㋡ hiiiii everyone i am back with some more solar return content ! in this guide, i will dive more into everything i’ve learned about solar return ♡

disclaimer. not a professional astrologer, just passionate about astrology <3 i’m still learning but i want to share what i know with yall (*´∇｀*) + these are not my photos and gifs

what is a solar return chart ?

a solar return chart can give you insights on the general themes & events that might happen in the year ahead

it’s only valid for a year when the sun returns to the exact degree of your natal sun until it goes another round and returns there once again the next year (in which you’ll have to generate another chart)

some things to keep in mind #

since the planets’ movements through the signs are limited (except for mars) & outer planets move sooo slow, house placements are seen more important as they bring more significant differences each year

remember !! planets are energies, signs are qualities, and house are areas

planets show what kinds of energy

signs that the planets fall in show how those energies are expressed

houses where they’re at show which areas of life those energies are applied to

you can already feel your SR year during three months prior to your SR birthday. for some it might be a bit later, but generally what happens near the start of your SR year can predict the overall theme of that year

ascendant

your approach to life, first/immediate reaction to situations and people, suggests the main theme of the year, health issues, problems and matters throughout the year, the part of your personality that will rise to the surface

your ascendant will be the first energy/change that you’d feel when entering a new SR year. SR and natal planets in 1H and/or conjunct with SR ascendant will influence this as well

the natal houses that the SR ascendant falls into will show some issues from the area that will be highlighted, as well as the types of people that would be prominent in your year

ex. 3H siblings, 6H coworkers, 7H relationships & business partners

it’s important to note the SR chart ruler, aka ruler of the ascendant.

gemini & virgo by mercury

those are traditional rulers. for modern rulers, the only changes are scorpio by pluto, aquarius by uranus, pisces by neptune, and the rest are the same. again a preference thing, see what relates to you more

RETROGRADE PLANETS. planets that are more internally focused, need review & reflection, need to pay attention to

mercury rx – pay attention and review how you communicate and learn, process information gathered, how you transport (by car, train, etc)

venus rx – review how you love, your values, self-worth, how you indulge in pleasure

other planets take longer to go in retrogradation, so take notice when it changes direction in your SR chart (direct to retrograde/retrograde to direct)

timing

the sun stays in a sign for approximately a month. check the transitioning sun to see which house and sign its in, as well as the planets it conjuncts, to see when an event may occur

for example,

this (non-existent) person has their solar return birthday start when the sun transits into libra, making late september & early october the first month of their SR year

let’s say they SR saturn is in scorpio, which means they will encounter a karmic experience around the next month when sun transits into scorpio, especially when it conjuncts SR saturn

and it would be in regards to the area of life determined by the house that SR saturn is in. so 7H SR saturn = karmic lesson in relationship or business partnerships, 11H SR saturn = lesson in friend groups or social network

tips and resources

SOME TIPS THAT NOBODY ASKED FOR !!

reading a solar return chart is just similar to interpreting a natal chart. the more you learn and know about general astrology the easier it is to read a solar return chart

instead of changing the settings to generate a solar return chart everytime, create a natal chart using your solar return info so you can compare them to the transits and also make a synastry chart between your natal and SR charts (to see aspects easier)

look into past solar return charts to see in which way does the planets personally affect you

Astrology and my childhood and what I have found funny about it

So let's get into this. In advance I will be talking about my trauma but I will not go too much into detail about it since that feels weird. I figured I'd put this disclaimer because I know this shit isn't what everyone wants to read when they are researching astrology.

My moon squares my mars but my moon also opposes my mercury and my Venus to varying degrees of course. I have a Leo rising so my fourth house is in Scorpio while the two siblings I was raised with for most of my life have a Leo and a Gemini rising. If it helps I was raised with both my parents which I feel kinda lucky for when I think about it. Because considering my father was there to protect me and my sister from my mother's eccentric behavior when the time came. I do wish my brother got the same protection but that is for another time. Anyways I know I have intense mommy issues and maybe some daddy issues. There is no doubt that I am emotionally not the greatest but I feel like if I got it worse I would be even more fucked ya know? Now back to astrology.

My mother has a Sag sun, Aquarius moon, Scorpio mercury, Capricorn Venus, and a Aries mars. So it's always funny to read post that talk about how unemotional Aquarius moons are when my mother is one of the most emotional people I have met. I might as well include my dad's placements as well. He has a Pisces sun and mercury, a Taurus moon and mars, and then an Aries Venus. I'll rehash my placements real quick: Aries sun, mercury, and Venus. Virgo moon, Sag mars, and Leo rising. I was considered my mother's favorite and there is no doubt I did lean into it for my own self interest. I wouldn't say me and my mother were emotionally bonded like most mother and child dynamics go. I simply knew that if I had any emotional problem I would have to rely on myself or even my siblings as opposed to my mom. Nothing against my dad he just had his own problems going on already plus my mom would have gotten mad if I showed favoritism to my dad in any way. I do call it favoritism because it felt like that imo. I do love my dad without a doubt but my mom I'm not too sure of. It's more guilt that I don't love her but I know love isn't something you can force either it's one of those confusing things for me.

Anyways there are some interesting synastry aspects I wanted to talk about though. My dad's Pluto is conjunct my moon while it opposes my mercury. Whereas my Pluto is conjunct my mom's sun and sextile her moon. Her Pluto is opposite my mercury and Venus tho. Her Chiron is conjunct my sun almost to an exact. I'll post a part two since this will go on for a while. I'll post the link in this post (at the bottom) and on my masterlist. I might include a photo of our synastry aspects in that post as well idk tho. Anyways I find it interesting how Pluto acts in synastry but what's even funnier is how Saturn acts in synastry.

