excited to see them and to have them meet your little girl.

"Well done, Y/N," Jin tells you when you tear your eyes away from the newborn in your arms and show your beaming smile.

"Aigo, she's so small," Hoseok coos from behind Jeongguk.

"Can we hold her?" Taehyung can't seem to stop himself from asking, receiving a swift smack to the back from Yoongi.

"JK needs to hold her first," Jimin says matter of factly. "And then I call dibs."

"You haven't held her yet?" Jeongguk asks, surprised. Jimin shakes his head. "Y/N, can I?" His eyes are pleading, as if he's afraid you'll say no. You smile and nod at him, inviting him to step forward. He reaches to pick her up as gently as if she was made of something even more fragile than glass. He must have studied because he looks like he knows exactly what to do and how to hold her, cradling her so protectively in his arms. For a moment he can't say anything at all.

"The name," Hoseok whispers. "What's her name?"

Jeongguk smiles a sweet smile down at the precious girl in his arms. "Everyone say 'Hi, Bora'."

A chorus of 'Aw's and 'hi, Bora's fills the room

"That's cute, Guk," you nod happily at him.

He shrugs subtly, trying not to jostle the newly christened infant. "I wasn't sure at first. But she shares our birthday, so it seems fitting."

"A real ARMY brat," Yoongi murmurs.

"Yah! I wanted to make that joke!" Jin hisses at the man next to him. Even you manage to chuckle as you lean your head back. Your eyes feel so heavy.

"Okay boys. I know everyone wants to hold the baby, but Y/N's had a long, hard day, and so have all of us. We should let them rest. We can hold the baby tomorrow," Namjoon says in an attempt to get them all out of your hair.

"Aw, hyung," Tae whines playfully.

"Come on. Get," Namjoon shoos them. "You need to rest for night two."

"Can you get them to go and rest too?" You ask Namjoon as the others begin to retreat. You can already tell that Jeongguk doesn't want to leave, and Jimin is still chomping at the bit for his chance to hold Bora.

Namjoon looks between the two men and scoffs. "Not a chance. You two can stay, but make sure you get some rest, alright? We still have a concert to do tomorrow."

Both men nod before their leader walks away.

Jeongguk smiles as he dips his head to kiss Bora on the forehead, smelling her head in the process. "Oh my god," he sighs. "I've always heard people say babies smell good, but it's so true." He smells her again, smiling giddily as he looks at Jimin. "Have you smelled her?"

"No." Jimin can't quite keep the pout out of his voice. "I haven't even held her yet!" His hands shake with anticipation and Jeongguk just laughs.

"Guk, please. He's been really good. He wouldn't hold her until you got your chance. Let him have a minute?" You plead on your boyfriend's behalf.

Jeongguk smiles again. "Well, you are her father."

"Guk-"

"No, Jimin, you are. I know you are, and I'm glad. You love her as much as I do, I know that. Besides…" Jeongguk pauses to look into Jimin's eyes and poke out his index finger. "You are me."

An ecstatic smile breaks across Jimin's face. "I am you," he sings back, connecting his finger to the other man's. Jeongguk passes the tiny girl over into Jimin's arms, watching carefully to see that she's safe.

"Hey, Mochi," Jimin coos at her while they both look on at her adoringly. A moment later both men's heads snap to you when they hear your sudden sob. "What's wrong?"

You shake your head and cover your face with your hands. "Nothing! That was just so cute!" You sob while they laugh.

Whether it's the sound or she's just hungry, all attention turns back to Bora as cries erupt from her tiny mouth. Sooner than you'd think possible a nurse appears beside Jimin.

"Do you want to try feeding now?" She asks and you nod, so Jimin hands the infant over to you.

"I think I'll go," Jeongguk says as the nurse helps you get situated, opening your gown.

"Guk, you don't have to leave," you assure him. Not like it's anything he hasn't seen before.

"No. I'm beat. And she's good here with the two of you. But I'll be back tomorrow morning, before rehearsal," he promises as he backs out of the room.

