you're hearing jimin, but you're not really hearing him, as he calls out for you again, voice fluctuating as he pokes his head around the apartment. his brows are furrowed, chewing on his lower lip with the faintest hint of worry snaking into his chest at your continued silence. it's only when he reaches the bedroom and catches sight of you through the ajar bathroom door that he's sure you're actually home.

for one horrifying moment, he thinks you've fallen down, hurt yourself (again). but as he pushes the door open, he sees your tear-stained cheeks, puffy eyes, and he puts two and two together — you're not injured, but you're certainly in pain.

soft brown eyes gaze at you for a moment, and then he's lying himself down beside you with a quiet groan. "uff."

a few moments of silence pass. you glance at him once, out of the corner of your eyes — he sees it, even though both of you are staring straight up at the ceiling tiles.

eventually, jimin speaks, voice smooth in the quiet. "so... why are we lying on the bathroom floor, baby?"

you sniff once, speaking with a watery voice. "uhh. sleepy?"

"well," he says mildly. "we have a bed for that. what's the real reason?"

"don't know." your two, short words jump out immediately.

jimin hums, considers for a moment. "i... don't believe that."

more tears burn at your eyes, and you swallow thickly. "i know."

"we don't have to talk about it now," he offers, rolling onto his side to face you, even when you don't reciprocate the action. reaching out with his thumb, he carefully, delicately wipes away the traitorous tear that has leaked out from the corner of your eyelids — you don't even realise it's there until he's brushing it away, and continue to stare determinedly at the ceiling.

"tomorrow?" your voice comes out small, your face leaning into his touch.

"whenever you want," he assures softly, before asking. "do you want a hug?"

"please." you answer before he's even finished the question, desperation leaking into your voice when you finally face him with tearful eyes and scoot closer. jimin wastes no time in pulling you against him, smoothing your hair with a careful hand, murmuring sweetly against the crown of your head, pressing kisses to your forehead, your temple, everywhere he can reach.

"my baby," he comforts, rubbing soothing circles on the small of your back. "you're okay. i've got you. always. you know that, don't you?"

you sniffle, face buried in the crook of his neck. "i know."

"that's my girl." another kiss to your forehead, as he starts lifting you upward. "alright. let's go to bed, my love."

"why?" your whine is muffled by his t-shirt when he lifts you up into his arms.

unashamed, jimin admits it: "there's a spider on the ceiling. it's freaking me out."
