I think DC should do more with the concept of the yellow rings. I want them to be the complete opposite of willpower.
A green lantern ring chooses you, what if a yellow lantern ring haunted you?
There's no flashy lights. No "you've been chosen." You just find a ring on your finger one day. That unsettles you, so you take it off. Maybe you keep it, maybe you throw it away.
Either way, it's resting on your pillow as you wake up. This time, you really do throw it away.
It's too late, though. You start hearing whispers that aren't there. You become more hostile to your friends and family because you are so paranoid. They're hiding something from you. They never actually loved you. Those little fears and insecurities everyone has build up into a chorus screaming at you. You are alone.
You find the ring on your finger again one day. You don't take it off. It speaks to you, tells you that it can weaponize those voices and use it on those that hurt you. You accept, because you're too far gone to realize no one has actually betrayed you. The possession is complete. Sinestro welcomes you home.
