In honor of my snake shedding and scaring my socks off while he does so because for a solid moment I got to stare into the black void of my room and consider that a entity would chose to announce its presence by crinkling a like chip back before I realized and screamed, “it’s you” at him and grinding all day in royal high because the Dev team is setting it on fire but I still want to be a pretty princess in the game.

It is only day two of midwinter break please my marbles have already scattered,

Octavian; if he had access to the game. Would’ve played royal high. He strikes me as a dress up type of guy. Does profit trading but refuses to diamond farm. Also doesn’t like switching over to different rh like games. Again, like exclusively uses it for the dress up aspect, thinks everything looks really pretty. He has all of the stuffed animal items/stuffed animal like ones. Gets oddly heated about the game too. Like, would argue with someone about a value of an item and then leave to server hop. Yeah he’s that one I’m sorry guys. Also his dorm is so bare bones, refuses to spend a lot of diamonds on it until he can do it all at once. But Octavian likes a lot of games where he has total control of his character and everything about it. Really liked Animal Crossing, also feels like he uses the sims purely for character customization; has a bunch of mods and then just never uses them. Has all of his friends/probably the cohort as sims too. Doesn’t like rpg-rpg games that have like fighting mechanics, just feels like the sort of guy to not like video game fighting.

Octavian also had a rabbit. His family had a lot of animals (because he had a lot of family-) and he got to be the rabbit kid. His was the like toasty colored ones with the big lop ears. Sadly it was given away when he joined the legion. But he feels like a rabbit guy, it comforted him a lot.

Jason: you know the wolves life games? For a few certain amount of you I have just unlocked horrifying memories that your brain has tried to hide of emo wolves and if not then you don’t want to know. But I feel like he’d play them, they’d be the first ones once he gets on, along with like obbies. I just feel like he’s the type of guy to like a good obby. But also warrior cats ultimate edition. The first thing my man does when he enters the mortal world is get sucked into warrior cats because I feel like he’s that type of person. Also clangen. He feels like a clangen sort of guy, along with that Mario games. I also feel like he’s in a similar Octavian boat where he doesn’t like games with big fighting mechanics, just doesn’t find it that interesting or something he’s looking for in a game. He is however an open world type of guy, likes exploring.

I want to say he’s a dog guy and would’ve had a dog. But at the same time Jason feels like he’s deeply benefit from getting a cat. Cat’s are just soothing on the soul, also he just feels like the type of person to have a cat on his lap or laying on his chest. Silly little white cat for Jason Grace, or the scraggliest stray cat that was bestowed upon him by the distribution system.

Hazel: any of the like fighting games? Don’t particularly think she likes Roblox much, but if she is playing it’s either one of the games where everyone hates each other and you get to beat each other up or bee swarm simulator. Hazel either is having a de-stress day and it is through being stressed and upset at strangers in the beat ‘em up games, or by tending to her bees and being upset at other people and npcs in bee swarm simulator. Really likes other competitive games too? I don’t know she just strikes me as that type of gal to get waaay too invested in something like a Mario party. Also turn based rpg games, something’s ticks me as someone who’d like that.

Obviously she has Arion but Hazel also feels like she’d vibe with a dog, maybe a cat but I just see more dog with her. A silly little lab for the silly little lady.

Frank: does not play. I genuinely can’t think of Roblox games that are tame enough for him. Actually scratch that tycoon games. The super chill ones where no one interacts with each other and you just exist and build out your little space. He likes those. Enjoys seeing the progress he’s making in something. He’s also an animal crossing player, along with the casual tycoon games. However I’d also say he plays like CoD, just casually and he’s extremely average at it but I feel like he just, does that.

Frank feels like he’d have a really like barely a pet-pet. Like either a fish dude or he has isopods. Just strikes me as someone who can’t deal with a very like aaaaa pet. Or a ragdoll cat. Those are the options I present to you dear reader. Or an axolotl, he’d be an axolotl man.

Larry: Larry plays natural disaster survival. Larry is a menace to society. Also bloxburg, makes pretty okay builds but on a slightly different note feels like a Sims guy to me. I dunno, him and Annabeth get to be in the same boat. Also those really bad mobile games.

