Steve: Eddie put your hand down

Eddie, panicking: please i need help i’ve been bitten by a wolf!

Steve: oh my gosh, where?

Eddie: no, the normal kind!

Eddie is already about halfway up when he realizes Steve isn’t following him. 

Eddie plants himself on a branch and looks down at Steve who is staring up at him. “Come on Stevie! The view is awesome up here.” 

Steve eyes the tree carefully. “Are you sure this is safe Eds?” 

“You have climbed a tree before haven’t you?” 

Steve rolls his eyes. “Yes. But that was before I started a collection of concussions.” 

Eddie sighs. Steve has a point. If he falls and hits his head that is not good news. 

“Want me to come down and help? Follow behind you to make sure you’re safe?” 

Steve swallows but then nods tentatively. 

Eddie grins and immediately starts making his way back down, jumping off the final branch and landing on his feet. He spots Steve as he makes his way up one branch at a time. They stop when they near the top, both catching their breath as they overlook the park. 

“Wow. You were right, the view is pretty awesome up here.” 

Eddie isn’t even looking at the view anymore, all he is doing is looking at Steve and smiling fondly. “Sure is.” 

Steve turns to face him, offering a sweet smile in return. They rest their backs against the trunk as they share a cigarette, talking about everything and nothing all at once. Once the sun begins to set, they reluctantly make their way back down. Steve grins as he softly bumps Eddie’s shoulder with his own, their hands brushing against each other. 

Eddie decides to be brave and tangles their fingers together. No one is around now that it’s getting dark to see, so he takes his shot. Steve looks down at their hands for a second before squeezing Eddie’s in his own. They both giggle and make the short walk back to Eddie’s trailer. 

Whatever it is they have, it’s good. 

Steve: oh look, we're under a mistletoe!

Eddie, looking up: Steve, that's not a mistletoe.

(Later that night)

Eddie suddenly waking up at 3am: oh my god he was flirting with me!
