I Loooove This! My Personal Hc Is That (of Course All The Noldor And Feanorians Are Like This, Even In
I loooove this! My personal hc is that (of course all the Noldor and Feanorians are like this, even in war) when Mae and Mags were taking care of Elrond and Elros (I love the kidnap fam so much, they will always have a very special place in my heart) that they brought them both up to be fairly similar, which for Elros is one thing as king of the men as being half elf they expect him to be at least a little strange and elvish but for Elrond. Who is an elf. And is around other elves. Who remember. And knew. Of the Noldor. Specifically Feanorians. Who had this tradition... but of course Elrond, in hi slove for his family, will continue the tradition of loads of bling.
Of course when he marries Celebrian, who was of course raised by her parents, including Galadriel, who was a Noldor herself... basically their kids, and Arwen's kids (as ofc Aragorn isn't going to stop the bling fest) are spotted from miles away, from the glinting of the light from the silver and gold covering them head to toe.
However, I do believe that Elrond will sometimes tone it down, and only really tones it up to annoy people, and to remind them of the Noldor, as it isn't always practical wearing the usual Noldor amount.
There is no word for gaudy in Noldorin Quenya, the same way fish have no word for wet.
The Vanyar and Teleri have words for gaudy which translate roughly to “something a noldo would like.”

I'm really sorry, I always add my little twist to stuff like this but this is genius! I genuinely, wherever you are, am sending you as much happiness and joy as humanely possible! I was thinking the other day about how Mae is often associated with fire (in part due to his death ofc) and Mags with the sea and Celegorm earth, (the others I don't really think can be associated with a certain "element" in the same way without repeating) and how Feanor was ofc also fire (and does anyone else ever sympathise with him??? As in his spirit wise, and his just genuine love for making and knowing things??? Basically I see a lot of myself in a lot of them) and couldn't put my finger on it - but this is sooooo good!
When Mae dies - does Feanor then go to Maglor, despairing by the sea? Or, does he go to the next firey soul he knows to torment... maybe Sauron???
suddenly obsessed with the idea that ‘spirit of fire’ Fëanor and ‘after his torment upon Thangorodrim his spirit burned like a white fire within, and he was as one that returns from the dead’ Maedhros had a fusing. a union. part of the spirit that Míriel gave to Fëanor could not be still. could not rest. there was still too much of it. and Maedhros crying out in his torment, seeking comfort, company, a way out, was like a beacon for this spirit. and part of the white fire within, the return from the dead, is his father, who cannot, cannot die. so despite everything, he remains, and more than just the oath of Fëanor, Maedhros is also actively haunted by him
If The Silmarillion was a Jane Austen novel, I think it'd be called Immortality & Immorality
Celegorm to Maglor and Maedhros: You two behave so like Ammë and Atya sometimes, it’s ridiculous, we’re grown adults
Maglor:……. Which one of us is Ammë
Caranthir: Well Nelyo obviously
Maglor: Ha!
Caranthir: Maedhros thinks things through and is half way competent. Like Ammë. Whereas you are a delusional, melodramatic, pompous asshole. You know, like Atya.
I absolutely love this - if you don't mind me adding my own hc to this: With all of his children (though specifically the first three) he would spend time getting to know at least a little bit more than the average person would (but let's be real here its Feanor he would probably try and find as much as possible) so that he could talk with his sons on these subjects, and wouldn't be (as) lost as most other elves would be whenever they discuss their interests/infodump
I also love the idea that they all infodump, all the time? At least before the whole silmarill debacle, they would do things together and cared about each others interests not just because of the interests, but also just to support each other in that way. :)

Learning Together
Head Canon: When Feanor first realized that Celegorm was very fond of animals he spent weeks learning all he could about them, as they were not his area of expertise, simply so he had something to bond with his third son over.
