Keeping the LoA train going, back in 2019, Life of Agony released another concept album, titles The Sound of Scars, it being a sequel to their debut album River Runs Red. As some may or may not be able to guess, as a sequel to an a concept album exploring themes of abuse, alcoholism and abandonment, the themes of this album are related to trauma recovery and healing.

Darksiders and Hades crossover!

What if the Horsemen were somehow summoned in the Underworld and encountered Zagreus, who is once again attempting to escape?

Had a lot of fun drawing in this style, despite the inconveniences that happened inbetween! War is by far the hardest to draw in my opinion, so starting with him was kind of a test to see if I was up for the challenge. I'm really proud of the end result :)

Darksiders as a series has a handful of major inspirations for its design. Ranging from specific series like The Legend of Zelda to more general genres, such as twin-stick shooters and isometric dungeon crawlers. The latter two being what primarily makes up Darksiders Genesis.  Genesis is an interesting point to the Darksiders series, it’s gameplay style is quite different to the other games, those being behind-the-back-camera action games. Another point of interest with DsG is when in the Darksiders timeline the game takes place. It being at least a couple thousand years in the past highly sets it’s story apart from the others, exploring a point the history the Four Horsemen that we may have gotten bits and pieces about from the other games, it still was, and even still is, a part of the timeline that has a lot of potential for character building and exploration.

I bring this up to speak about how while Darksiders has obvious roots, it’s still a series that can be quite malleable to other styles and/or genres. One genre of games that I feel Darksiders could potentially work in is the roguelike/roguelite genre. Just imagine a game where you can play as Death and/or Fury, preferably set in the more open parts of the timeline, where you have to fight through a labyrinth of dangerous traps and creatures, sent there on a mission by the Charred Council because a rogue group of angels is looking to upset The Balance.

While it would be cool to see the people that work on and make Darksiders do something like this, I don’t doubt it’s a bit more on the unlikely side. This is just an idea that I felt like putting out there and I wouldn’t mind hearing the opinions of others on this.
