Summary: Player is Carmen Sandiego's hacker, always. Even when he's stuck with this twisted, awful version of her and a bunch of VILE operatives.

Comments: I love the vibe of this story. Player will do anything for Carmen and you can feel it here, even as she exists at the edge of his own comfort zone. Her empathy is gone, but Carmen still feels possessive and it makes her exhibit a strange sense of protection over Player he doesn't always appreciate.

There’s a beat, Carmen wonders how quickly she can pick the doorknob’s lock but finding a pin in time would be more difficult… “I keep my word,” Player snaps, but truthfully, Carmen can read Player like a book, can hear just how much his voice really trembles,” Unlike you, traitor.”