"Gukkie, wait!" Jimin grabs the man's arm and pulls him into a hug. "I love you," he says quietly in the other's ear.

"I love you, too, Jimin," Jeongguk smiles as he squeezes him back tightly. "And thank you."

Jisung drags you back towards the entrance to the mountain with one hand around your bicep, a scowl on his face the entire time. Felix frowns when he takes notice of it.

“Jisung, relax,” he says. “She's—”

“I know what she is,” Jisung interrupts, continuing to face forward. “We’ll let the rest of the council decide what to do with her.”

Always Been You - Part Three

You were glad you’d be spending your afternoon outside of the office. After your encounter with Jongseong, your ex-boyfriend, you were in a mild panic that grew the more you stayed inside that meeting room. You shouldn’t have been so careless, you should’ve done better research about the company you were applying for, about the people who worked closely with Heeseung. If you had known there was a possibility of you crossing paths with him, you wouldn’t have accepted this job.

Still, there was nothing you could do about it. It was only a matter of time before Heeseung asked you questions, before the truth about your return came to light. You could already imagine the headlines, how they would write about you in a mocking, sad tone, bringing back your past to justify your present and explain why a once rich socialite was now working as someone’s assistant. It wasn’t embarrassing, it was simply painful. At least, you were doing something for yourself on your terms. That was important to you, even if no one else cared about it.

As Heeseung’s driver took you to the shopping district, you glanced out of the window, watching the tall buildings surrounding you, unable to see where they ended. It had been a long time since you were driven through these streets, watching other cars pass by, people walking at a quick pace on the sidewalks.

“Where should I park, sir?” The driver asked, glancing at Heeseung who sat alone in the backseat.

“You can stop at the first boutique. Y/N will call you once we are done so you can drive us to our next appointment.”

You nodded and smiled softly at the driver as he turned left. Through the rearview mirror, you found Heeseung staring at you. Ever since the two of you had entered the car, he hadn’t taken his eyes from you. You didn’t glance at him for too long, but every time you did, you tried to read his expression. Was he disappointed, upset? You didn’t know. He never gave away how he truly felt. It seemed like nothing ever shook him to his core. You wished you were slightly more like him, unbothered by the world around you, focused on your goals and the next great thing.

“We’re here.”

“Thank you for driving us here.” You smiled at the driver and opened the car door, exiting the vehicle. After fixing your jacket, you opened the back door and waited for Heeseung to leave the car.

“Which one should we head to?” He closed the buttons of his jacket and glanced at the different boutiques, overwhelmed. You closed the car door and waved at Heeseung’s driver who reciprocated the gesture before driving away.

You glanced at the different boutiques and their names, unable to hide the nostalgic smile that hit you. There had been times where before major social events, you’d come here with your mother to try on different outfits, explore what was in style, what was going out of fashion. These boutiques were so exclusive that only people with a very high social status could schedule appointments at them.

After spotting the name of the boutique you had scheduled your first appointment at, you pointed at it and smiled at Heeseung.

“That’s our first spot. I selected this boutique because they have high-quality tailored suits and I feel like that is a great place to start.”

He nodded, pleased. As usual, Heeseung started to walk on his own, and a few seconds later, you caught up to him, making sure you’d stop in front of him to open the doors for him and introduce him to whoever was working at the store.

When you entered the first boutique, you had to hold your breath. The walls were lined with different suits in different colours and fabrics, all organized from the darkest to the lightest shade. In front of the counter, there was a glass display of accessories: watches, bracelets, golden necklaces, cufflinks. Everything looked shinier under the lights even if the place relied mostly on natural light.

Heeseung and you were quickly taken to a private room, passing by several rows of ties with all colours and simple patterns, open drawers with white and blue buttoned shirts, and a couple of employees who were quick to greet Heeseung with a bright smile and a bow that he didn’t reciprocate.

