Wish I could be a fan of things that are both good all the way through AND have a consistent release schedule. ASoIaF: good, inconsistent release schedule, might never be finished. When They Cry series: good, most recent installment has been on hiatus for years and now the writer is dedicating his time to writing a silent hill game (which is a huge W for me actually but Ciconia hiatus is killing me). Agents of Shield: complete so release schedule is irrelevant but it got bad during the 5th season after the first 4 were incredible. RWBY: inconsistent release schedule, will probably never finish, AND it’s bad

I want to make a post compiling the things I think are fair vs unfair to criticize Dany for but it’d probably be like a hitting a bees nest from both sides

Being a fan of Umineko is also hard because like. You have to warn people that hey it’s gothic horror it does feature incest and sexual violence but it’s handled respectfully. But also you have to contend with the creator’s leotard fetish. And if you choose to read the manga instead of the visual novel (which I did) some of the drawings are really eyebrow raising including those of a character who is an ageless nonhuman who stopped maturing when her creator died and thus looks like a child. And there’s this other supposedly adult character who looks like a child and she’s a sadist who jokes about “mind rape” and it’s really tasteless. And the main character jokes about groping his cousins’ boobs. More than once. But no I swear the actual incest and sexual violence is treated with respect I swear you have to trust me hey listen plEA

But like actually it’s so strange to me that this man wrote a story that treats sexual violence with appropriate respect and gravity but at the same time threw in a thousand year old little girl who wears a leotard

George did NAWT write “it was her 14th name day” for y’all to say he sees Drogo and Dany as romantic while defending the age gap between Rhaegar and Lyanna. It is so so obvious that Dany was deeply traumatized by her marriage to Drogo and reacted to the trauma by romanticizing and reframing it both during and after the experience. Like I don’t think Rhaegar kidnapped an unwilling Lyanna but I also don’t think George intended for us to look at their situation uncritically he didn’t write about a ton of teenage girls dying in childbirth, with husbands much older than they are, for the sake of historical accuracy alone. I think George intentionally gives us two contradictory images of Rhaegar: the evil kidnapper who locked Lyanna away and the tortured-soul hero who truly loved Lyanna and did everything he could for her and I came to the understanding that the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Sometimes I see a cool post but I just cannot reblog due to the face claim like you all know that Anya Taylor-Joy as Daenerys fills me with incandescent rage but this time it was an Asha Greyjoy with a tiny button nose like please let my girl have her nose
