If There's One Thing I'd Like To Add To My Artistic Repertoire, It's 3D Modelling. So Over The Past Week,

A 3D render of a blocky wrench, with embedded parts glowing orange and green with other glows highlighting a hole at the back and the dark-grey curved jaw at the front. Ica (a sand-blue robot with dark-blue tube limbs) stares in awe, saying "Wow, sweet!"

If there's one thing I'd like to add to my artistic repertoire, it's 3D modelling. So over the past week, I decided to work away with completing a full 3D model in Blender—and my choice for modelling was the wrench Ica wields (Partly to make it easier to draw it at various angles in later art). For a first go at modelling from start to finish, I'd say it turned out pretty well, and Ica thinks so too! The main thing I'd say I learned from this is to trust the scale—I resized the guide image I made to 3 times its size when modelling, and when putting it into Clip Studio Modeler I had to shrink it down a lot to be of a more reasonable size. But hey, now I know for next time!

The same wrench model as above has been put through a Subdivision Surface modifier, making it look noticeably rounder and smoother. Ica is more appalled by this version of his beloved wrench, yelling out "What the ████!?" (The last word of his exclamation is left to your discretion.)

And as for fun, I looked to see how it looked with a subdiv modifier, and it looked kind of amusing—though he was a lot less appreciative of this version. I've made a timelapse of the model being made, though it's not been edited down yet. But for the moment I can offer up Ica's reaction shots, separate from the renders!

(For those curious, the gradient on Ica's censor bleep goes from #667563 to #6B213F. As for why I made it those colors... Try messing around with them, in that order.)

Behold, The Majesty Of Clay!

Behold, the majesty of clay!

Behold, The Majesty Of Clay!

The original was made during a visit to my counselor, I did the best I could with the available clay colors. There's a sort of charm to the mittens on the ends of floppy wires, isn't there? Maybe one day there'll be a Ghostie plush that looks like this...

Here's Some Old Fanart I Drew Of A Little Indie Game Called Grimm's Hollow, Made Around When A Friend

Here's some old fanart I drew of a little indie game called Grimm's Hollow, made around when a friend of mine streamed it via Discord. Needless to say, by the end of it all of us were in tears. Not a game I would be able to stand playing myself, but one worth experiencing all the same.