Inside the room, there was a small platform in the centre surrounded by mirrors so that whoever stood on it could see their outfit from several angles. In one of the corners, there was a small changing room and next to the entrance door, there was a racket with a couple of suits already picked out. You smiled, happy with the ones they picked out under your instructions through your phone call.

Quickly, the try-on of suits started. One after the other, Heeseung would head into the changing room, change into a suit and walk outside, to stand on the platform while the tailor explained how they could alter the suit to make it better for his height and body proportions. You remained seated on the couch, looking over Heeseung’s schedule and sending a couple of emails, glancing his way occasionally to see how he was doing.

After a few tries, Heeseung left the changing room wearing a dark blue tuxedo with a black vest and white shirt underneath. Your lips parted in slight delight as you watched him make his way towards the platform, flustered. If he was your friend, you would let him know he looked extremely good wearing it. It wasn’t like what he had tried on up until this point made him look bad. You were starting to believe that Heeseung couldn’t look bad on anything.

“It’s… dark blue.” He glanced at the tailor, worried. “I… don’t wear colour. Besides, it’s for my wedding. Shouldn’t it be… black? Like a black tuxedo, at least?”

Heeseung always wore black suits. It was what he was safe in. And yet, when you selected suits and tuxedos for him to try, you couldn’t resist adding this one. As soon as you saw it, you knew he had to at least try it on. You hoped he would pick this one. He would look extremely handsome in his wedding pictures. However, you couldn’t deny that Heeseung was handsome.

“What if you try it on with a bowtie?” The tailor suggested. “I am sure you’ll like to see yourself better.”

“I’m…” His eyes found yours in the reflection and you nodded softly at him. “I can try, yes.”

“Bring a black one. And a dark blue one as well to match the shade of the suit.” You suggested and the tailor bowed to Heeseung and exited the room. You stood up and walked closer to him, keeping your eyes on his reflection, unable to hide your amazement. “It suits you quite well. Why are you so worried?”

“I am not used to… wearing colour. I can’t say I… dislike it.” He turned to look at the back of his jacket, glancing at the cuffs. “But for my wedding? Isn’t it too much?”

“I don’t understand why you say it would be too much…” You crossed your arms, somewhat confused. “It’s your wedding, after all. You should look your best, you should look as exquisite as possible.”

He gulped and for the first time, you saw a glimpse of sadness and concern across Heeseung’s features. He quickly cleared his throat and fixed his shirt, avoiding your gaze.

“I… apologise for overstepping my boundaries.” You bowed to him, regretful of speaking so casually to him. “I’ll be more careful next time.”

Slowly, you turned around and made your way back to the couch, sitting down to get back to work. When you grabbed your tablet, Heeseung took a deep breath and turned around to face you.

“Sometimes, I wish you overstepped your boundaries more. You’re always tiptoeing when you’re around me, probably afraid of what I might say, but I want to know what you think. I value your opinion, Y/N. I value you.”

There was a layer of emotion in his voice that you had never heard before, a look in his eyes that begged to be let out, that asked you to recognise it. And yet, you didn’t. You couldn’t. And right now, if Heeseung wanted to value you and your opinion, maybe it was time for you to give him an explanation.

However, as you were about to speak, the tailor came back with a couple of bow ties and quickly got to work again, keeping Heeseung busy. You did the same and kept on answering emails and looking over documents on your tablet, unsure if you’d ever get the chance to tell the truth to Heeseung, unsure if after he found out everything, he’d still value your opinion, if he’d still value you.

However, you weren’t sure what that value meant to him.

Always Been You - Part Three

Despite all of Heeseung’s efforts to quickly finish his suit shopping spree, the truth was the sun had already set outside. After finding a tuxedo for his wedding and another one for his engagement party, you convinced him to at least try on some more colourful suits. As much as Heeseung found it unnecessary – he liked wearing black suits, they were practical and versatile – he was now more than delighted he had agreed to your offer.