Larry gets a pet turtle or a bird. He also just feels like a bird guy, already joked about being a pirate I think he likes giving Camp’s eagles look overs and is happy when it’s his turn to look after them. Also just feels like a man who’d have like 50 pigeons.

Dakota!!!: I almost forgot my man. But Dakota. Dakota plays horror games, he can’t handle them but he still plays it. He is so loud when he plays too. Doors, fnaf, poppy playtime, the list goes on. I think he also sits there and is like, “oh I’m super good at them and like super brave” and it jumps cuts to him screaming because a monster is right behind him. He’s still super brave and great in battle, but he gets so jumpy once you put him in a dark area and instill paranoia. Also can’t play mafia because he screams a little too much.

Dakota is a hamster type of dude. He had a couple growing up and probably would’ve had another one if uh. Events didn’t happen (it’s literally so unfair what happened to him like aaa-). I feel like he had the really small ones.

Okay uh, that’s about it for the random headcanons I’ve spewed. These are 100% my opinions and probably don’t weigh on anything. Thank the Gods I managed to keep Bryce out of it (but if you ask me he is the opposite of Frank, plays CoD and is so annoying about it and very invested-). Anyway I’ll try and actually do something! Possibly New Rome things? Or more Camp Jupiter map, I want to finally put that one to rest. Or Dakota hc finally. We’ll see what happens.

Can we pretty please talk about how no matter which character's pov it is, the first time we see them meet Octavian he's always described as tall. Percy described Jason (6'0) as a couple of inces taller than himself, but for Octavian he didn't bother making a comparison, he just said "Tall" so now I'm imagining Octavian to be Tall tall. Taller than everyone. Like, almost 7'0 tall, of not exactly 7'0. Like.

But also he's tall and skinny and weird.

And Jason is kinda upset that Octavian is taller than him and he tries to make himself look taller when standing beside Octavian and they end up fighting about it kinda toddlers.

Reyna is the only adult person here and she told me to tell you to send help.

Camp Jupiter Ranking Hc

Alternatively: ‘Camp Jupiter: Re-imagined Ranking hc rework thingy?’ Wooo okay, 14 pages later of me trying to get this all formulated I can finally share the fruits of my labor!

Like always I’ll talk about roles that were in the Ancient Roman military, mushed together with concepts from Camp Jupiter and my own ideas, and then still don’t take anything I say like super duper seriously. I’ll also mention the units, which are based on after the Marian reforms(?). I kinda ripped apart the legion..? Nicely, love my guys but I wanted to nerd out a little for the ranks, but I pretty much just switched some stuff around but it’s totally still like the three levels and I still think it’s pretty simple? Or like yeah, I did like metaphorically smush the sandcastle and then rebuild it in my design, but that’s the whole point of it being a headcannon/au/re-imagining thing. Hopefully, uh. I’ve tried to make all of this actually make sense and have function. So, enough of me yapping,

Senior Officers/ the important people

Senior officers get their own little thing. This is where you’d put your like Praetor, Senator, Centurion in canon terms. I’m just calling them senior officers (I did it for note optimization so I wouldn’t pull my hair out while writing) but yeah. There are some new roles; Legion Legate(s), Tribune Lacticlavus(?), Senators, and Centurions.

Legion Legates have effectively taken the role of what Praetors are in canon? I kept the 2 (even though historically there would be 1 legion legate) they would run in pairs (most of the time, though there’s probably exceptions). The legate would serve for 4-5 years, it’s possible for the Senators if needed to remove a Legate or Tribune from power. Legion Legates have to meet the same requirements a Centurion would, and would be voted in by the majority. Like I said really similar to Praetors (just not Praetors because I wanted to move that to the New Rome government.) doing most of the same roles that a Praetor in canon would serve, being the referees during the War Games, directing the legion in battle. They’d also decide what the war games would be that time, form the schedules of the cohorts, call for senate meetings under certain circumstances.

