I Totally Agree With You Regarding JKs Solo Area, And It Makes Me A Bit Sad Because I Had Been Waiting
I totally agree with you regarding JK’s solo area, and it makes me a bit sad because I had been waiting for his first solo album for years. Now that his promo has ended, I realize nothing about it has got me truly excited. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it. For the most part I found it underwhelming. I haven’t been able to watch today’s concert yet though, I was busy at work unfortunately so I’ll try to catch up soon but it’s less fun not watching it in real time.
About GCF, to me it almost felt like watching a random YouTuber’s vlog and I find that meh. The whole point of GCF for me was that it was JK’s doing the editing on top of the filming but something is lacking now. It’s like they stripped GCF of its substance, as you said it could have been labeled as a Bangtan Vlog and I wouldn’t really have seen a difference. What I was expecting for this solo is to see the world through JK’s eyes and it hasn’t happened unfortunately. But I’m hopeful he’ll grow as an artist and come back with something more personal in the future. That being said he’s an amazing singer, his voice was really what stand out to me in this area!
Thank you anon! It's nice to know I'm not the only one! I've felt just so CONFLICTED this era. I YEARNED for JKs music for so long and now that we have it....hmmmm...I'm reminded why I try not to have expectations.
I honestly don't know if I'd feel better if I actively disliked everything so far because at least that would mean I felt SOMETHING about it all. It's just been so....meh.
Oh well, maybe when there's not so much 'pressure' and 'expectation' on him, we'll get more of what we've had a taste of.
Honestly, this whole GCF issue very likely just has a root cause of time. They clearly wanted it to release when it did but he's had a very full schedule and wasn't able to get the footage he usually would have or spend the time editing. I do wonder if he got the edit started though. The beginning is very much his style.

STANDING NEXT TO YOU (Usher Remix) REACTION

Listen to it first if you haven't yet:
OK, I really don't want to be a blog that just crashed on everything JK releases, but I do just have one tiny point to share about this Remix. Overall, I don't hate it or live it; it's just very benign in the context of remixes we've gotten this year and I still don't care for SNTY at all but not enough to hate it.
This Remix highlighted something for me that I only had hints of with the JT 3D Remix. Obviously a LOT of GOLDEN album was an homage to Michael Jackson and I honestly believe that Usher is the closest they could get to a current artist that most embodies that style...so cue the Remix. Just like we had JT on 3D which was a song CLEARLY in his style.
The thing is, when they incorporate the artist that was the inspiration of an homage...it feels just wrong to me. A little like when you have to explain the punchline to a joke. Like we GOT it, we didn't need any handholding. Is it just me that feels this way??
Okay, that's my one point. I do foresee that the same kind of ppl that enjoyed the JT Remix will love this one too. I don't mind hearing it but I think it's more out of fatigue than anything; I'm just sick of being disappointed by JKs work this year

Synopsis: Various traditional activities and games for the Chuseok holiday
Production: So, I do think this episode is OVERALL produced well...just not necessarily understandable for the international audience. There are some explanations of how the activities work but it's really not the greatest. And the way it's executed hasn't really sparked the curiosity to learn more and fill the knowledge gaep. I understand them now but that knowledge was hard won.
Endearment: The guys' personalities completely carry the episode for those that don't understand the games and this is SO much more successful than the board games in the previous episode. I think it's because the guys are more confident in the games and the space themselves.
Winner: none
Loser: YG, V
Best Cheater: none
Member Moments:
RM: Namjoon - THE GOD OF DESTRUCTION - insisting to carefully fold that newspaper square back together...
JN: Jin falling into the camera director after spinning!
YG: I've said it before and I'll say it again but Yoongi's playfully competitive personality is just so adorable!
JH: Congrats on beating JK at a creative contest!!
JM: I LOVE seeing Jimin when is comes to crafts and creation. He just gets so precious.
V: Poor Tae, he sure had a roller coaster of emotions with these games.
JK: Of course JK excells in the flippers. He's J-KaaaAAAaayyy!
Bonus Content: I love seeing glimpses of the members being curious with the cameras and production equipment.

Putting this together to share with @aspec-kpop :
Anyone else here get this as part of their Spotify Wrapped? I don't think I'm one to go looking for things that are offensive but this one just made me a little sad. I get that it's supposed to just be a cute little throwaway comment but what does the word Romantic have to do with the fact that I enjoy music from more than one artist?

This has been part of conversations that I've been having with a few ppl here in recent weeks, but I'm only in a tiny kpop corner of tumblr. I'm curious though if y'all are experiencing the same thing we have been?
I guess I expect more from those I interact with here since there needs to be some baseline level of humility to be willing to engage in content outside of your culture? There are definitely some great individuals with whom I've has wonderful conversations but it's just that much more disheartening when I have an expectation of being understood..you know?
Anyway, tagging @aspec-kpop to let any of you know that if you're having similar experiences, you're not alone.
Queerness is not just about sex and romance. Since the concept of queer has been around, so have asexual and aromantic people. Lavender marriages, voluntary spinsters, vows of chastity used to cover a disinterest in sex. “Monosexuals”, “anesthesia sexual”, “anaphrodites”, category "X". Queer-platonic relationships, asexuality and aromanticism are an undeniable part of lgbtq+ history. Before there were any terms, any flags or acronyms, choosing to not conform to society’s romantic and sexual guidelines has been the very essence of queerness. The inherent queer experience of feeling alienated because you don’t love the “right” way or feel the right feelings for the right people, of trying to meet the expectations set for you while trying to build a life that doesn’t feel like a lie. These are all part of the aspec experience. We aren’t “invading” a space we don’t belong because it’s a trend, or an internet identity. We’re not “spicy straight”. We’re making ourselves known in a community we have always been a part of.