Watching you in this kind of environment was a different sight from the one he had at the office. Here, you were confident, comfortable. Always kind and respectful, but Heeseung didn’t expect anything else from you. Right now, you were the one in charge. You asked tailors and employees to bring him different designs, different colours and patterns. All of them fitted Heeseung well, but unless you nodded in approval, he wouldn’t take them.

“How are you when it comes to neckties?” You glanced at his reflection in the mirror, smiling. “Do you only have black ones?”

“I… have a few colourful ones.” He chuckled, avoiding looking at you. “Just a red one. And a blue one. That’s all.”

“And cufflinks?”

“I don’t use them.” He shook his head. This answer didn’t seem to convince you.

You turned to look at an employee and smiled softly at them. “Could you bring some neckties for him to try on with this suit? And discreet cufflinks with simple designs. Preferably if they’re black or bathed in silver. No gold.”

“Of course. I’ll be right back.”

The employee left the room and you took a deep breath, your eyes finding Heeseung’s reflection in the mirror again.

“Why not gold?”

“I find silver suits you better. It’s also more versatile. I can ask them to bring some gold ones if you’d prefer it.”

He shook his head and glanced at his reflection in the mirror, trying his best to avoid meeting your eyes on him. Heeseung couldn’t help but fix his posture and cuffs, closing the buttons of his shirt to get it ready for the ties. You followed every one of his movements with your lips slightly parted, a shade of sadness in your eyes. He cleared his throat and you glanced at the door, seeing an employee walking in with a box containing different ties rolled up in small compartments and another one on top with what Heeseung assumed to be cufflinks.

“Thank you.” The employee bowed and helped you take one of the ties from the box, unrolling it to show a deep burgundy shade. “This one is wonderful. The fabric is very good too!”

For some reason, this brought a smile to the employee’s face who bowed again, pleased. You made your way towards Heeseung and extended him the tie. He took it and quickly put it on, trying to tie the knot around his neck.

However, it had been a while since Heeseung had done this. All of his ties were already ready for him to put them over his head and adjust them around his neck. This one needed to be tied entirely.

“I’m… struggling slightly. I… don’t remember how to–”

You stepped closer to Heeseung and grabbed the tie, your eyes meeting his with concern. He couldn’t help but glance at your lips, his mind suddenly filled with thoughts he wanted to forget. It was happening again.

“Can I?” You whispered and he nodded slowly, holding his breath. Without wasting any more time, you helped him with his tie. He knew he should pay attention to what you were doing, but the proximity he shared with you was hard to ignore. When you finished, you smiled at your work, satisfied. “It’s been a while since I did this for anyone.”

You stepped aside and gestured to his reflection so he could have a better look at himself. The only difference was the shade of the tie, but he couldn’t help but appreciate his reflection. He looked more sophisticated and secretly, he liked it even more because you had chosen it.

“When was the last time?” He couldn’t help but ask, fixing the grip of the tie around his neck. You joined him again after grabbing some cufflinks and he extended his arm to you, noticing the slight frown in your expression, your avoidance of his gaze on you. “You don’t have to answer it.”

“I should be honest with you.” You sighed, placing one of the cufflinks, gesturing to his other arm with your head and forcing out a smile at him. “You’re my boss, after all. You should know what I entail. There are certain things your curriculum doesn’t carry.”

He could tell that was your attempt at a joke, one that only you understood. Although Heeseung knew what had happened to you and your family, he still wanted to know what all of that had made you feel. All the information he got was from online articles, all with dubious content and an extremely biased angle, something that infuriated him slightly.

“Go ahead, then. What do you entail, Y/N?”

A simple question, but he knew it had a very complicated and nuanced answer. You finished putting his cufflink on and stepped back, not lifting your eyes. After struggling with your thoughts for a while, you finally mustered the courage to look at him, and explain who you were to him.

