I’m gonna rant for a moment, but I am really struggling with the current AI soundclip trend, particularly when I’m seeing clips attributed to actors, real life human beings, rather than the characters they’ve played.

How is an AI generated sound clip of someone saying sexual things any different from one of those deepfake porn clips, where you see an AI copy of a celeb “performing”?

How long until someone makes a clip of a celebrity “saying” something offensive or sexual, and it’s used to cancel them, blackmail them, and/or cause them serious stress and harm?

I get that everyone’s caught in the hype and thinking it’s just a bit of fun, but seeing someone posting “Joe” AI clips of “him” saying sexual things is so unbelievably gross and intrusive. Imagine if someone had used your voice or likeness for that purpose, wouldn’t you feel sick about it?

Making AI clips of real people just seems to cross a very clear line for me. Don’t put words in someone else’s mouth, especially if those words could be turned against them.