Tribune Lacticlavus, the second in command to the Legates. Generally there acting as a stand in for distributing things like spoils to the cohorts after battles, takes majority of the words from legionnaires and sorts out smaller issues, would run with their legate pair and serve the same amount of time as their legates. Also removed the gender lock on them that the Praetors in canon had. Not necessarily needed (A legate pair can slip past having on and still perform their duties) though it’s very, encouraged to have one? It’s basically odd to have a term where there is no Tribune Lacticlavus

Senators; very similar to canon, elected annually, with 2 senators per cohort. Can run for re-election, Centurions/other lower ranked roles can also be senators jointly (excluding things like an Aquafiler)

Centurions; Elected by the Senate (like canon) 2 serve per cohort, typically have 4-5 year long terms. Though can serve for longer times (*Like Jason for example) Centurions must’ve served at least one year in the legion and performed in a quest to be eligible. This time they get to have their silly special names for differentiating the Centurions. Primus Pilus for the senior Centurion of the First cohort (*My dude Octavian. Uses it too, needs all the respect he can get from his title so maybe people will actually listen to him-) Pilus Priors for Senior Centurions of the other cohorts (Example; someone like Dakota would be the Pilus Prior of his Cohort.) and the basic Centurion for the not senior Centurion (sorry Primi Ordines but I didn’t really want to make this more long than I already made it). Most names for Centurions literally are just to differentiate (Like the Decanus role I’m gonna bring up). Other than being able to pull rank by being the Senior Centurion but that’s about it.

Optio; Optiones(?)/ default Optio Centuriae, are the second in commands to the Centurions essentially. They keep the troops in order, re-enforce orders from Centurions, and generally just like- helping out? Their specific title can change based on what their curated role is (like an Optio being an Optio Valetudinarii; or in charge of the Hospital) but as default Optio Centuriae; there to be aid to the Centurions. Usually each Centurion will bring up one of their friends to be their Optio.

Aquafiler; actually a canon role (Our current camp Jupiter Aquafiler is Jacob!) holds the legions standard, carefully picked by the Senate. A very honored position.

Okay that is the like, important roles that are more than like. Just an extra role? Like a title that aaa, but here are the just. Legionnaire extra silly roles,

Decanus; a title with no power. Decanus is the term for those who commanded a Conterbanum (more info on them later). Saying someone is a Decanus is more of a way to distinguish and make separating the Conterbanums easier (like being in a line of people and having the first person be what the line is referred to as) a Decanus is chosen as a group in the Conterbanum, there is no standardized way and it doesn’t really affect how the Conterbanum works.

Immunes; Immunes are the specialized members of the legion. Medics, engineers, those types of specialized jobs. They still fight but are exempt from basic legionary duty (trench digging and stuff). They play a role in like Conterbanum stuff that’ll come up later.

Probatio; The same to canon. I didn’t change it but thought it was still worth to include them and stuff.

Okay. OKAY. Almost done, it’s taken upwards of almost a week to type this and finally I establish the one last thing, the introduction of Conterbanums!!

Conterbanums are a sub unit in the Roman military made of 10 people (8 common legionary, 2 Immunes) these relate to the Decanus role I mentioned. But like in the Roman military these serve more just for troop like morale? Building that family bond stuff. A Conterbanum is formed of like I said, 8 common legionnaires and 2 Immunes. The immune distribution is most likely with one being a medic and the other being… something? Conterbanum’s are mainly implemented 1) for organization, it’s easier to manage the cohorts and keep records with everyone in these easily recorded groups. And 2) to make Camp Jupiter overall more interwoven, to promote more community and more of a bond between legionnaires, it would probably serve a narrative purpose to like make camp seem more alive, and also does what it did in the Roman military which was like. Comradery (I can’t spell but you know what I mean).

Okay! Okay that’s all, I think. I’m sure. I did a lot of yapping, and I did a lot of things. Generally do I have any issues with how camp is structured? Not really, other than the gender locks on Praetors and like the super duper murky rules I don’t really have anything against it. But for the re-imagining that exists in my head I want Camp to be much more traditional, and much more complex because like something something we first see it through Percy’s eyes and it’d be confusing and whatever.

Also it took me a week just to write this out not to mention the month of cursory research because I’ve been getting sick and recovering then getting sick again all throughout January so I apologize for not including New Romes government system. But I also didn’t want to think about the Roman government system of like Julius Caesar time frames (what I’m generally planning on basing it off of. Just that general time period because it’s the one I’m most familiar with-)

Me and my friend got callbacks and we might end up being Lumire and Cogsworth B] but we get Cast list soon so fingers crossed!!