“I was born in this city. My parents were extremely wealthy. The wealthiest at one point. I used to come to these boutiques every other week as a child and a teenager just to get the newest fashion. I went to every social gathering, made it to the front of several gossip magazines often. My lifestyle was desired and what people should aspire to be. I had everything. Loving and supportive parents. Incredible friends. The greatest boyfriend I could ever ask for.” You chuckled, finding your reflection in the mirror. Heeseung’s heart turned in its chest when he saw the pain and suffering your eyes carried. “Then, all of that changed overnight. I decided to leave for a while hoping things would calm down. They didn’t. So I was away for five years. I decided to come back because this is where I feel at home and I was tired of… hiding. Despite the mess, despite the chaos, I… I find comfort in the tall buildings and busy traffic. And I want to live my life for myself, as silly as it may sound.” You cleared your throat and met his eyes. “How do you feel about your attire?”

There was so much Heeseung wanted to tell you. That it wasn’t silly to want to live life for yourself, to want to rewrite your story and who you are. That you were brave for what you were doing. That you were stronger than you gave yourself credit for. You used to have everything, yes. But you were still everything. At least, to Heeseung. Because your worth was not defined by what you used to have or what you currently had. Your worth was defined by who you were now. It’s intrinsically and uniquely yours. Special.

And yet, despite all of these thoughts, he couldn’t bring himself to tell them out loud to you. He was afraid of not being able to stop, of revealing everything to you. Instead, he focused on his clothes and pretended what you had said to him didn’t need an answer.

“I like it.” He cleared his throat and turned to the employee who had witnessed the entire conversation between you and him. It didn’t matter, though. They couldn’t talk about what they witnessed here. “Please, pack everything I have selected to take with me. We’ll come back some other day to resume this.”

“Of course.” The employee bowed and exited the private room, leaving you and Heeseung alone again.

You carefully removed the cufflinks from his jacket and he loosened the tie around his neck, unsure if his reaction had been the best or the right one. Still, he didn’t know what you were looking for in him. A friend? It certainly wasn’t that, you kept your distance from him. A mentor? You didn’t seem to be looking for advice or guidance.

“I am not sure what to say to you.” He admitted, avoiding looking at you.

“There’s nothing to be said.” You shrugged and stopped what you were doing, looking at him, defeated. “I understand if after knowing this you choose to fire me or replace me. I don’t want to become a burden to you, your reputation or even the company.”

You bowed again leaving Heeseung somewhat in shock. Never in his wildest thoughts did he ever consider firing you. After all, you were great at your job. That was why you were still his assistant.

“Your past doesn’t define you, Y/N. It shapes you, yes. But we can always adapt and change.” He offered you a consoling smile. “Isn’t that what you’re doing right now? Becoming who you want to become?”

“I… guess…?” There was a certain doubt in your voice but a shy smile crept up on your features right after. You lowered your head, slowly. “Thank you, sir.”

He chuckled. “Heeseung. You can call me Heeseung.”

This surprised you but it also brought a happy smile to your features. Heeseung couldn’t say he was surprised about it. After all, around him, everyone called him by sir and not by his name. However, the more he relied on you, the more he wanted you to trust him, the more he wanted to show those around him that they should have you in high regard as he had. Because Heeseung knew you wouldn’t be his assistant forever.

You had so much potential to be more than that. Except, as it was usual when he was around you, he buried down what that thought truly meant. Admitting it would make Heeseung feel vulnerable and emotional. And right now, he wanted to be seen as practical and logical.

Even when it came to matters of the heart.

Always Been You - Part Three

Your days at the office quickly became a boring routine. Answering phone calls, keeping Heeseung’s schedule in check, preparing documents for his meetings, going to said meetings with him. It was tedious, and the work seemed to constantly pile up, never slowing down.

Everything was different now. After you went with Heeseung to the different boutiques, someone got a photo of the two of you and Click! was quick to make a post about it, speculating what kind of relationship you two had. It didn’t take long for them to find out that you were Heeseung’s assistant and the comments were brutal, to say the least. There were theories about revenge, about you wanting to destroy his company, and prevent his wedding from happening. It was all silly and based on senseless ideas, but it still hurt. Not only you but Heeseung as well.

