With The Movies Throwing Away Most Relevant Things About The Characters' Appearances, They Might As Well

With the movies throwing away most relevant things about the characters' appearances, they might as well have saved the hair dye and let Katniss be blonde and Peeta brunette. What's the point when Haymitch looks more like Peeta and they just used JLaw's blond and bald nephews for the toast babies? At that point it's just to pretend they're doing something when they didn't get the point of these canon descriptions at all.

The Everlark quote that is eating holes in my brain at the moment is:

"I have the pearl, though, secured in a parachute with the spile and the medicine at my waist. I hope it makes it back to District 12. Surely my mother and Prim will know to return it to Peeta before they bury my body."

Just. Gosh. All the things the pearl represents and how immediately it became her most treasured possession because Peeta gave it to her. But also. The fondness. The anguish. The way she plans for Peeta to have a piece of her to keep forever. The dramatic scene she pictures of her family (ft Peeta) grieving at her funeral. The statement that "SURELY" her mother and sister will understand the weight, the SIGNIFICANCE of the pearl and simultaneously acknowledge the depth of Peeta's loss in the midst of their own. The fact that she expects her mother and her sister to NOT ONLY accept that she chose to die so Peeta could live BUT ALSO TO CARE FOR HIM AFTER HER DEATH. Ugh it's so much all at once and I am in agony

i wish there was more intentional casting in the hunger games movies similar to how all district 11 characters are black. give me ethnically latino characters in districts with high latino populations like districts 2, 5, or 10. you're telling me no other districts have indigenous populations like the seam in 12? not one district 4 tribute is asian? not too sure if the sotr movie will remedy this, but we'll just stick with wishful thinking and headcanons for now <3

it’s been so long since I’ve watched the movies so I didn’t realize how stiff and dull they are until now☠️

let's talk book vs. movie! i'm curious. what do you think about how they handled this part in the movie adaptation?

yall I am DEEP in thg trenches. I cannot listen to folk music, hear an Appalachian accent, see the color green or orange, ducks, dandelions, combat boots, snares, signs that read ‘no hunting’, fences, lakes, bridal shops, blonde curls, black braids, small birds, squirrels, bakery’s, paintings, lamb, goat, my big green corduroy jacket, my old teacher named snow, the orange cat that roamed my school and ate my leftovers, my grandmothers colorful old hippie dresses and fancy pins, the forest that literally surrounds my home, the sound of the firecrackers these boys lit near where I sat by a river, my dads shooting earmuffs, and more! without being reminded of the hunger games books!
