I'm Now In My Manga/graphic Novel Reader Era. Not That I Didn't Read Manga Before But Now I'm Just Looking
I'm now in my manga/graphic novel reader era. Not that I didn't read manga before but now I'm just looking at my school library's comics and manga collection for some more to read.
(damn I'm soooo happy that my school has manga in an already amazing library, like, my previous school library had one or two cupboards of books worth reading and comics didn't exist thereš„¹)
What I read so far:
The Rose of Versailles
The Girl from the Sea (Molly Knox Ostertag)
The Prince and the Dressmaker (Jen Wang)
47 Ronin (the graphic novel)
And I plan on reading Strobe Edge soon :)
I only read the 2nd and 3rd graphic novel mentioned because I LOVE stories with plots that I usually don't see. I took the Girl from the Sea because I was pleasantly surprised to see a sapphic book in my (somewhat conservative) library. And the Prince and the Dressmaker is about a prince who loves crossdressing!

Can't believe I was made the pan ace, atheistic witch eldest daughter in a strict Indian Christian family, yes they're queerphobic and islamophobic, and obviously thinks witchcraft is blasphemy. I'm so sorry, we'll get through it.
Cant believe i was made the bisexual, Non-binary, communist eldest daughter in a conservative, right winged Indian Hindu family thats extremely homophobic and islamophobic... what crimes am i paying for!??
Another point I would like to add is- the reader's are literally reading the character's DIARY. Where the character writes about her thoughts and feelings regarding people. Most of the time in Nikki's actual interactions with others, she doesn't say all that stuff to people she actually cares about.
Nikki is not MacKenzie's bully. It is the other way around. Has Nikki done mean things? Yes. But I'm telling you, Dork Diaries Tiktok fandom, that Mackenzie Hollister has done way worse.
She locked people up in a fucking storage room locker. She tried to get people expelled. She constantly flirts with and comes on to a guy who shows literally no interest in her. She bullies people. Mackenzie Hollister is not the fucking victim of the series just because she met someone who was a bigger bully than her(Tiffany).
Nikki Maxwell, despite being a "I'm not like other girls!"girl, isn't a bully. She might say mean things in the heat of the moment, or she might do stupid shit, but she isn't a bully. Not like Mackenzie. Nikki might get overly annoyed with her family, she might have an attitude as well, and she sure as hell has communication issues, but guess what? She's 14 years old. She's going to be that way. I was her age once and let me tell you, we are all very annoying at that age.
I don't know. Maybe I'm ranting about the wrong things, but it's really fucking annoying seeing people on tiktok say that Mackenzie, a popular rich girl who constantly harasses and bullies others, is more of a victim than Nikki, a dork who comes from a middle class family and gets bullied relentlessly by the most popular girl in school.
Here my hand too
Wow everyone is going through it. Hold my hand