People were starting to lose trust in him at the company and you could see it. Every time there was a board meeting more and more people sided with Jongseong now, cementing the idea that if there was a time a new president had to be elected, he would take Heeseung’s place. You knew that was his end goal, to be at the top, but you couldn’t let it happen.

Heeseung appeared cold and distant when you first met him, but you came to understand that he cherishes and cares deeply about those around him. Jongseong, however, didn’t care about those around him unless he could gain something from them. When he was with you, he gained social status. When you fell from grace, you could no longer serve your purpose so he left you. It had been a tremendously painful breakup to deal with, but now, whenever you crossed paths with him at the company, he was just another man in a suit. Thankfully, he ignored you as well. After all, you were inferior to him. A mere assistant. Not worthy of anything, not even a kind smile or a polite hello.

Lately, you and Jake were hanging out more frequently. He tended to meet you for lunch and you’d chat about your day, catching up with each other. Today was no exception. When your lunch hour arrived, you called him and were quickly greeted by his happy voice on the other side of the line.

“I’m already at the lobby. Where should we meet this time?”

You glanced at your desk and the amount of paperwork you had to work on. “Could we have lunch at the small restaurant on the ground floor? I have a lot of work to do…”

“You should enjoy your lunch hour, Y/N!” He sighed. “I had picked up a nice restaurant and everything…”

“That’s sweet…” You lifted your eyes and glanced inside Heeseung’s office where he sat by his desk, focused on his computer screen. His lips were pursed, his gaze narrowed on what he was focusing on. You couldn’t help but admire his features from afar, smiling to yourself. “He might need me, you know?”

“Well, I need you too!” Jake whined and you rolled your eyes. “I mean it. Work is important, but you won’t get paid more for working all of these extra hours.”

You bit your lower lip. “He does pay me when I work extra hours, though. Quite well, actually. Things are complicated around here… ever since… the article.”

“I understand…” Jake sighed. “We’ll have lunch where you want. I’m glad to be able to spend some time with you, at least. Better than nothing. He’s making you work too much.”

“I don’t mind.” You didn’t. Your job might be boring and repetitive, but the small interactions and positive feedback you received from him were worth it. “I’ll meet you at the lobby in five minutes, ok?”

After hearing his reply, you hung up the call and stood up from your chair, walking towards Heeseung’s office and knocking on the door.

“Come on in.”

You opened the door slightly and stepped inside. Heeseung focused all of his attention on you, expectantly.

“I’ll go and have lunch now.” You smiled. “I am here to remind you that you have lunch with your fiancée in half an hour. The reservation is made in your name. She told me she’d meet you there.”

“Thank you, Y/N.” He pursed his lips. “Are you… having lunch by yourself?”

You shook your head. “I’m meeting with a friend. Jake Sim, from Sim Entreprises?”

He nodded. “I’ve heard of him, yes. Enjoy your meal.”

“If you need anything, I am one phone call away,” you reassured him with a smile. “Enjoy your meal as well.”

You bowed to him and afterwards, exited his office, finding Sunoo near your desk, Sunghoon next to him. You bowed at him, raising an eyebrow as you glanced at the two of them. Sunoo and Sunghoon were much closer than you and Heeseung and spoke casually with one another.

“Can I help you with anything?”

“I was telling Sunghoon that you were chatting with Heeseung.” Sunoo shrugged. “He wanted to check for himself.”

“I just wanted to make sure he wasn’t lying to me.” Sunghoon tried to defend himself, but you could see the mischievousness piercing through his eyes. If there was anyone in this building that believed rumours, it was him.

“I can assure you that Sunoo wasn’t lying to you. I was about to head out to lunch and decided to inform him in case he needs my assistance while I’m away.”

“I’m sure he’s always delighted when you offer your… assistance.” Sunghoon nodded, smirking at you. He gestured to the office behind you. “Is he ready to have lunch?”