Anyway I’m gonna work on Ranking stuff right now. Literally just have to finish something and then the post will begin to be physically drafted, but for now I wanna talk about some of the (massive-) changes I’m making for the sake of being excited and getting to talk about Rome in some way,

Praetors are being swapped out. They’ll be a part of New Rome’s government (that I might go off of but that’s a different thing) but are being replaced by a ‘senior officers’ class. Not exactly senior officers, they’re elected and other stuff that I’ll explain. But yeah, generally making things a bit more complex and election drama and that stuff.

I say I’m making it complex but really it still is the ‘Senior Officer, Senator, Centurion, Legionnaire+’ pyramid. Just with some extra spots to account for the fact that Camp might be a bit bigger in my re-imagining? Much more bustling (*not to mention a lot of minor Gods probably subtly guide their kids there for various reasons but that’s a different idea I haven’t thought much over*)

The Centurion role list will probably look very long because of the 4 titles but it literally boils down to ‘Centurion. These Centurions have a different tilte. Blah blah blah’

More legionnaire roles!! I’m gonna go on a rant over Optio’s (Optiones? Optii? Idk) because it’s my favorite position in the Roman military and because I find them interesting and a good way to build characters n’ stuff. But yeah, not lots but more legionnaire roles (I think like 2 or 3? We’ll see but I’m 100% omitting some roles)

I’ll be transparent. I’ve only thought about how this may affect plot surface level. I am not the plot guy or the writing guy. I just like myself ten buckets of worldbuilding, but I’ll probably go over what I think this changes for characters. Probably.

Okay thats really it I think. Another note is that my research probably isn’t that in depth, I have a lot of things to do and therefore I try my best but I obviously won’t be like a million % accurate or correct or whatever. And this is all for my Re: imagined! It’s just my headcanons for how I want to think of my Re-imagining of Camp and HoO. The extra roles and how I see SoN in my Re:imagining add to what I want Camps suffocating regimented atmosphere that Percy has to experience to be.

The Octavian & Michael Quest story

Finally working on that skeleton for the Octavian and Michael post. Uhhhh, there might be a ‘Oc’ introduced. I guess she qualifies as one, but in the wake of those two Camp Jupiter kids running around in the lotus casino and to make tracking down Diana/Artemis a bit more coherent they have to find a lost huntress? She honestly is just gonna be a goofy girl from like, the 80’s? Probably like a silly Michael Varus reference line and she helps them get to their final destination. Which I’ve decided is Arizona by the way.

And I’ve managed to shoehorn the timeline to technically work. Octavian and Michael would be thirteen when Percy is 12, both Octavian and Michael would have a year of Camp Jupitering under their belts. We’ll figure out who their Centurion supervisor is, because it’s definetly not them lol, but for now it’s all uh really bare bones and minimum. I wanted to maybe put Jason on here as the Centurion (he’d already have 8 years I think cannoncially and I don’t put it past Camp Jupiter’s senators to be like ‘this kids cool and he did that eagle quest so let him be the Centurion :3’) but I don’t want the quest to be really high stakes. I think actually- scratch that little baby Jason is on the quest too because their all friends in the re-imagining and something something Jason watching Octavian fall into madness angst when their older something something.

I hope those are all in the correct order. It’s not all set in stone, like I said I don’t like writing fight scenes because andiendjaikanxnfns so instead I just wanted to center a lot of obscure Gods and how they’re reacting to the Titan war.

My silly Oc gets to be in my guilty pleasure ship (please they are thematic and in my heart where Mercury is a real character and Octavian doesn’t die they help each other through processing their trauma and are so silly-) also Ares because after watching the episode more everytime I see him I spontaneously combust.

Anyway the next post will be about ToA hidden Oracle, I’m finishing the book and I’ve been bookmarking things that looking interesting and that I wanna talk about, which I’ll compile into a post and hahahaha.

Anyway uh Happy Valentine’s Day and Lupercalia to all. Possibly a New Rome/Camp Jupiter festivals post if I don’t get to finishing Hidden Oracle in a timely manner.