Personal planets wise my dad and I only have one Saturn aspect and it's my Saturn sextile his Venus while my mother have a good amount. There is no doubt she has a great effect on me (it's kinda hard to not). Anyways her Saturn is squared my moon, mercury, and Venus while it is also opposite my Chiron and sextile my mc. Then my Saturn is trine her Venus. Funnily enough my Pluto, Mars, and Ascendant is also trine her Chiron. I think some of them are great aspects to have but some feel odd to have with your own mother.

The planet of restrictions and the planet of transformation and obsession. I highlight both because of the difference in the aspects between my mother and father towards me, and the difference in dynamics. To a certain degree I can't be truly upset with how my childhood was because there are certain factors in it that make me sympathize with my parents especially. For instance, we were relatively poor considering we were on food stamps and my mother has mental illnesses. Apparently she has bipolar disorder along with PTSD but I can't exactly say in what way that explains or excuses her past behaviors. Plus she was unmedicated for the most part because she didn't feel great on the pills and she was suicidal at times so it was just better to overall have her unmedicated at that time in her life. Does that excuse her abusive tendencies? No and yet I can't help but wonder if certain things weren't the way they were, would my childhood have been different? Idk and I can't focus on the what ifs in this situation because realistically it does nothing for me in the end.

♡ Venus in the 7th house ♡

These couple usually views commitment as all or nothing, are you in or not? They have strong values about true love, and they will follow them. Love is viewed as a contract by their souls or hearts. If they break any aspect proposed, they know it's the end. They can be reflections of themselves either the good or the bad. When the contract is done, it's over. The Venusian sees the house person as a very stable being. They feel safe and prepared for them. These two may live together before the year of knowing each other romantically. The pair just feel ready when it's about commitment. The house natives perceive the Venusian as very "wife/husband" material for them. With this overlay, their personalities blend well and work together. It feels natural for both of you to be close and intimate together. For others is moving too fast, and for them is easy to become intimate with each other. The seventh house person fits well for the planet native. These two feel like it's a soulmate connection, very easy. You’re both drawn to please each other. It's a very strong connection for long-term relationships. It takes time for them to move on if they ever break up. If Venus has bad aspects, it can be a toxic relationship. ♡ Venus in the 8th house ♡

These two have a different kind of love. The Venusian feels like the house person bring something in them that they can explain. Sometimes, these people have taboos to share. Death has impact their lives. The house person may become obssess with the planet person. Sex isn't a way emerger together. Usually, they possess the same interest in taboo topics. In the beginning, Venus feels attracted to the house, but it's also scared of them. Their sexual energy is intense. The 8th house person wants to know the Venusian's secrets and fears. Both are possessive, but the house win the round. They detest when their partner don't respect them. Their relationship status will remain a secret for the public eye (in the beginning). They would share many things even traumas (if hardly aspected). The house native will protect the Planet from the world. Sex can be very intimate or aggressive (bsdm stuff). These people will not be the same they were when they met. For them, love is intense and transformational. The house feels that the Venus native is trustworthy, but they need to see their actions. These individuals perceive love as a new adventure and try to go with the flow. If they're mature, they prefer to maintain a very healthy relationship. Both prefer to travel and know about new places and cultures. Love is not as other say. They may prefer to do things their way. Venusian isn't instantly involve, but they see the house as interesting. For the house native, the planet is nice an attractive, but they will not force things. The house native could be older than the Venusian. The house person likes the planet manners and life vision the most. They see the commitment as an experience. Sometimes, marriage isn't obligatory requirement. They may enjoy walks, museum, and play board games. One could be from another country or have a different culture. Their relationship presents a new chapter in their lives and their families. Besides, they like to engage in intellectual debates, maybe they are into philosophy. Coworkers to lover vibes. They are comfy with being mature. Similarly to the previous combo, the house partner is the older one or has more experience. This partner also has more dominant energy. They could meet in different levels. The negative aspect is that they could be very nitpicking and too logical when it comes to love. The planet individual sees the house person as straightforward and mature. Partnership is very important is like a contract. If one of the part broke a part of the deal, it's done. They can work together or met during their carrer path (college, conference). They are straightforward and mature when approaching the other. If badly aspect, it could have a power imbalance (not good). Big egos over emotions, this is the start of arguments. They plan their dates. The planet person accepts that the house individual cares for their image and professional life. The Venusian isn't afraid of being a home stayed wife. Love depicts a friend to lover storyline where both care for dreams and humanity. It's very possible that they met when they were helping other people. The Venusian fits the house' s ideal type. They seem more friendlier than other couples. You wouldn't think they were dating. They prefer to joke around, but they love each other. The Venusian share the dreams the house native have for life. It's also likely that they like each other in the future, even if they met since birth. They prefer to have experience with love before settling down. Its common to see them as "I thought they were friends". The Venusian see the house person as humanitarian and very interesting. Stay protected because big family can be a thing. The must clarify about what is a family for both. The house perceives the planet native as beautiful and too much to some people. Together, they will form a very unique pair and family. Love is simple but blurry. They can't get confused in how they love. The house sees the Venusian see them as the real deal. The planet perceive the house native as too good for them. There are some blurry aspects that they don't understand. When this synastry happens, it can feel too blurry for outsiders. Sometimes, they feel as friends and others as partners. At times, they hide their feelings without realizing or because they don't want to hurt the other. The house may hide their crush for the planet (too well).