“He’s having lunch with his fiancée today. I’m afraid he won’t be able to join you.”

This information didn’t please Sunghoon in the slightest. He shook his head, mumbling under his breath, “He should just dump her, I seriously don’t get him.”

You knew you weren’t supposed to have heard that so you just quietly returned to your desk and started to grab your belongings, putting on your jacket and grabbing your phone from the desk.

“Do you want to join me for lunch?” Sunghoon asked Sunoo who shrugged.

“I’ll eat in the common room. Do you want to eat with commoners like us?”

“Eat with me at my office, then!” Sunghoon clapped, satisfied at his solution. “Order some nice food for me from that place I like! I’ll be waiting for my food and you,” he gestured to the door behind him, “in my office.”

“Fine.” Sunoo rolled his eyes and you smiled at him watching as Sunghoon disappeared into his office. “I swear, this man is so annoying.”

“He does have his charm.” You joked and waved at Sunoo who returned the gesture. “Have fun during your lunch.”

“Let’s see how much gossip slips out of his mouth this time…” He sighed in annoyance but offered you a kind smile. “Have fun too and enjoy your meal. And rest! You’ve been working too much.”

You nodded and started to walk towards the elevators, seeing that Jake had already texted you, asking where you were and if you were taking long.

I’m on my way, you replied and saved your phone in your bag, going to meet with him in the lobby of the building so the two of you could have lunch and maybe, he could let you know of all of the information he knew about Heeseung. Or maybe, just like any other time, his leads would take him nowhere and you’d be left in the unknown when it came to Heeseung.

Not that it mattered much to you. His past would not define him. You had learned that from him.

Always Been You - Part Three

The restaurant was quiet when Heeseung arrived. After stating his name, he was quickly guided to his table where his fiancée was already waiting for him. She stood up from her seat and walked closer to him, planting a soft kiss on his cheek.

“I’m sorry I’m late.” He smiled at her and she shrugged, sitting down opposite to him.

“I decided to get here earlier. I was afraid I wouldn’t find any place to park…” She picked up the restaurant’s menu and glanced at Heeseung. “Shall we order?”

She didn’t wait for an answer and focused her attention on the menu in front of her. Heeseung sighed and picked the menu next to him, reading the different names of the dishes, unsure of what he’d order for this meal. Maybe, he would order something light with not a lot of strong flavours.

However, even though Heeseung was trying to choose what to eat, he couldn’t get past the strange energy that surrounded them at this table. His fiancée kept biting her lip as she rolled a strand of hair in her finger, lifting her eyes to look at him, wary. Heeseung had spent enough time with her to know that she’d probably request something of him. Probably delay their wedding once more or request more in their prenup agreement. Those were the only reasons why they ever met for lunch. To discuss their future together that apparently, none of them was looking forward to.

“Go ahead.” He closed the menu and focused his attention on her, unbothered. It was easy to know this information before the meal was served. “What is it this time?”

She struggled with her words for a while, ignoring Heeseung’s statement. Her eyes glossed over the different tables at the restaurant and when she spoke to him, the words that left her mouth were unexpected.

“Let’s… have our engagement party as soon as possible.”

“And our wedding?” She pursed her lips. “Is there anything you want to change in the prenup agreement? I can have my lawyers look at it again.”

“One step at a time, Heeseung.” Her eyes lingered on him before she added, “I think we should focus on the engagement party now. Make it as big as possible. Have press, important people, throw it at a massive venue with lots of guests. Let the world know that… we’re getting… married. Make it as memorable as possible.”

Heeseung nodded, somewhat uncomfortable with her request. Up until now, she had never cared about a big engagement party. All she wanted was to make everything as small and discreet as possible. After all, the fewer people knew she was getting married, the better. This was a deal of convenience, not a pretty and loving wedding. It would never be that, she had made that very clear since the beginning.

“What changed?” He couldn’t help but ask. “Did you suddenly start to have feelings for me?”

