A Gryffindor's Grief

It was forbidden love, really.

Those little moments of not-so-accidental touches, stealing glances, and discreet smiles sent each other's way were your means of communicating with each other.

James Fleamont Potter, a Gryffindor boy that was absolutely smitten with You; Slytherin's Princess.

An odd combination that would only lead to chaos.

Being one of the sacred twenty-eight wizarding families meant that you command power and respect from everyone you meet— intentionally or unintentionally. The idea about blood purity, power, and influence was already in your mind as soon as you were able to grasp things your toddler brain could handle.

You were taught to only mingle with pure-blood families, people who could be useful and loyal to you, and those with power, influence, and wealth. Your family’s distaste for muggles and muggleborns were also ingrained into your mind, as if they programmed you to believe what they believed in. It wasn’t that hard, after all you were surrounded by rich witches and wizards who are blood supremacists.

For someone who grew up with those ideals and values, you thought it was right. Although, your belief came tumbling down the longer you spend time at Hogwarts and got to know James Potter and the rest of the Marauders.

James, he made you feel alive.

It felt as if he was the breath of fresh air that you never knew you needed. Away from that suffocating Malfoy Manor, the scrutinizing gazes of your family, and away from rich pure blood problems. Being with him felt exhilarating, he was the buzz in your life. James brought so much joy into your dark, lavish, and empty lifestyle.

It was quite funny, picturing him as your knight in shining armor, whisking you away from your pretty, gold cage.

"Malfoy!" Evan Rosier, a pure-blooded Slytherin raised his hand in your direction, motioning you to come over and sit beside him during breakfast in the great hall. Cold eyes like Lucius Malfoy's travelled in his direction, a questioning brow raised.

"Rosier, you are being too loud." She commented, walking, and sitting next to him before greeting the person beside him, Regulus Black.

"Good morning, Regulus."

"Good morning, Y/n."

Barty Crouch Jr. looked up from his meal and snickered at the both of you. "Good morning, Mum and Dad." He teased, greeting you both as Evan laughed along with the other Slytherins near them. Heck even Severus has a small smirk planted on his face. "If you wish to make your family line extinct, then please feel free to continue with your remarks, Crouch."

He smirked, putting his hands up in mock surrender "Just kidding, Y/n. Geez. Rough summer, I suppose?"

You felt your lips press into a thin line, an obvious answer to the question; It was horrendous.

Evan’s laughter slowly dies, he shakes his head, “Give her a break mate, she just got the biggest news of her life during summer. Isn’t that right Y/n-“

“Shut your mouth Rosier if you do not want to be hexed into next month.” Her empty threat really doesn’t do damage to Evan, he just shrugged, taking it as a warning that you’re not in the mood for jokes.

Your father, Abraxas Malfoy and older brother, Lucius Malfoy made a huge decision for your future. Hearing rumors here and there about their Slytherin Princess being romantically involved with a blood traitor in Gryffindor enraged your father, Abraxas. That will certainly not do, they will not sit idly and watch as the Malfoy name be... tainted with those rumors.

You remember how you felt dread entering your system, fighting the urge to run and throw up as you mustered up a façade, “Those are just baseless rumors, a plot to ruin my image in school." You held your head high, praying they do not see the truth.

Abraxas stared at you, his daughter, with a monotone expression. "Your brother and I do not care whether those ridiculous rumors are true or not." Lucius nods, agreeing. What a lie. You know your family well enough to not believe what comes out of their mouths in situations like this.

"We do not care if you had relations with the boy, even though it is rumored that he is a blood traitor, you knew well enough not to fool around with mudbloods. Well done, Y/n. Perhaps you could change his views, get him to join our cause.” Lucius looked at you. You could press your lips into a thin line, trying to find an answer.

“That tactless boy's role is to only be a bed warmer for you, remember that Y/n." Your father stood from the chair he sat in the drawing room. Slowly walking towards you. “Although, I suppose it ends now. I heard Lady Walburga Black is looking for a potential bride to their heir, Regulus Black.”

After a week, it was official; You are to be wedded to Regulus Black, your friend, Sirius’ brother.

You could not do anything about the arrangement, what fight would you have put up? A young girl like you, who does not have any power, influence, and wealth could only suck it up and accept.

How you wish it was James you were betrothed to.

“James, you came.” You breathed out, seeing him take off the invisibility cloak. The moonlight in the astronomy tower complimented his features, he offered a small smile sitting beside you.

The stakes were high, you were sure underlings of your brother (and possibly father) in the school have their eyes trained to you as you enter another year in Hogwarts. You would need to find new ways to meet up with your lover. Regulus’ eyes discreetly looked towards James, who is undeniably looking at you.

