InuYasha but only when Lord Sesshoumaru is on screen 55 - ep 192

Inuvember Day #6: Priestess Day, Spiritual Mossberg 500 shotgun edition.
MirSess for the ship rating? Genuinely curious LMAO
i'm going to be completely honest - i didn't even know this ship existed until i saw fanart for it.
MirSess is an interesting pairing solely due to the juxtaposition these two characters have. i don't think they've exchanged a single word throughout the manga (if i remember correctly), but it's fun thinking about how they would interact. miroku's...tendencies vs sesshomaru's no-nonsense attitude. miroku's flirtatious nature vs sesshomaru's placidity. they're opposites in pretty much every way. i don't even know how their relationship would begin or progress given that sesshomaru comes across the group sporadically, but i like the idea of miroku having this fleeting and reoccurring attraction to him. i think it's way more amusing if it's a desperate one-sided crush because miroku KNOWS he isn't getting shit from sesshomaru, and i like the idea of that making him kind of a desperate loser (at least, more than he already is with sango). like he gets an eye glance from sesshomaru and nudges inuyasha like "eh? eh? see what he just did?" and inuyasha's face is the equivalent of that one horrified turtle meme image.
i give it a 7/10 because miroku chasing after pretty people he can never have is funny no matter the AU.

Please give me his coolness and aloofness to face giant arachnids
Does it seem to anyone else like a lot of contemporary writers just don't trust the intelligence of their readers?? Because like. I've recently read three popular novels ("had to wait four months for my library hold to be fulfilled" kind of popular) by three different writers in three different genres, and every single one of them bread-crumbed conflict which they then instantly resolved. No space for the conflict to build and breathe, no space for it to accomplish anything in the story, no space for character growth or relationship development to occur in response to it.... just, hey, here's a conflict I laid some groundwork for, annnnnnd solved!!! In only three pages, baby!! Whoo! No need to fret! No need to sit with any discomfort!! It's already over!!!
Like. I'm sorry. I thought we were all here to watch a story unfold?? Not to be spoon fed mashed bananas like an itty bitty wittle baby? I don't understand the point of even introducing conflict that gets resolved within three pages. And that is not an exaggeration. In one of these novels, a potentially relationship-breaking interpersonal conflict happened between two main characters, and then literally three pages later it was all fixed. As if it hadn't happened at all. And it was never discussed again. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT???
To me this feels like writers not trusting me to stick with the story through discomfort, y'know? Like they think the second anything hard or worrying happens in the story, I'll bail immediately. Like they think I need to be constantly reassured that everything is going to be fine, like they're calming a fussing baby. As if I'm not here to enjoy a story unfolding.
I do not need to have food regurgitated into my mouth, actually. I am fully capable of chewing on the meat of the story. Just let the conflict actually matter. Let the characters feel and struggle with and respond to it. Stop treating me like I'm too stupid and fragile to engage with a real story.
ONLY 24 CHAPTERS FROM THE END!!!
I've been reading all day that today is supposed to be Sesshomaru's birthday too (?) I would've sworn that conventionally his birthday concided with the date of his manga debut... And it was in February if I'm not mistaken (?)
(Actually, no, it's not October the 10th anymore, so it's not "today", but still).
I just came to the conclusion that what I actually love about Rumiko's male characters is that mostly, either way, they are "lost". Ryoga of course first on the list, he is quite literally eternally lost somewhere, utterly incapable of orienting himself even in a fucking bathroom (blessed my child), but Inuyasha too, and Godai, and Sesshomaru as well (although unknowingly). I feel you guys so much, you can't understand.
Okay, since I went on reading the manga and my mind got captured by two panels from chapter 512 reminding me of this conversation, I couldn't stop thinking about it, so...

I don't think these words from Kagome are dictated by her insicurities for, at this stage, she's overcome all that since the Mount Azusa arc, so she is reliable.

It's true that the Jewel doesn't grant your wishes, actually it uses you for its evil purposes, but whatever was the entity listening to Kikyo's soul it did listen.
Anyway it is important to understand that this doesn't make Kagome's experience and her feelings for Inuyasha filtered in any way through Kikyo's, they still are two different and separate individuals, both Kagome and Kikyo (and Inuyasha too, and Kaede) say it openly. Unfortunately some people need more, need to draw a clearer line between the two, denying any connection between them, so as to make Kagome more important, more powerful, more this, more that, God, as if she needed that to be such, she IS the most powerful miko after Midoriko, she IS Inuyasha's true love, but can't you see that all this is true even acknowledging her as Kikyo's reincarnation?
Such a pity that because of some shitty childish ships war (fueled by Sunrise itself, that's for sure, I won't forgive their crimes, but it's not only that) we still can't have a serious unbiased discussion about so many aspects of Inuyasha.
Then it wouldn't matter if the opinion you put in words is right or wrong, plausible or not, at least you would be allowed to speak yourself and truly understand the point the other person is trying to make, for you don't need to be afraid to be attacked or ridiculed, so that you are able to wholly focus on the subject discussed alone.
you ever think about how all kikyo wanted was a normal life as a regular girl? how she just wanted to wear rogue on her lips and fall in love with boys, and the one time she lets herself do that she's killed for it? and how even when her soul is reincarnated, she is still denied that quiet, normal life? you ever think about kikyo?
New Inuyasha headcanon: people think Inuyasha is illiterate, but he actually can read (his mother taught him as a boy). He just goes along with it. Kagome is the first one to see through him as she caught him reading one of her textbooks when they first started traveling together.
THANK YOU RUMIKO FROM THE BOTTOM OF THIS MISERABLE HEART FOR INUYASHA YOU ACTUALLY CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF MY LIFE I CAN'T IMAGINE MY LIFE ANYMORE WITHOUT INUYASHA EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER (SECONDARY FIGURES AND EXTRAS INCLUDED) IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME
