one thing that NEVER fails to crack me up about the lightning thief is how everyone is like oh haha percy is so SLOW on the uptake, but it’s ABSOLUTELY not his fault nobody explains SHIT to him lol
Jason getting his mind wiped and as he recovers his memories and mixes them in with these new experiences, he finds himself slowly coming to terms with what he wants out of life. This isn't it. It never was. He isn't sure but he's working on it.
And just as he begins to narrow it down, he dies.
After all, that's all a pawn is really used for, right? Rushing the battlefield and dying for the cause that created them. They're not allowed to have hopes, dreams, goals. They're not allowed to be people. They're only ever allowed to move forward on orders.
And when was he ever a person allowed to take his own steps?
Frank: This is such a bad idea.