“Wouldn’t want for my girl to be alone, you know?”

He joked, intertwining his finger with you, a second nature to the both of you. Squeezing his hand, you softly looked at him. “I missed you, pothead.” He leaned towards your face, kissing you on the forehead. One of the things he does that never fails to make you feel flustered. “I missed you too, love.” You rolled her eyes, slightly shoving him playfully, “Stop being sappy, Pothead.”

“You secretly like it, love. You can’t lie to me.” He grinned, although the last sentence made you tense up. James shot you a concerned look, noticing your body language. “Something wrong, love?” You were torn, deciding on whether you tell him about the engagement rather than keeping quiet and leaving him in the dark about your current situation.

“I got engaged.” Before you could even stop yourself, the words flew out of your mouth. Shit. It wasn’t how she planned to tell him. The light atmosphere suddenly became dark and heavy. You can feel James turn rigid, freezing up as he muttered. “So, it was true, huh?” He scoffed bitterly, hurt overtaking his features. “James…” You gently called, carefully placing a hand on his shoulder. He flinched, turning his body away from you.

She tried to ignore the hurt she felt, pushing it down as she understood why James was acting this way.  “Sirius told me.” He choked out, still not looking at you. James really does know you well, answering the question you haven’t even voiced out yet. The slight tremble in his voice made your heart crack. You bit your lip, of course Sirius found out; he was still a Black after all.

“I love you, James. I really do.”

You spoke to him, you raised your hand, about to put a hand on his back that was still facing you but deciding against it before it touched him. Your hands faltering before dropping down to your sides. He shakes his head violently, his curly locks getting messier than they already were.

“Don’t… Don’t say it like that, love.” He pleaded, slowly turning to face you again, eyes glistening with unshed tears. “Don’t say it like you’re about to leave me. This. Us.” He croaked; you felt his large hands placed on top of yours. He brought it up to his lips, kissing the knuckles.

“James…” You managed to utter out, voice getting caught at the throat.

James knew he was acting like a child, but damn- he never thought it could hurt this much. He pictured both of you marrying each other, living in a large house with a big backyard because he insisted it will be great for when you have kids. Merlin, he even imagined about 3 or 4 kids looking like the perfect mix of you both, running out and about with their names already carefully thought out.

out. He daydreamed that the both of you grow old, watching you tell stories to your grandkids about their grandfather’s mischief during your years at Hogwarts.

“I have to, James.” She chokes out, tears spilling onto her cheeks. Those four little words made James’ little bubble of happiness burst with just a bat of an eye.

“Don’t… don’t do this to me, love.” He pleaded; he even went down onto his knees as he saw you standing up from your place beside him. Poor James, luckily it was only you, the moon, and the walls of the Astronomy Tower watched him become a wreck.

“I love you, please remember that you will always have my heart, James. I wish you find happiness.” The part ‘without me’ was unsaid but was heard. It took a lot of courage, strength, and self-control not to fall apart. Deep down, you wanted James to say the same to you, proclaiming his love again for the last time you’ll be together.

“I love you Y/n, so much. No one will ever make me feel the way you did. I’ll find a way; a way for us to be happy together. I swear on my life.” He promised, looking at you straight in the eye. You could only close your eyes before smiling at him, trying to blink the tears away. Stars, you hoped James really does find a way.

“Goodbye, Potter.” She turns, walking away.

Maybe Slytherins and Gryffindors really aren’t meant to be together.

Danger Meter [6]

"It's been an honor flying with you."

Maverick scanned the Naval Aviators infront of him. "Each of you represents the best of the best. This is a very specific mission." Out of the corner of your eye you saw Hangman look at Maverick, smiling. You already knew he thinks he'll be picked for the mission.

To say you are nervous is beyond an understatement. You think you're gonna puke, pass out, and faint at the same time worrying about your friends.

"My choice is a reflection of that and nothing more." Maverick said, "Choose your two foxtrot teams." You hear Vice Admiral Simpson tell to Maverick.

"Payback and Fanboy."

"Pheonix and Bob." You slightly perked up, half of you is happy to know that they got picked and that the topgun instructor realized their potential, but the other half is scared to death for them.

"And your wingman."

You saw Rooster beside you look down, you can already tell he's not confident he'll get picked. Every second maverick was silent had you growing nervous. You can tell he's conflicted, his eyes drifting back and forth from Rooster and Hangman.

"Rooster." You felt your breath hitch as you looked beside you. Rooster slowly looked up at Maverick.