She rolled her eyes, frowning. “No. I just want to end this. So why not end it with a bang?”

Heeseung narrowed his eyes on her. She kept avoiding looking at him, biting her lower lip. Whatever intentions she had about this, she wasn’t telling him. And that left him worried.

“Fine, let’s do it as soon as possible. Do you have any preference on the day or place?”

“You and your assistant can figure that out.” There was a slight disdain in her voice. “Just let me know when, where and what time and I’ll show up.”

“I’ll let you know, then. I’ll keep you informed on everything and if it’s necessary, I’ll contact you. After all, this should make us both happy. If we don’t love each other, then at least, we should be able to have fun. I don’t want us to despise each other after we get married.”

She gulped and nodded. “I know. It’s just… Are you sure you want to do this? We will never be a happy couple, Heeseung. I know that you need to get married to be seen as reliable to investors, which is stupid, by the way. I agreed to this because I’d have a good life. But are you sure this is what you want? What if we fall in love with other people after we get married?”

Heeseung wasn’t sure if this was what he wanted. After all, so much had changed since they first agreed to it. He still needed to be seen as reliable to investors and being seen as a married man who loved his wife and was invested in his marriage was enough to convince them, even if that was all fake. And his fiancée would have a nice life, a wonderful place to live in, access to all of the great luxuries money can offer. It all seemed great in theory because Heeseung thought he wouldn’t fall in love with anyone else. After all, he never expected you to be back.

And now that you were back, that complicated things tremendously. Because he still needed to get married, now more than ever. The news that had broken out about him and you had shaken things up and put him in a tough spot. If getting married wasn’t a necessity and top priority to him, he would be the one calling off this wedding, this engagement. Once he had hoped that he could fall in love with the woman across from him, that maybe she would also fall in love with him. But now he knew that would never be possible while his heart was still yours.

“I am choosing to marry you.” He looked into her eyes, speaking calmly. “I am choosing to become your husband. Whether we love each other or not, that was never part of the equation. But I am choosing once again to be faithful to you. I am making this choice.”

It was a brutal choice to make and he knew it. He was admitting to himself that he was not in love with his fiancée, that all of this was merely a deal for the both of them, and that he would still give his all to her, even if his heart belonged to someone else. While he was engaged and married to her, he would not act on his feelings for someone else, no matter how strong they were.

“You’re my friend, Heeseung. And I can’t promise you I’ll make the same sacrifices you are willing to make. I’ll ask you again,” she grabbed his hand and looked him in the eyes, worried, “are you sure about this?”

She was offering him a way out, she was giving him space to call off this engagement and pretend it had never happened. However, he couldn’t do it. More so because calling this off would only make his position at the company worse, because by doing so he would have to deal with his feelings for you. And he didn’t want that. He wanted everything to remain as it was, to pretend that your arrival hadn’t changed anything in his life. But he knew it had and so did his fiancée. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be asking all of these questions.

“I am sure.” He gulped right after, attempting to send down the words stuck in his throat, the desperation of wanting to leave this situation. The disappointment in his fiancée’s face was unexpected, but also understandable.

The rest of lunch was awkward at best. Despite their attempts at chatting with one another, there was nothing for them to connect over, they wouldn’t open up to one another. After their meal ended, they went their separate ways and Heeseung returned to the office, wondering whether or not he had made the right decision.

His confirmation came when, after his driver parked the car in front of the company’s building, he stepped outside of the vehicle and saw you having lunch with someone who smiled fondly at you while you laughed excitedly at something.

Heeseung couldn’t help but feel his heart being ripped out of his chest, the pain washing over him as he realised that his love for you would always be one-sided.

He would never be able to make you smile.

He would never be able to make you laugh.

He would never be able to share a meal with you, look fondly at you, or hold your hand softly in his.

It was a brutal and painful realisation, but one that also brought him some comfort.

He had made the right decision, after all.

Despite the pain and unhappiness it would bring, Heeseung would get married.
