Oh no, I have a girlfriend of 5 years... am I about to be engaged?

It’s an old tradition that during a leap year women could propose to men. This was usually depicted as old or ugly women trapping men, but some art focused more on the role reversal and could be quite cute.
I have a soft spot in my heart for the last one because it plays on the idea of “undesirable” people, a tall masculine woman and a shy effeminate man, finding each other but instead of mocking them depicts it as sweet that she could finally ask him because he was too shy and insecure to ask her.
I don't know why, but ever since I decided I should start tracking my mood out of 10 in my journal, it seems that I've had tonnes of days where either something really good happens that is then balanced out by something bad, or I have really boring days, or they're days that I can appreciate but with minor inconveniences balancing them out. As a result, I've been having lots of 5/10 days, which feels kind of bad because that looks like I'm having a horrible time of it, but I'm just trying to be really objective and I've been having a very neutral time, exactly 5, not a good day at 7 or a bad day at 3.
I suppose it's just one of the introspective benefits of journaling that allows me to look back and notice how middle-of-the-road my life has been the last week or so.
General pieces of advice for 2024:
Switch to Firefox
Reblog stuff you enjoy for others to enjoy. Likes don't do much on this platform (I tend to think of them as tumblr bookmarks), but a reblog may make an artist's day
Cite your sources on images. The breadcrumbs you drop may lead to someone else's inspiration
Take pictures of the mundane, like your house -- never know when you will need to look back on that again for posterity or utility
Wear your face mask (KN95 or better, make sure it's a good seal) and keep up to date with you covid boosters. Not only do you not want to get sick, you don't want to be the reason someone else gets sick. It sucks, but getting long covid sucks more
Try to tag things accurately where you can
Install an adblocker
Ask questions (in general, not just on tumblr). Worst case scenario the answer is "I don't know"
Engage in good-faith discussions with your fellow user, you might find a new friend
Go to a Vintage Computer Festival if you can help it, there's cool stuff to see and things to do
Turn off "best stuff first" on your dashboard controls. It's your dashboard, you get to curate it, so might as well take full control
Take a moment to enjoy silence in your space
Take the old, original batteries out of your vintage computers so they don't burst and corrode the circuit boards within when you forget about them for a few years. You'll thank me later, mitigating a Varta meltdown is incredibly time consuming
Be good to each other
I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll weather this trial. Don't let your faith get erroded, your precious sharp rock will be transported to you again soon. Don't suspend us in anticipation, update us soon!
has anyone seen my sharp rock? i left it in the river for 100 years for safe keeping and now i can't find it. its many uneven edges have sentimental significance
All I can think about is that if you flip that piece of paper all of a sudden it says
.yo ...yo