"The rest of you will stand by the carrier for any reserve role that is required. Dismissed" Warlock announced, you walked over to Pheonix and Bob, uttering out words of encouragement before running off to find Bradley.

"Rooster." You called out, he stopped and turned to look towards you. Jogging to him, you gave him a smile. "You can do it." He nods, a small smile of his own forming on his face. "Thanks for believeing in me, Crash."

"I uh.. want to give you something." You smiled nervously, Rooster's eyebrows rose up in surprise.

"What is it, Crash?" Your hands went straight to your neck as you unclasped your necklace. He never noticed the jewelry, probably because it was tucked under your shirt most of the time.

"This, I want to give it to you. My lucky charm, I like to think this necklace is the reason why I'm always safe, even if I had to eject out multiple times in my career." You chuckled, staring at the silver paper airplane shaped pendant on your palm.

Rooster shaked his head, looking at the piece of jewelry that mean so much to you."Oh no no.. I can't take it, Crash. It's yours." You smiled, "Okay then, just borrow it. You can give it back to me when you come home." He bit his lip, contemplating on wether he sould accept or not.

"I want you to be safe, Rooster. I gave Bob a plane keychain too, it keeps him safe, he said. So you know, it's legit." You laughed, Rooster let out a smile as he stared at you. Without much thought, you grabbed his hand, palms facing up as you placed your necklace in it. You rolled his finger down his palm, closing and squeezing it.

That's when you both felt it.

When you touched his hand, a warm, comforting feeling was felt through the both of your marks. You can also see the some of the light peeking through the sleeve of your uniform. You stilled, trying to calm your racing heart. Did that just happen?

Rooster felt his breath got knocked out his lungs, a warm feeling was felt in his mark then travelled to his heart, filling his chest with warmth. He can see the glow of his mark.

You're his. You're his soulmate.

"I-i'll see you around, rooster!" You yelled, taking off, you couldn't hear his scream for you to come back as you tried to let what happened earlier sink in.

Your soulmate, Bradley bradshaw.

He's about to enter the most dangerous task in his entire career. On his mind, he can only think of one thing. You. He has to get home safe.

He will come back. He has to. For you.

You can feel a flurry of emotions in you. There it is, you found out your answer. He's your soulmate. He's yours.

You only then realized the heaviness of your situation. He's assigned to be the wingman in a dangerous mission, one that has a probability of him not coming back home. You felt your knees weakening.

You willed yourself not to break down until you get to your room. You felt your knees collapsed at the hard floor as you cried.

"Crash, what's wrong?" You headr Pheonix behind the door as she knocked frantically, "N-Nothing."

"Bullshit. I'm coming in." You heard the door open and you felt Pheonix engulf you in a hug. "What's wrong?"

"M-my soulmate.. Rooster.." You hiccuped, you can feel Pheonix tense up, "When did you.."

"Just now.." Pheonix rubbed your back, mind already going to worst case scenario judging by your reaction. "Do I need to beat him up?"

"N-no.. I'm just.. scared." Her eyes softened,

"Why? Rooster's a great guy. You don't have to worry."

You shaked your head, "I-I'm scared for him.. for all of you.." You sputtered out, she frowned, knowing what you mean. "He needs to focus on the mission, he can't have this soulmate thing distracting him.. that's why I ran away." You mumbled, Pheonix sighed.

"You do realize he's gonna go insane with you running away, right?"

"I don't even know if he noticed."

"Everyone can feel it. Anyone can feel their soulmate's touch, it's an experience you can't forget."

Danger Meter [6]

Rooster felt his heart break into two.

It seems like he can't move, his feet planted firmly on the ground as he watched your figure dissappear when you ran far enough.

Was he not good enough?

Did you suddenly realized you don't want him as your soulmate?

But then, why did you gave him your necklace?

He can feel himself clutching onto it, gripping onto the necklace so tight so that no one can take it away. It feels like that it's only thing that keeps him from going insane. He knows you care about him, but as what? As a friend?

He knew that you felt it too, there's no denying it. Yet, you ran away.

He can feel himself plop down in a sitting position at the ground, his hand slowly opening to reveal your necklace.

"Am I not good enough for you?" He rasped out, voice wavering as he tried to keep his emotions at bay.

"Bradshaw."

Rooster didn't even bother to turn and look at him. "Not now, Hangman." He couldn't bear to see the smug look pf Hangman.

"Bradshaw, whatever you're thinking right now-"

"Stop acting like you're comforting me, Hangman. I hope your happy." He spat out venoumously as he stood up. Hangman grabbed his wrist.

"Look, knowing Crash, she's probably worrying about you and she's trying to prevent you from getting distracted-"

"What? Does she think that I'll be able to focus on the damn mission if she runs away from me?" He looks at Hangman, "I feel like I was gonna die when she ran away.." Tears sprang onto his eyes.

This is the time Jake knew that Rooster is serious about you. Sure, he felt like a dick, being an obstacle to both you and Rooster but he did that because he wants to know if Bradley is serious about you or not. So to let his fellow naval aviator know that he supports the both of them, he pushed Rooster.

"Go get your girl, Bradshaw."

Bradley looks at him, taken aback by his actions. "Whatcha waitin for?" Jake raised his eyebrows.

That's all the needed push for Rooster as he ran towards where you're staying.

Danger Meter [6]

"Rooster." Pheonix opened the door, shocked that he's infront of your room. "You're not supposed to be here, you know. Male and females are not allowed to be in the opposite gender's quarters."

"I know, I know. Can I please talk to Y/n?" He pleaded. Pheonix looked at the hallways before pulling him inside and shutting the door. "She's asleep." Rooster deflated at her word. "If you want to see her, go." Mumbling 'thanks' to Pheonix, he went straight to your bed, he can hear Pheonix leave, giving him privacy.

"Y/n.." Rooster looked at your face, dried tear marks evident in your cheeks as you slept soundly. He gingerly took your hands into his as he sat down on the side of your bed.

"I know you're sleeping, but I have to say it. Give me a chance, Y/n. Give me the chance to prove myself to you, even if I have to spend the rest of my life doing that." He whispered, voice wavering as he ghosted his thumb over your knuckles.

"Once I come home from this mission, I promise to take you out, watch movies with you, take long walks on the beach, anything you'd like to do, my darling." He said, kissing your forehead.

"I'll make sure to come back home. I promise."

Danger Meter [6]

The day finally came for the Uranium Mission.

Watching everyone get ready made your stomach churn, everyone knew the danger awaits the Aviators. Standing beside Hangman, you both were ordered to be on stand-by, in case the mission didn't exactly go as planned.

You saw Rooster approach the both of you, he looked at Hangman. The pair seems to have a telepathic conversation as Hangman nodded, and pursed his lips. "Give 'em hell!"

Rooster looked at you the second Hangman left. You gulped, "Roo.."

Bradley felt warmth in his chest as the nickname for him rolled of your tongue. "I just want to say-" You were cut off by the announcement saying they need the Pilots and WSO's on their aircraft.

"We'll talk. After we come back from the mission." He offered a smile, you could only send a small one back as he went and got ready.

Danger Meter [6]

"Bullseye, bullseye, bullseye!"

A wide smile grew on your face as you and Hangman looked at each other, completely proud of your friends. "That's so cool." You breathed out, sitting in your jet. You heard Hangman talk to you.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Crash is falling harder and harder for Rooster." You rolled your eyes, "Shut it, Hangman."

The smile slowly fell on your lips, replacing it with a frown as you hear their status. Your heart dropped as you heard Rooster being out of flares while having two SAMs tailing behind him.

"Dagger one is hit! I repeat dagger one is hit!" You heard Pheonix yell, feeling your face go pale, you turned to look at Hangman beside you, making shre you heard it right. Judging by his facial expression, you knew what you're hearing is true.

"Dagger spares one and two request permission to launch and fly air cover." You hear Hangman request, you got ready to fly and scanned your jet quickly.

"Negative spares one and two."

You furrowed your brows and try to manage your annoyance, you can feel Hangman's frustration beside you. Then you heard a statement that shaked you to your core.

"Dagger two is hit. Dagger two is hit."

"Dagger two, come in."

"Dagger two, do you copy?" Still no response.

Rooster. You felt your hear rate pick up and your breathing became shallow.

No.. no. He promise he's come back home safe.

"This isn't happening." You mumbled, your hands shake as you gripped your flightsuit, cold sweat started to form on your forehead and hands. "No, this isn't happening." Hangman looked over to you. Noticing you slowly getting into shock.

"Crash... Crash! Dammit!" He hissed, seeing you get nauseous and spilling out the contents of your stomach. Luckily you were able to hunch over your jet as you throw up.

You can faintly hear Hangman call for a medic as you got down on your jet clumsily, kneeling and throwing up a second time on the tarmac.

Feeling light headed, you saw black spots in your vision as you dropped down. You can hear medical professionals run towards you, making you lay down as they put an oxygen mask on you. You feel the heaviness of your eyelids, you couldn't do anything as you slowly closed your eyes.

Danger Meter [6]

"Shit, I promised her I'd come back safe."

Rooster whispered, blinking away tears. He can feel your necklace sitting around his neck. This is it. He thought he would've been able to hold your hand one more time, kiss, and hug you.

A single tear rolled down his face, he can already hear the missle launch from the enemy's jet. And then he heard an explosion, as well as Hangman's voice. He felt his heart leap in joy, knowing he's coming back home, to you.

After the celebration, he quickly noticed you werent there, turning to Hangman, he asked him about your whereabouts.

"She went into shock, she's in the infirmary."

Rooster dropped his helmet. He never ran so fast than he did now in his entire life. His heart hammered against his chest, he looked down at his wrist. He needs to make sure you're okay. He was more than relieved as he saw it green, slowing down, he turned the doorknob to where the nurse had told him your room was and opened it.

There you were laying down, staring at a wall. Your lifeless eyes went over to the door to see your soulmate, still completely intact and alive.

"Rooster?" You whimpered, tears springing into your eyes. As you hurriedly sat up, Rooster gently pushing you back down.

Crying, you gently cupped your hands on his cheeks. "You're alive." He smiled and closed his eyes, relishing your touch, putting his hand on top of yours. Just a few minutes ago he didn't think he would see you again.

"It's hard to get rid of me, sweetheart."

"I wouldn't have it any other way, Bradshaw." You pulled the fabric of his flightsuit and kissed him hard, loving the way your lips are pressed againt his as you can feel him smile and grab your hips, pulling you closer.

He came back home, to you. For you.

Line That Leads To You

Pairing: Sirius Black x Fem! Reader AU: Soulmate AU CW: Language, Genre: Angst with a happy ending (don't worry guys) Summary: You make Sirius realize that having a soulmate isn’t all that bad— that he too, will have his happily ever after.

Note: One of my favorite tropes to write, soulmate AUs! Sirius just needs love and affirmation. I love writing for this! Enjoy! Picture is from pinterest, credits to the owner!

Line That Leads To You

You know, Sirius never really believed in those pesky soulmates stuff. It irks him to no end, and makes his head hurt.

The topic makes him snappy, bitter, and it leaves him feeling angry. To whom? The world— the one who’s responsible for everything that has to do with soulmates. He thinks it is a bunch of bollocks. It’s a pathetic little concept that everyone seems to be too invested in.

Sirius would be very much happy to tell you it doesn’t really end with a happily-ever-after.

“I’m telling you, Prongs. It’s just a bunch of crap.” Sirius tells James one time at the drawing room in the Potter Manor. James shakes his head, disagreeing with his best mate.

“It isn’t always like Walburga and Orion, Pads.” James gently tells him, eyes swimming with empathy for Sirius. “Just look at me, Lily and I are together, finally.” Sirius can’t help but scoff, shaking his head in a disagreeing manner.

“That’s because you were already pathetically in love with her before you even knew she was the one, Prongs. Same thing for Lily, but she was quite stubborn trying to deny what she felt about you. You guys are actually made for each other.” James lets out a laugh, the memories resurfacing making a love-struck smile appear on his face (Sirius gave him a disgusted look)

“That’s what soulmates are, Pads. You’re supposed to complete each other, balance the other person out” He pursed his lips and sighed, there’s no way Prongs could understand his opinion on the matter.

Complete each other, huh?

Then can someone give him a reasonable excuse on why his parents broke each other? One descended into madness; the other doesn’t really seem to care as long as the noble house of Black lineage will continue.

Sirius bites his bottom lip, deep in thought as he stares at his pinky, willing the connection to be seen; a red string that was tied into a bow that leads to Merlin-knows-where. It serves as a connection; the string that he and only his soulmate can see whenever they want. He tugs on it curiously, awaiting any reaction with bated breath. He almost scrambled away when he felt the other end also tug it. Sirius was utterly terrified, a shiver crawled up to his system, it’s foreign feeling for the Black’s eldest son. It made everything feel too real. A fact that he desperately tries to deny.

That night, before they returned to Hogwarts as sixth year students was the last time he ever willed to see the annoying little string in his pinky, not caring if his supposed other half was finding him or already found him.

Maybe it had to do with his twisted upbringing. He saw how his father cut the string tying him to their mother, the purple string that bound them together turning gray and withering away.

He saw how Regulus flinched, no one should’ve seen a scene like that, but they did. Someone severing their connection to someone who should’ve been with them through better or for worse, the one that fate intended for them. Their life got worse just after that, forcing him to flee and leave his younger brother behind at the deranged hands of Walburga Black.

“You should eat more, Reggie.” You turned towards the quiet and reserved Slytherin, pushing his plate closer to him, which made him wince. “I am quite full.” You raised a brow “None sense, all you did was sip pumpkin juice so you better do as I say or I’ll tell Evan and Junior.”

“Do you know that you boss people around quite well?” He grumbles, shoving a few spoonsful of dinner in his mouth as you hummed in approval, cracking a small smile. “I was told.” Your eyes flickered to the Gryffindor table, it seemed to gravitate you, pulling you in.

Looking down at your pinky, you willed the string to be visible to you. Seeing the red string attached to Sirius Black made your stomach churn; was it butterflies? Unease? You don’t particularly know, having mixed reactions to the string that leads to your other half.

You’ve known for over a year now, keeping it to yourself as you quickly figured out that he wants nothing to do with his soulmate.

“Reggie! Reggie!”

You exclaimed, slapping the poor boy’s arm as he was currently staying in the L/n Manor. He looked in your direction, quite annoyed, he was interrupted reading his book. “I’m reading, Y/n. You know, you should too. It’ll do you some good.” He sassed, trying to find which part he stopped reading. “My soulmate! They tugged the string!” You gushed, “They must be looking for me too, right?” You asked no one in particular, you can still feel the tingles you felt, how your heartbeat picked up, and how you felt like you were in could nine.

Quite the opposite from what Sirius felt, huh?

You never told him, never planned to. It was quite clear what his views are on the concept of soulmates when you saw him snogging different girls every week. It wrecked you; you swore you felt your heart stop beating every time you see him loving a girl other than you even just for a week. It sounds stupid and all, but you would give up everything just to know what it feels like; how he will look at you with love and adoration in his eyes, how his touch and kisses would linger on your body, and how his voice would sound like as his breath fans in your ear, whispering promises of love.

You looked at him from the Slytherin table; so close yet so far.

Regulus noticed, the all too familiar broken look in your face. His heart hurts for you, even if you do not tell him, he already knows. Seeing his brother’s indifference, Regulus’s gaze hardened. How could he have the guts to do this to his soulmate?

The memory of their mother's despair, the way she withered away after their father severed the bond, was etched into his mind. Regulus does not wish for anyone to feel that way, he does not wish upon it even in his worst enemies.

It was a pain no one should endure, a lesson that should have been learned.

Yet there sat his brother, laughing with his friends and willfully ignoring the pulls of his heart. The person who held the other end of this unseen tether, was beside Regulus. Your soul ached as you watched your soulmate. It was a betrayal of the heart's deepest connection, and it stirred a tempest of fury within Regulus that he struggled to contain.

“My brother is foolish. Eat.” He states, pushing your food and placing the cornbread on his plate to yours. She cracks a smile, chuckling. “Alright, Reggie. You’re lucky I love you.” You pat his curls, proceeding to eat the bread, smiling a little. Reggie never really shares his food with anyone, except for you. You’re the only exception.

“Padfoot.” Remus starts, looking out of the window as Sirius lays down lazily in his bed, looking at nothing.

“What, Moons?”

“If I say that I have an inkling on who your soulmate is, would you… look for them?” Remus asked cautiously. Peter and James perked up, eyes wide with shock. How could Remus possibly guess who his soulmate is? Unless… They’re also in Hogwarts?

“Don’t start with that crap, Moony.” Sirius sat up; a scowl displayed in his features as his grey eyes turned stormy.

“Don’t you even feel the slightest amount of guilt in your system as you snog other girls?” Remus frowned.

Sirius’s scowl deepened, his hands clenching into fists. “Guilt? For what, Moony? For not wanting to be chained down by some ancient magic?” His voice was a low growl, barely containing the emotions that surged within him. “I won’t be dictated by fate. I make my own choices, and I refuse to be bound by a bond I never asked for.”

Remus’s expression softened, the lines of concern etching deeper into his face. “It’s not about being chained, Pads. It’s about finding someone who complements you, who understands you in ways no one else can.” He paused, his gaze steady and piercing. “You’ve seen what happens when that bond is severed. You’ve seen the pain it causes. Is that what you want for yourself? For your soulmate who’s probably hurting somewhere?”

Sirius looks down, biting his lip and playing with the rings on his fingers. “I don’t plan on severing our bond, Moons- “

“Then what the fuck are you doing?” Remus spat, Sirius flinched, looking at anything but them. He knew deep down that Remus was right. He can’t deny he also wants to look for his soulmate. The only thing that was holding him back is that he’s scared. What if your story would end similarly like how Walburga and Orion’s did? Dread fills his system as he reflects on how he slowly realized he’s becoming like his father. Peter and James exchanged a glance, the weight of the conversation settling heavily upon them.

“I’m scared,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “Scared of finding her… Scared of repeating the same mistakes.” He paused, his gaze lifting to meet Remus’s. “But you’re right. I can’t keep running from this. It’s not fair to them, and it’s not fair to me.”

James offered a supportive smile, feeling happy for his friend. Sirius stood up, his posture straightening as if shedding the weight of his fears. “I’ll do it. I’ll find her,” he declared, his voice steady. “I owe it to both of us to at least try.”

“That’s our Padfoot.” Remus breathes a sigh of relief as Peter nods encouragingly at Sirius.

The next daylight soon came. Sirius gulps, looking around the great hall, feeling quite overwhelmed at the number of students entering for breakfast, eating, or chatting amongst themselves. For the first time in a long time, he willed the red string of fate to reappear within his vision.

Ah, there it was. The red string connected to someone from the Slytherin table. Sirius felt his heart drop, seeing the end of the string connected to your pinky. “Y/n?” The name left his lips in a hushed awe, his heart skipping a beat as he saw the string connected to your pinky. You, who laughed with such ease beside Regulus, were the missing piece.

Whether it was some brotherly instinct, Regulus looked at him, shooting him a warning stare as if to say: ‘If you hurt her, you’ll never see the light of day ever again.’

Remus raised his eyebrows in surprise, knowing eyes set on his friend. “Found her, Pads?”

“Yeah. Found her, Moony.”

“Then what are you waiting for?” James chimed in, a grin spreading across his face as Peter silently cheers him on. “Go on, before you lose your nerve.”

Sirius took a deep breath, trying to shake off the weight of Regulus’s protective stare. It was a silent challenge, a vow to keep your heart safe from his brother. With a nod of acknowledgment, Sirius stepped forward, crossing the small distance between the Gryffindor table and Slytherin.

“Y/n,” he said, standing before you, the red string pulsing with a life of its own.

You stilled, slowly looking in his direction. Eyes wide with surprise, searched his for a moment before softening. “I was wondering when you’d come around,” you teared up, making Sirius’ heart ache.

Sirius extended his hand, the red string wrapping around both your destinies. “Let’s talk, yeah?”

And in that moment, as your fingers intertwined, Sirius knew that whatever the future held, he had made the right choice. For in finding you, he had found a new path that began to unravel, one filled with hope and courage. The buzz of Great Hall continued, but both of them felt time still, feeling the bond weave into their souls deeper.

Sirius’s and Y/n’s story had its flaws, but it was theirs, uniquely woven by the red strings of fate.

For Poly!marauders Request (I Saw You Asked For Some) Could You Do One Where The Reader Faints Out Of

To say that you were tired would be an understatement. You were exhausted- mentally, and physically as you were buried in a mountain of books, flipping through almost a hundred pages an hour as you tried to juggle three essays and review for NEWTS all at once.

You were so immersed in your studying, the sound of pages flipping and scratching of the quill against parchment made you slip into a hyper-focused mode that you don’t notice the passage of time making you effectively miss lunch and dinner.

“There’s my smart darling!”

Sirius grins, sneaking up to you and kissing your cheek. You jolted, looking up as you saw him, and your other boyfriends sit next to you in the library.

“Hey guys.” You try your best to muster up a cheery smile for them. Remus, who was seated beside you frowns as he notices your pale and tired face. “We haven’t seen you today, love.” You smiled sheepishly, “I was finishing up the essays we’re assigned this week.” Sirius shakes his head in a disapproving manner. “Darling, you know we could just copy off of Remus’s essay when he does it, right?” A protest from Remus was heard, making you chuckle.

“I don’t think our moony would appreciate that.” You cracked a small smile, “But he lets us copy off of his essays ever since we can remember!” James defended Sirius who nodded agreeingly.

“What we would appreciate though, is you not missing out on dinner.” Remus told you, pulling out an apple and two dishes that the house elves prepared, (bribed by James) placing it in front of you.

“Erm... I don’t really have an appetite right now, love.” You grimaced, seeing the stern expression of the werewolf. “You need to eat, darling.” James pleads, puppy eyes activating. You looked at the other two, they seemed to mirror James. “Please love, you’re making us worried sick.” Remus gently pushed the food in your direction.

“Alright then…” How could you possibly deny your adorable boyfriends?

This continued for a few days or so, each day got the boys increasingly worried than yesterday. Sleeping for four hours (five if you’re lucky) and studying all day became your new routine, you hardly even spend time with the boys anymore, only during breakfast at the great hall since you mostly skip lunch and dinner to study. If it weren’t for your friends and your boyfriends, you would’ve already starved.

You groaned, plopping down in between Remus and James, taking a bite of the toast in front of you, and ignoring the light headedness you were feeling since you woke up. Marlene looked up from her plate and winced as she took in the sight of you.

“Merlin, y/n. You look worse than a dementor.”

“Thanks Marls, appreciate it.” You grumbled, taking a swig of the pumpkin juice, grimacing as you felt that a huge gulp of the beverage and a small bite of toast was too much for your stomach to handle.

“I’m serious, when was the last time you had a good night’s rest?” She frowns, shaking her head as she gave a pointed look at your boyfriends. “There’s already three of you and you can’t even manage to take care of your girl?”

“Not my fault she chooses to stick her nose into books rather than spending time with us.” Sirius huffed, crossing his arms over his chest, his dramatic and petty side surfacing. “Pads.” Remus warns, the light headedness that you’ve felt suddenly worsens as you feel the urge to throw up. Lily seemed to notice, shooting a worried glance on your way as you waved it off.

“What Moony? It’s true! It’s like she forgot she even is in a committed relationship with us.” Sirius spat, getting riled up as James tried to diffuse the situation.  “Sirius, I already said I’m sorry…” She rasped out, trying to reach for his hand but he jerked it away. “Don’t be a knobhead, Pads.” Remus glares at him, irritated by how he’s acting.

Sirius rolled his eyes, it was obvious that he was hurt; You rarely spend time with them anymore, accidentally pushing them away and shutting them out just because of those stupid academics. “Whatever.” He grunts, and stands up, walking away from the table.

You felt yourself get weak; as the great hall spins around you, cold sweat started to form on your temple as spots slowly made it’s wany into your vision. Despite your body practically screaming for you to just sit and stay still, you push yourself from the benches and follow him. “Sirius, love- “He turns to you, frowning. “What now?”

You opened your mouth, about to say a word when suddenly your legs gave out, the spots grew larger as you tried to look at Sirius before your world suddenly faded to black. You heard screams from the students, the loudest ones you recognized were from your friends, especially Marlene and Lily.

“Shit!” Sirius was thankful for his awfully fast reflexes that he managed to catch you before you hit your head on the cold floor. James and Remus rushed to the both of you. “Bloody hell, Pads!” James kneels in front of you, gently tapping your cheek as a sense of urgency surrounds them. “Darling, please open your eyes, can you hear me?” James asked you, every second that ticks makes the feeling of dread in his stomach grow larger.

“P-prongs, Moony… I promise I didn’t know she was going to faint…” Sirius whimpered as he cradles you, eyes looking frazzled and darting back and forth between his lovers. James felt his breath become faster, as you didn’t respond to any of his attempts. Other students started to gather around to take a peek on what’s happening in the middle of the great hall while Marlene and the other Gryffindor students kept them from nearing. Remus knelt next to James, trying not to freak out like what the other two are already doing. He slowly placed his trembling hand on your forehead. “No fever, but we need to take her to Madame Pomfrey.” He announces, biting his lip as Sirius lifts you up bridal style, the three of them rushing you to the hospital wing.

The bright and harsh light of the hospital wing made you wince, you slowly blink, trying to adjust to the brightness of your surroundings. “Darling! You’re awake!” James tackles you into a hug, almost squeezing out the air from your lungs.

“Prongs! Be careful!” Remus’s tone was harsh, as if scolding James. The boy slowly pulled away, pouting, which Remus had ignored. “How are you, love?” Remus’s gaze softened as he looked in your direction, taking your hand in his as he rubbed circles in the back of your hand.

“For the most part, I’m fine.” You croaked out, James immediately gave you water. After taking a few sips, you let your eyes wander around, someone was missing- Where’s Sirius?

James seemed to catch on this, “He’s outside, beating himself up for being an arsehole.” You frowned, “Can you please tell him to come in? I want to see him…” You mumbled, James nodded and fetched Sirius outside of the hospital wing.

After a short while, Sirius emerged, darting his eyes anywhere but onto you. “Love…” You gently called out to him; Sirius bit his lip as he finally took in the sight of you. “Darling, I’m sorry. I was such an arse to you.” He sincerely apologized while you shake your head, “I’m sorry too, I was stressing out too much. I barely even managed to take care of myself and spend time with you guys.”

“Just don’t do it again, darling. We almost lost our minds when you fainted.” James told you as he tucks stray hair behind your ear.

“I won’t do that again; I’ll just copy off of Moony’s work.” She chuckled, glancing at the said boy, she saw the twinkle in his eyes as he smiled and rolled his eyes playfully.

The sun’s rays filtered out in the curtains of the hospital wing, encasing the four in a warm glow as they conversed amongst themselves, putting the events behind them; silently promising to love and care for each other, through thick and thin.
